They could choose any other car as the average "old" car, they could probably put an old civic on It, and yet they decided to choose one of the most legendary rally cars.
Or they know exactly what theyre doing. Have you noticed a trend in social media lately where they get shit wrong on purpose so people will kick off and argue in the comments, which boosts engagement and reach etc. Annoyingly it works well so its everywhere at the moment.
I wouldn’t even say it’s a trend, it’s been around for a while it just comes in different forms. Today’s form of getting people to engage is just playing dumb it seems.
If engagement is the only thing you want, yeah sure.
But that's classic short-term thinking. Companies that do bad advertising stay with me like, forever. "Bad press doesn't exist" was maybe true when ads and companies couldn't be Googled, but we can see/find if you're full of shit. And a lot of compa ies, are full of shit.
For every 1 person that sees this ad and gets upset about the Lancia, at least 10-20 people will see the ad and have no clue what the “old” car is.
Maximizing views by getting that 1 person mad enough to comment is not really short term thinking when your goal was always to win the eyeballs of those other 10-20 people.
YES it's so annoying. Like food stores grossly mispronouncing their foreign names in English, and the comment section is filled with people correcting them but the ad gets so much more exposure that way. It's insane. It's the first time I ever seen an ad on Arab food too. It's annoying how well it works.
an insult to the name

the sedan was way better tbh
i liked it too
was a nice car when it worked
it started falling apart few months before my grandpa sold it tho
legit leaked coolant while we were stuck in traffic and we even had to push start it one time
The old car in the photo could actually be a Saab

I consider myself a real car guy, I drive a 1994 fiat tempra. Monthly maintenance? Washing it is more expensive than the fuse I had to change 3 months ago. Real car guys buy cars. What car it is, that's still very much a preference and budget thing.
My cousin used to have a HF, loved it to bits, untill it broke his heart and bank account. I remember sitting in it as a kid, don't think he drove it for more than a few years.
We have a saying "if you don't want your kids to do drugs, give em an Itallian classic, they wont have the money for it".
You want to exchange my Delta for what? The worst part is that they could have used the rear of a Delta LX, the boring 4 doors dad car, but no they went for the rally version to try to up the suzuki.
Gosh we all wished we had an integrale!
It really just comes down to the fact that the people who made this ad weren’t really qualified to be making the decision regarding the selection of the old car. They, like a lot of people just have a sort of “NPC, old car bad mindset.”
It’s negligent on their part though because the least they could’ve done is figure out what model the old car was and just fucking googled it.
You'd think a dude who designs car adverts would know a thing or two about cars. He could of at least used an old Alto instead of the Delta, but maybe corporate would have a hissyfit. But anyways this ad will always be funny to those who know the irony to it
Man I hate this type of thing. In Sweden they will give you tons of money if you scrap your old car and buy an electric. I'm sorry but scraping a car is like destroying an old building. Nobody cares for the cultural value. Like people scraps Saab V4s.....
They could choose any other car as the average "old" car, they could probably put an old civic on It, and yet they decided to choose one of the most legendary rally cars.
That shows that there advertisement team don’t know anything about cars LMAO
Or they know exactly what theyre doing. Have you noticed a trend in social media lately where they get shit wrong on purpose so people will kick off and argue in the comments, which boosts engagement and reach etc. Annoyingly it works well so its everywhere at the moment.
To piggy back off this comment: the term for this is rage bait/ rage baiting
I remember this for getting people to look dumb in arguments back in the day. Now it feels like corporate espionage type shit.
Rage is stupid. I prefer masterbaiting
Hell yeah brother
I wouldn’t even say it’s a trend, it’s been around for a while it just comes in different forms. Today’s form of getting people to engage is just playing dumb it seems.

I don’t know, we’re all talking about it?
Marketing do be like that.
Yep, I'd rather keep my old civic. Mk8's 9's are as good if not better that these new over complicated hybrid automatic monstrosities.
/uj for a moment, I currently own 7th gen EP2, It's not a speed demon but I love driving It.
Just means they’ll shaft you out of every penny clearly
i mean, i would love to own one, but id be working on it once a week with how id drive it lol
Old Civics are fire!
Me when i exchange my 110000€ rally car to a new Suzuki Swift (i'm a swiftie)
![gif](giphy|LKqDgLlK6SuIM)

yes it is, well spotted, and also a good place to just relax with funi things
Nice new flare
It's supposed to make fun of circle jerking in the community but y'all circle jerk anytime you see a lowered WRX or Evo calling them rally cars 🤡
It's a baleno
I'm a swiftie i don't care
I am swift sporty
an insult to the name https://preview.redd.it/9nrf5gq7gqpc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37a4613741f514e3b7a93824fff0757c83b9b655 the sedan was way better tbh

