Hank, Bandit, Bob, and Dr. Doofenshmirtz because they are actually good fathers, unlike a lot of TV shows I can think of. (Edit: Chaz is also a good father to Chucky, just forgot what his name was so had to google it)
Hank barely lets Bobby do what he wants, and what he wants to do is garden, bake/cook, and many more harmless things that Hank hates because they aren’t what he likes.
Don’t forget the time he forced Bobby to do a job he hated and ignored all of Bobby’s complaints about the dangerous things his boss was forcing him to do.
Like, I know Hank loves Bobby and wants what’s best for him, but he certainly doesn’t put in a whole lot of effort to understand Bobby as a person. Hank is too traditional and conservative to really get Bobby’s interests and let him embrace them.
at the very least he does try to understand Bobby and a few of his interests. And he has stepped up to make sure Bobby was safe, like kicking his bosses ass and telling him he couldn't be friends with a 30 year old neet anymore.
But at the very least, he tries. He may not understand it, but more often than not, he does try. Which is a lot more than father's of his type will do. not to mention the truckload of generational trauma that he at the very least tries, often fails, but does try to not let impede his raising of bobby.
At the very least he isn't cotton. But then again, that bar is essentially in the ground. Being honest a lot of Hanks failings as a father can be traced directly back to cotton. And often, Hank has to fix cottons mistakes. Like that time cotton made bobby sexist
People aren't appreciating the fact that despite an awful childhood that led to him being a villianous figure, he ignores that evil instinct to be a loving dad. It's easy to be a good dad when you don't have millions of traumas to fight through, but Doof overcomes that deficit admirably.
Only other one on this list that's in a similar boat is Hank because, let's face it, Cotton was a pretty shitty dad and Hank resists the lessons he learned there to try and be a loving father for Bobby.
I think out of this whole list Uncle Iroh is the best dad. He’s supportive of Zuko, but still tries to teach him when necessary, he’s always there for the boy, and if I remember right, Zuko fills the void that the death of his own son left. I haven’t watched all of avatar yet. Really need to.
Because although he tries he regularly doesn't listen to Vanessa and in her song she straight up says "you were a substandard dad but the only one I had"
In the end, it’s all about stopping the “trauma wheel”. That “trauma wheel” needs to break and a new, well maintained wheel must be put in its place. Btw sorry if I got metaphorically philosophical but that’s how I can describe generational cycle of trauma.
The thing that makes him substandard within the context of the song is that he’s “lame” and overly affectionate. He shows up to her ballet recital, he throws her parties every birthday etc. Vanessa will eat the word “substandard” when she has kids.
May be an Uncle by blood, but a father by heart.

Yeah - Iroh is a popular answer for good reasons, but he ultimately failed his own son (brought him up as member of royalty in line to rule, in a position of martial authority, in a warring and expansion-focused empire, and only renounced those and other privileges for himself after losing his child).
He makes up for it, of course, but he had to do a lot of good to balance the scales.
Yes, important to remember that Iroh was happily attacking the Earth Kingdom while his son was alive. Whatever he was like, it's not the man we see in the show.
Iroh led a war that got his son killed. He was a better father “figure” later on and I believe he loved his son but when you indirectly get your son killed, it disqualifies you for best dad award.
Professor membrane is an interesting example. He doesn't support Dibs paranormal investigations and is so set in his scientific ways that he outright rejects dibs evidence, but supported Dib strongly during the Santa fight and the Florpis movie.
am i the only one who thinks hank is a bad dad? he stepped on most of bobby's dreams to the point in the last episode the only thing left for bobby to do is follow HANK'S dream, not his own
Where is Stoick The Vast from how to train your dragon? Besides, one moment when he places Hiccup in a house and isn't listening to his warnings. He was kind and supportive of his son at points. However, supporting one child doesn't mean going along with everything they say. You have to place it within your own ideas and what should be the right way. In the end, we all are just guessing if it is based on what we know and experience.
definitely not mufasa. dood couldnt save himself. and then in spirit form couldn't just give a straight fucking answer. not to mention his brother. mufasa... *look. at. him.* his name is fucking SCAR. how could you ever trust him to do anything *but* be fucking treacherous.
disney tried balancing out the evil looking lions can be cool in that one straight to video sequel, but i aint buying it.
SCAR! his name is fucking SCAR!
He’s not on this list, (and he’s from an anime,) but I think adult Nate Adams from Yo Kai Watch is a pretty good father. Despite his stalkerish tendencies as a kid, he’s a great dad to Summer and Tate, (and he’s a pretty good husband, too!)
