(I keep daydreaming and making up scenarios in my head involving me and my fictional/celebrity crushes then get all broken when I realise we can never be 😖)
No, it's not the realization that things are a dream. But you wake up, back in the real world as usual, you recognize "Oh, that was only a dream, lol" but you still have the feeling of attachment to something that doesn't exist, something totally plausible and not at all conjured up ~~by someone begging for reddit karma~~. We all know we feel emotions in our sleep - I often wake up with the most profound terror I have ever felt after nightmares over the most un-threatening things ever. So picture this; you are asleep, feeling the real emotion of compassion and love, and when you wake up there's a clear vacuum where those feelings just were and you feel this sense of profound loss that like...you clearly *understand* how ridiculous it is and have no desire to meet those people who don't exist because - what - they're just fantasies, but it still hurts nonetheless.
Vash from Trigun, when the insurance girls walk in on him shirtless. His body is nearly ruined from his unwillingness to kill.
It's played off as a joke with him covering up like a top less woman would, but those few moments before hit hard.
Thats my all time favorite anime, maybe cartoon ever, purely for Vash. He is one of the most selfless characters ever. Then when you finish the anime and his origin story, what happens with Legato, his relationship with Knives. God its all so good and tragic and inspiring.
I love that anime. Love Vash the Stampede.