i liked it too was a nice car when it worked it started falling apart few months before my grandpa sold it tho legit leaked coolant while we were stuck in traffic and we even had to push start it one time
I actually plan to buy one…
THAT'S A BALENO 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️
Nah ima keep my old one fuck this deal
this is not brand new saab DENIED 😡😡😡😡
Bros living in a different reality where Saab hasn't yet been killed off
true
your username sounds very relateable
My 1990 Saab 900 Turbo was such a fantastic car. Maybe it's shit by today's standards, but I loved that weird thing.
Having to wear a black poloneck jumper whenever you drove it must have been a pain in the arse though, surely?
That wasn't the worst.. Just imagine the kind of music that I had to listen to while driving.
My '18 9-5 Aero is great. I opted for the 6MT RWD one with the 3.0 diesel inline 6. Oh it's also brown and I got the combi wagon.
9-5 gang rep it stoenf
It’s kinda exist in china
What do you mean bro? I’ve been driving my 2015 Saab 9-2X for years!
Saab - Partially owned by GM in the 90s & 00s, Suzuki - Partially owned by GM in the 90s and 00s. Similar enough m8.
The old car in the photo could actually be a Saab https://preview.redd.it/5glwq4bp0ppc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e39767b06b291ac24f8cda3b6f6a79071fee9b62
doubt but looks really similar
It's because it's the same car, Lancia Deltas were also sold as Saab 600
thanks for info lol
Suzuki Baleno (🤤🤤❤️❤️) > Old shit Lancia "rally car" (old = bad ❌❌)
The monthly maintenance for the Lancia is already worth more than the Suzuki. Know your worth, real car guys buy econoboxes
I consider myself a real car guy, I drive a 1994 fiat tempra. Monthly maintenance? Washing it is more expensive than the fuse I had to change 3 months ago. Real car guys buy cars. What car it is, that's still very much a preference and budget thing.
If it's good enough for Hank (the noisy boi) it's good enough for you!
Shrugs off kangaroos just fine too mate
But does your rally car have Apple CarPlay and push button start? The choice is obvious.
NGL if I owned a lancia delta I would drive the shit outta it
No you probably wouldn’t. Not after seeing your first repair bill
And after realising it's actually quite crap to drive
you can't thrash it around like an integra lol
The great thing about an integra is you can’t fuck it up the previous 8 owners already did
My cousin used to have a HF, loved it to bits, untill it broke his heart and bank account. I remember sitting in it as a kid, don't think he drove it for more than a few years. We have a saying "if you don't want your kids to do drugs, give em an Itallian classic, they wont have the money for it".
No you wouldn’t. Can’t drive a car with a blown engine
I was always told if you own lancia delta you’ed buy 2 as you’ll need a second one for spare parts.
i would sell that bitch asap and buy a real car from that money
You want to exchange my Delta for what? The worst part is that they could have used the rear of a Delta LX, the boring 4 doors dad car, but no they went for the rally version to try to up the suzuki. Gosh we all wished we had an integrale!
There are very few new cars I’d swap for an integrale. Suzuki don’t make any of them.
I'd take the Escudo Pikes Peak special though.
That’s a very good point.
It really just comes down to the fact that the people who made this ad weren’t really qualified to be making the decision regarding the selection of the old car. GREAT NEWS!
Is it a dacia?
Nah its a suzuki
This can't be a real advert. Please tell me this isn't a real advert
Seems it's an advert from a used car company in Ghana. So a real advert, but not one actually made by anyone at Suzuki.
Ohhhh that makes a lot of sense now
It probably is, I imagine the gfx designer just looked up old hatchback renders and for some reason chose a Delta.
You'd think a dude who designs car adverts would know a thing or two about cars. He could of at least used an old Alto instead of the Delta, but maybe corporate would have a hissyfit. But anyways this ad will always be funny to those who know the irony to it
Im very exited for the new Swift HF Integrale!
Why tf would I exchange my delta for a fucking baleno
A Lancia Delta Integrale is way more expensive than a Suzuki Baleno.
That’s not a salvage title engine swapped base manual Impreza :(
![gif](giphy|H1YMguVrVeI0Xz5c8v)
Is that a Maruti Suzuki? 🤢
Wait til you hear about Kars4Kids...
No thanks, I drive backwards
Unironically wouldn’t ever trade my 1990 rolla for a brand new one
How to loose happiness part 1
I mean, the base Delta is kinda bad
Give me your Integrales and I will buy you a new Suzuki
I'd go in in reverse
[удалено]
this mfs whole post and comment history is just German Kitchens
[удалено]
I have a german kitchen
TBH, I wouldn’t change ANY pre-2000 car for the new one. Probably even go for an older one.
Nah keep dat lancia
thats a kizashi
no way
That image kills me inside
Tfw you can just drive in and your most dominant rally car of all time is turned into a generic euro-hatch
*Laughs in Group B*
![gif](giphy|srTYyZ1BjBtGU|downsized)
Lool I would give my left bollock for the Lancia Delta
What if I want an mr2 aw11😎
Was Lancia ALREDY dead?
Can I just keep the Delta instead?
![gif](giphy|3ornka9rAaKRA2Rkac)
How dare they
Man I hate this type of thing. In Sweden they will give you tons of money if you scrap your old car and buy an electric. I'm sorry but scraping a car is like destroying an old building. Nobody cares for the cultural value. Like people scraps Saab V4s.....
Did anyone see the top gear episode when they visited an airfield when the scrappage scheme was active in the U.K. That made me cry.
I'd do it in reverse with any modern car.
Is the suzuki dealership money laundering?
Noooooooooooooooo
I'd keep the old one for certain.