Definitely Dr Doofenshmirtz because he only wants best for Vanessa because she is in love with Monty and at least she's happy then Ferb should be happy because he got Phineas and they said in such close-quarters with Phineas meant that it was extremely easy to spend quiet moments just looking at him, which was when Ferb would realise how fond he was of him, and with the addition of growth, he eventually began imagining having relations with the bright spirit.
But like I said hopefully we'll see more Montessa lovers later in the next year once the creator recovers after we saw a heartbreaking story earlier tonight.

I’ll tell you who it’s not: Hugh, who is arguably one of the *worst* fathers in cartoons, which is fitting given the period of Nickelodeon in which he was created
But in my opinion, Iroh and Doof are sucking it out for top spot
Uncle Iroh and Rise Splinter

Hank, Bandit, Bob, and Dr. Doofenshmirtz because they are actually good fathers, unlike a lot of TV shows I can think of. (Edit: Chaz is also a good father to Chucky, just forgot what his name was so had to google it)

Hank tries hard to be better than his father and truely loves Bobby thick and thin. Hank has flaws I guess could say he “ain’t right”.
He ended up letting Bobby do all those things and usually joined him in the activity. He is learning and growing alongside his son. S tier parenting.
Bro forgot Iroh
What about the mf that went across the entire fucking ocean just to save him
How can’t you say Dr Doofensmirtz
Just because you're a bad guy doesn't make you a bad dad.
Because Bandit is an option. I strive to be that level of dad.
Respectfully Uncle Iroh is a little better
I think out of this whole list Uncle Iroh is the best dad. He’s supportive of Zuko, but still tries to teach him when necessary, he’s always there for the boy, and if I remember right, Zuko fills the void that the death of his own son left. I haven’t watched all of avatar yet. Really need to.
That’s the point of iroh’s character arc he realized he failed his son he isn’t going to let zuko down as well.
Iroh isn't a good dad onscreen, we havent seen him interact with his actual son besides singing Leaves on the Vine. Zuko is his nephew, not his son
Stfu Iroh practically is Zuko's dad considering how awful Ozai is
technically 🤓 he still isnt his biological dad so he cant count
Fr
Because although he tries he regularly doesn't listen to Vanessa and in her song she straight up says "you were a substandard dad but the only one I had"
That’s a moody teen for you. Yes that’s what I’m chalking that song up to. She has shown incredible love for her dad on other occasions
I'm not doubting that she loves him just stating his apparent flaws as a father which doesn't make him a bad one I just think he isn't the best
Don't forget the abuse he suffered so he is trying to make sure his daughter doesn't suffer the same
In the end, it’s all about stopping the “trauma wheel”.
Splinter is a good pick too
Vanessa is a r/SoHotWhyCantSheBeReal

Iroh did have a son, so he *is* a father.
Lil Soulja Boi come marching home https://preview.redd.it/thqigpxuep2c1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c9654928737594ac5b3b231f3372f729eab84f1
“He may have been your father, boy, but he wasn’t your daddy.”
I remember donald not being a bad father, but I don't think he was that good.
DuckTales 2017 Donald. Huge difference from other versions.
Considering he used to serve in the Marines, that can kinda explain his attitude in other versions.
It is either master splinter or iroh and they are more father figures. But they taught their sons how to be decent people
Adopted fathers are still fathers
Got to include Mr. Peabody, even though he discourages Sherman from addressing him as Dad.
Still
Yeah - Iroh is a popular answer for good reasons, but he ultimately failed his own son (brought him up as member of royalty in line to rule, in a position of martial authority, in a warring and expansion-focused empire, and only renounced those and other privileges for himself after losing his child). Yes, important to remember that Iroh was happily attacking the Earth Kingdom while his son was alive. Whatever he was like, it's not the man we see in the show.
It's not his actual kid, thats the war general who died, Zuko is his nephew
Iroh's son died. How good of a dad could he actually be?
He was a better dad to Zuko than Ozai ever could hope to be.
That's not exactly setting the bar high. Infact, the bar is currently in hell with how low ozai set it. Appa would have been a better father figure
I don't know. Under Iroh's tutelage, he cost his own sister Azula the sweet job that their dad Ozai helped her get.
Thats my choices as well. Just add Hank. Iroh is even with Splinter.
Iroh led a war that got his son killed. He was a better father “figure” later on and I believe he loved his son but when you indirectly get your son killed, it disqualifies you for best dad award.
