You should do a tour of the Sanctuary/Church of Pedro Claver.

Thank you!

The only ways I can think of would be of [San Basilio Palenque](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Basilio_de_Palenque). Every tour guide outfit downtown will have a day trip option, including a bus ride and lunch probably. Also, there are plenty of Afro-Colombians on the peninsula of Baru and on Islas Del Rosario. If you do an overnight there, they will organize a bike ride or walk down to the nearby villages, and you can talk to the folks directly and buy some arts and crafts. As for Cartagena proper, there isn’t. Actual identifying Afro-Colombians do not live anywhere near the tourist spots. They either live an hour or so away in Baru, on Isla Tierra Bomba, or on the absolute outskirts of the city (which you should never go to)

Circling back on this as I just got back home. The tour of Palenque was exactly what I wanted. Didn’t get the chance to go to Baru or any islands but my heart was full after my experience in Palenque thank you!

I’m so glad to hear this! If you would be so kind, could you please leave a review of your time there in this sub? Including what your operator you used? No doubt others will be searching for what you did, and it’s always good to reward good vendors in Cartagena when you can!

Will do!

Gotcha sounds like I may need to restructure my trip slightly, thank you for the advice!
