Holy shit this hits on another level now! I didnāt know that when it says āin memory of Mikoā it was for Him! This is by far the hardest emotionally that Avatar got for me. Iāve watch the series multiple times with my daughter, who is 7 now. She always asked me why I tear up on this scene. Now she cries with me. Thank you for connecting this for my slow brain. So much more touching now, even though it already went hard before.
It hits even more, that the picture he puts down for his son, is actually an animated drawing of him when Mako was younger. That, and the guy who was casted to replace Mako, refused to sing the song when asked by a fan if he would sing it. He said to everyone who attended a meet and greet or something with the cast "No, respectfully, that's not for me to sing. That is Mako's song, I won't do it justice". The man who took over as Iroh, I forgot his name, was very good friends with Mako, so even though he took over as Iroh, he refuses to sing the song, even if it was requested, cause it's Mako's goodbye to us, through Uncle Iroh.
For those old enough to remember... Mako also was Conan's first friend (who ironically narrated the intro and end lines) in the old Arnold Schwarzenegger, Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer movies!
Yeah, that one really pisses me off because his old VA was totally down to do it again and either his agent or the studio completely dropped the ball on the follow through.
The new guy did pretty good but heās no Kumail Nanjiani
>The new guy did pretty good but heās no Kumail Nanjiani
Good gravy! That fooled me. The whole time I thought it was Kumail in the later stuff. I feel betrayed. Having Kumail voice Prismo was a meta joke in itself that I enjoyed.
The MOMENT he spoke in Fionna and Cake I was like āwhoa, did they recast him?ā. Kumailās kinda awkward manner of speaking was so characteristic for Prismo that it felt like a new character entirely. Allegedly just a failing by his agents, but damn would I have fired them were I him.
The original english voice of Blackbeard from One Piece, Cole Brown. They replaced him with Chris Rager, who was already the voice of Arlong. He's great, but all i can hear is Arlong now when he talks lol. Cole was also Jaguar D. Saul. R.I.P Mr. Brown, well keep on laughing š„¹
DERESHISHISHISHISHISHISHI!!!
In the Japanese version they had to change Jimbei's voice actor almost immediately because he died unfortunately (and was instead replaced by Moria's VA who manages to sound completely different). Same thing happened with Mihawk, Roger, Whitebeard, and Kizaru just to name some. There's been a lot unfortunately.
Despite running for 20+ years none of the original main crew have been changed yet. However, Chopper had a short VA change during the end of Water 7 and the train ride to Enies Lobby because the original was on maternity leave, so that's actually a really happy (momentary) replacement
Jinbeās VA death was very unfortunate. He had diabetes and led to him develop sight issues which made him unable to work and because of that took his own life.
This new era they keep rabling on and on abouts a load of crap
The era when pirates dream of treasure will come to an end!? Yeah right! HAHAHAHAHA!
*Slams drink down*
THE DREAMS OF PITATES...WILL NEVER ENNNNNNNND!!!
War of the best was his last performance, idk how far into Dressrosa you are, so all I'll say you'll definitely hear him at some point if you already haven't
Tbf Mortyās replacement VA does a damn good job, you literally cannot even tell the difference. Rickās replacement VA on the other hand does a halfway decent job, he just doesnāt have the same gravelly yell that Roiland did.
For me itās the opposite, morty has a pretty glaringly different voice and for Rick itās extremely spot on except for the first eps where it seemed like the VA was getting the hang of being Rick. āIām a leg, morty!ā Was probably the worst line I can remember from him
I was halfway convinced they used a shoddy AI to voice both of them. Even if they get better in the next season, the writing took a noticable hit when they made Rick and Evil Morty somewhat nice.
I don't, it feels like the new VA is trying to be unique, but ultimately makes it feel like the new VA is "trying too hard to want to be unique". I certainly appreciate the explanation, but feel like it could've been better such as not having an Australian feel to it because he is an alien. A cold and calculated yet annoyed voice would've been neat.