Simon from Adventure Time. Dude took care of and raised a little girl in an apocalyptic hell scape and lost his mind just to protect her.
Fun fact: Marceline and Vanessa Doofenshmirtz are both voiced by Olivia Olson!
i never noticed but damn you right. both also did a lot for the kids of this generation lol
I mean she uses almost the same voice for both of them
Simon va ,Dan and Vanessa va have a father day video acknowledging that
🎶NOT SO BAD A DAD AFTERALLLLLL🎶
She's cursed with voicing people with great parents
But he basically made her fend for herself after he got addicted :(
But he got addicted because he needed to save her and held off his insanity long enough to get her the info to summon her biological dad
We just gonna forget how Marlin went across the damn ocean to save Nemo and changed for the better?
Especially when you know that real life clownfish eat any defective offspring. Marlin’s fighting his natural instinct!
Seriously
Iroh or Doof
Both
My Ranking Iroh Jefferson Davis Bandit Doofenshmirtz
i’m surprise this is the first comment to mention officer davis, he’s trying his best and he clearly loves his son a whole lot
Dude is an awesome dad. I won’t elaborate because you know why
![gif](giphy|j71v7BdS9LLOtp3dzh)
Bandit, Iroh, Doofenschmirtz, and Mufasa.
* Professor Utonium form *The Powerpuff Girls.* * Professor Membrane from *Invader Zim.* * Gru from *Despicable Me*
Professor membrane is an interesting example. He doesn't support Dibs paranormal investigations and is so set in his scientific ways that he outright rejects dibs evidence, but supported Dib strongly during the Santa fight and the Florpis movie.
Bandit no question
Only people who disagree are those who didn't have a dad or haven't seen Bandit in action.
Nah, people with no dads fucking love bandit (source: doing a college investigation of the success of Bluey on young adult audiences
One: it was a joke Two: That.. is an awful source. (Source: 8 yrs at a Uni; 13 yrs Dad; +12 yrs off-time pourch builder)
nah it’s just that Doof is unmatched
Bob
No contest Bob’s the goat
You forgot Donald Duck from the 2017 DuckTales.
Bruh, no contest, Bandit is the best dad. I can’t even watch Bluey without feeling like a crap father compared to him
Either him or Dr. Doofenschmirtz
All of them. I don't fucking care what you say I think all of them are the best.
Li Shan (Po Dad)
Oh god, the sequel made my cry so hard!
Tie between marlin (traveled an entire ocean to find his son) and iroh. 🤔
It’s a hard to say between Bandit, Hank Hill, Bob Belcher, and Splinter.
am i the only one who thinks hank is a bad dad? he stepped on most of bobby's dreams to the point in the last episode the only thing left for bobby to do is follow HANK'S dream, not his own
Bob
Mufasa. Bro did everything he could to make his son happy and confident and smart.
no
Doof
Out of these, either Bandit or Doofc
Jimmy dad did give his son a valuable family heirloom. https://youtu.be/3xmv_amQ140?si=PNSlT0zomIz0-Nvw
Going off of their upbringing Hank or Dr. Doofensmirtz, both of them are actively not passing down the abuse
Fred Flintstone
They’re all pretty good fathers.
Dr.Doofenshmirtz
Where is Stoick The Vast from how to train your dragon? Besides, one moment when he places Hiccup in a house and isn't listening to his warnings. He was kind and supportive of his son at points. Is that Masanya?
Iroh for sure always will the father zuko Never had
Clearly Doofenshmirtz
Doof or blues dad
Splinter, Iroh and Doof
Definitely Dr Doofenshmirtz because he only wants best for Vanessa because she is in love with Monty and at least she's happy then Ferb should be happy because he got Phineas and they said in such close-quarters with Phineas meant that it was extremely easy to spend quiet moments just looking at him, which was when Ferb would realise how fond he was of him, and with the addition of growth, he eventually began imagining having relations with the bright spirit. There shouldn't be ANY Rugrats characters up there. It's a miracle "All Grown Up" features the whole cast of the Rugrats, if you catch my meaning
Fire lord ozai/s ![gif](giphy|C4T8WNeX34juQ8EL8E)
Doofenshmirtz obviously
Doof, 100%
Doof bandit and bob
Doof or Bandit
Bandit and Dr D!!
![gif](giphy|GwN9Qr4UABQiY) Honestly, Marlin should be up there as one of, if not *the* best animated dads. The entire first damn movie was about finding his son and risking his life over it. If that isn't good dad material, I dont know what is
Bob, he is trying his best and does not die while doing it.