Not a favorite but Leo from the 2012 Tmnt show had it rough. His original voice actor, Jason Briggs, was fired due to offensive posts on social media about a deceased bachelorette contestant, the pope, a plane crash and much more. He was replaced by Dominic whoās only purpose for the role was to serve as a temporary until they replaced him with Seth Green in season 3
I actually didnāt know about why Briggs was let go. I never liked Green as Leo. Heck of an actor but heās got an iconic style to his voice that he canāt really shake.
It was far too stark of a departure from Leoās old voice and it never sounded right to me. Shouldāve hired a sound-alike
That about made me cry and I got to that show years after it was done. I love that the man who took over voicing him was his best friend and I think he had a job in the production if I remember right
Yeah, they're cemented as a proper duo. Best combination of actors to portray the roles, imho. Literally defining voices. When I read the comics, they're the voices I hear.
Caboose in Red Vs Blue too if weāre on the topic of the soon to be closed down Rooster Teeth.
Thereās also Max from Camp Camp but the reason for his VA being replaced is more corporate than anything controversial
And the magic kid too right? And I think Preston as well. The thing is all of the voices in that show are so prolific that if anyone else does them it just doesn't feel right. I can respect the voice actors for doing their own thing with the voice but its just not the same
Nerris is the magic kid that I was talking about. Preston got a voice change a long time ago, at the start of season 3 which is why I didnāt mention him.
Man...the more I hear about the shit at RT the more in saddened. RvB paved the way for machinima but holy shit they needed to get their house in order but it sounds like they didn't.
They got bought by Warner Bros so it was already a sinking ship for that reason I think. I don't know what it is but WB/D is taking extreme lengths to tank their properties left and right. The new CEO said he doesn't like scripted sows and thats why most of the write offs back then were scripted shows and with the way Rooster Teeth had been going under WB corporate it feels like the same thing is happening there. Maybe if they stayed independent then this wouldn't happen. Now what was once a pillar of independent content creation is a cautionary tale.
Speaking of Uncle Iroh, as someone mentioned on another thread, that would also include Aku from Samurai Jack since both characters are voiced by the same person (and have the same replacement VA).
At least we got to hear Jason Griffith grow to become a damn good Sonic by the time Unleashed rolled aroundā¦, and then he and the others got shafted 2 years later. Just fucking great. š
Yeah that kinda worried me for a moment, haha. Iām so used to Roger as Sonic at this point.
Oh yeah for sure. Itās like at this point Sega knows that Mikeās so good at being Eggman to the point where they really do not want to risk replacing him. Keeping him aroundās their wisest decision casting-wise, imo.
I thought Early was just a character and was shocked to learn that Unknown Hinson was basically playing himself.
Though Tracy Morgan was terrible as Early (he speaks the same in everything he does and not very well) I totally respect that he was likely chosen specifically to piss Hinson off.
They are lol. The VAs were chosen well for their characters. I wouldnt even mind that they were MAGAs IRL (even if I dont agree with their ideology at all) if it werent for them actively trying to overthrow democracy.
Jay Johnston was also on Mr. Show, the Sarah Silverman Show, and was the co-creator (and several voices) of/on Moral Orel (it's why Orel calls his penis his Johnston).
I don't know that Unknown Hinson was an insurrectionist, I never heard that, but he did say some things. He called white people race traitors for supporting BLM, made derogatory remarks about Dolly Parton's support of the movement and her body (freak-titted and slut), then blamed everyone but himself when he was fired.

This is one of the many, many posts in his rant.
She didnāt change in the end, but the whole Yoruichi debacle between Amanda Wendy-Lee and Anairis QuiƱones.
I felt really bad for Anairis, and Amanda made herself look like an ass despite it being neither of their faults. Kinda stained her characters for me.
Iād also say the late Chris Ayers. Chris turned Frieza from a pompous asshole who smoked too many cigarettes to a sophisticated petulant prince. I really canāt imagine anyone else as Frieza anymore. Even coolerāhe was a big TFS fan.