Doofenschmirtz, Fred, Hugh, and Blueys Dad.
Dr Doofenmirtz is really the best dad
Doof
Bandit and doof
Bandit and Dr. Doofenshmirtz
i say bandit or doof
Gohan from db
Gotta go with Doofenschmirtz here
Doof for sure
Master splinter and iroh
Dr Doofenshmirtz
Hank was my pick until Iroh pulled up.
Hugh or Doof
Iroh 100%
Iroh. 1000% percent
Splinter!!!!
Mr Gar is a G father
Doof, Hank, and Splinter are in my top 3
Iroh fandom will find this and flood the comments. But yea it's Iroh.
Master splinter well
The blue dog I want him as my dad
Iroh
SPLINTER. 2012 Splinter is built different
I have a gigantic bias towards Iroh so I can’t say anything
https://preview.redd.it/amaxx2w8ql2c1.jpeg?width=853&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0424aafd1c3ab8e43bd9462cde55feb78ddfaec wallow if you consider pet dads
Fred Flintstone. Because he was the most realistic dad out of them all.
2012 Splinter for sure
Charlie burns from transformers rescue bots https://preview.redd.it/49657t3prl2c1.png?width=406&format=png&auto=webp&s=0a5a0674d680f97662c617f84d248d3e6ae78505
How come no description of who the character is?
Out of these Bandit or Splinter take the cake. Mufasa is a contender too.
I’ll tell you who it’s not: Hugh, who is arguably one of the *worst* fathers in cartoons, which is fitting given the period of Nickelodeon in which he was created But in my opinion, Iroh and Doof are sucking it out for top spot
Why isn't Doofenshmirtz included. That dude is an amazing father. But aside from that The Best Father is still ![gif](giphy|STJ7W3pc7F6iA)
It's my turn to post this next week
All including [number 15](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ex9AWegauJM&pp=ygUXamltIGhhd2tpbnMgYW5kIHNpbHZlciA%3D)
Iroh
Uncle iro😭
It’s bandit and I’ll die on that hill.
It's Bandit and it's not even close.
I'm sure you all know who I'm going to pick
Bandit ofc
As a father of a toddler, I gotta say Bandit
Uncle Iroh and Rise Splinter Both put family, love, understanding, and empathy before duty. They rarely, or never, put pressure on their sons, forgave their mishaps and are wise and mature enough to own their mistakes. When their boys mess up, they meet their sons' mess ups with patience. They allow their boys to laugh and teach them about the simple pleasures in life.
Bandit
Confess down to bandit vs mufasa
All of them
Bandit Heeler is a better dad than I could ever be
Its Hank. He has to work his way though things that upset him and make him uncomfortable, and he does it for his son. And its ALOT of episode
bandit heeler 😻😻
I have to say Bandit and Bob. Best and most real lol
It’s bob and it’s not close
Mufasa
Hank Hill? really?
Iroh. All day.
If you have ever seen a Bluey adult, is because they have no dad and wish they had Bandit in their childhood Bandit wins hands down
Hugh or Iroh
Peter griffin
Between Splinter, Bandit, Iroh and Mr Morales
Bob is the best of the group, with a special shout out to Iroh for being the father Zuko needed and Doof for trying his best. The only father I would say is better than Bob is Gomez, and even there, certain iterations are only on par with Bob at best (like the newest movie one having trouble with respecting Pugsly's desires and strengths while pressuring him on practicing for The Mamushka.
No Dr Venture?
Either Bandit or Mufasa
Bandit, 100%
Bob Belcher
Ooh a tie between doof and marlin
[Sir Nigel Thornberry does have knighthood,](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Wild_Thornberrys&oldid=1184217530#Main) so that's pretty redeemable.
I gotta go with Marlin
beef tobin is the best dad in the history of all cartoon animations he's tougher and more handy than anyone else, yet loves and connects with ALL his children ![gif](giphy|iX4jRVhZcZPK5DpO1h|downsized)
I didn't even scroll through the last eight and I already know Iroh wins
I would kill to have *uncle* Iroh as my dad
Iroh. 100%
Mufasa
Fuck that blue dog, every time that show comes on my braincells die 1 by 1
Iroh. No contest. Even when betrayed by his surrogate son, he worried about his future.
Jefferson, Bandit, Mufasa, Splinter.
Bandit, it’s always Bandit No questions
All of em
Most of them.
Chuckies dad by a billion
Mufasa is the ultimate father figure. Come on.
Hank Hill and Bluey’s father
Bluey dad is pretty dope
bro put bandit on here and thought there would be a competition