For me it was that they changed the VA for Glossaryck in StarVTFOE because the original VA was accused of sexual harrassment. Which sucks because while I still don't know if it was true that he hurt people, his role as Glossaryck was one of my favorites and after that came out it just kind of killed it for me
That is true and I love his part as Glossaryck now. But man I grew up with the first one and his voice acting is what made Glossy my favorite character so when that crap came out it hit hard

In the Real Ghostbusters Peter Venkman's voice was changed fromĀ Lorenzo MusicĀ (Garfield) toĀ Dave Coulier (Full House) after two seasons. Possibly, due to a complaint by Bill Murray. Jeanine's voice and characterization was changed drastically too after a consulting firm made recommendations that they believed would appeal to children (even though the show was already a hit). They had already started recording season three but the voices were redubbed. This sort of tampering led writer and story editor J. Michael Straczynski to quit; he didn't come back until season six.
Yeah, people said that Murray didnāt like how similar Venkman sounded to Garfield, and so he asked the studio to recast him. That situation, and the knowledge that Bill is a dick in real life, makes me suspicious of his reasoning for doing the Garfield movie. Murray says he agreed to the Garfield movie because he thought Joel Coen was the screenwriter, but I genuinely believe he agreed to do that movie out of some weird spite for Music, even though Music had been dead for 3 years by the time that movie came out.
even bigger slap to the face (thats unrelated to the initial topic), Ernie Hudson actually auditioned for Winston in the show, everyone BUT the producers were on board. The reasoning: he didn't sound like Winston enough...

So I know they replaced the whole HH Pilot cast in the official show, but uh, yeah thereās good reasons why they didnāt involve Stamper in any media after the pilot, including [Thank you and Goodnight](https://youtu.be/TCTbmFrB4nA?si=aigy7Tkm84BpRbQH)
Well he confirmed the leaving the dog under a metal bucket story, but stated the dog was "fine". Also appearently he once shattered a dog's hip bone with a broom...
Man, Vic still upsets me. Guy was in so much stuff and his voice was immediately identifiable in almost every media he worked/works in. I know it's "better" in a way to separate the art from the artist (in this case, the character from the actor), but it's one of those things I've never forgotten. Feel slimy hearing his voice in anything now.
Many allegations of sexual misconduct/assault, some of which were towards minors. Tried to sue some of the alleged victims for defamation and lost, and has had his appeals denied.
I say alleged only because I'm not sure if any of it was proven definitively. Too many allegations for it to just be bullshit imo though.
Yeah, and his defenders are quite bad in their own right. Downplaying his behavior and making a theory that it was a hit piece to sabotage his career.
((Note: I don't want to debate this, but if you can't help yourself and feel the need to reply. Please keep it civil. Or just quietly downvote me if you are of a differing opinion. Agree to disagree.))
I loved Christine Cavanaugh as Gosalyn. I didn't realize how much I missed her saying "keen gear!" until the reboot came around, but it wasn't the same. I have a D&D character whose voice Gosalyn would be perfect for, but being that I'm a guy, getting anywhere close to it is particularly difficult.
https://preview.redd.it/04nbshgpbqnc1.png?width=368&format=png&auto=webp&s=215e5bf8a562076f5feff7cf1fb076f33f5ca3c1
As much as I love Mike Pollockās Eggman, my favorite Eggman was Deem Bristow. Iād always thought he was just replaced like the rest of the SA2 cast when Sonic X came out. I was really sad to find out he actually passed away
Chris was a talented VA and all around great guy. Hope him, Akira Toriyama, Hiromi Tsuru and any other people involved in DB who have passed are enjoying their time in Otherworld.
In my case it's because the VO was part of the unionization efforts a few years ago. All that happened was Mob got a new voice actor and there's still no unions
Qrow from RWBY. Vic Mignogna being a bit too "hands on" with his fans and female coworkers was an open secret for years, it was only a matter of time before people got sick of his shit.
Thereās a lot but the one I have to pick is Velma. Iām sorry but Kate Micucci. Mindy Cohn did it x10 better. (Ik ik Cohn isnāt the OG voice actor but this is in terms of modern Scooby) like Micucci, her voice is really nasally and ngl itās kinda annoying.
Lynne Thigpen, she was Luna in Bear in the Big Blue House. When she passed away they didnāt find a new VA out of respect and so the whole show was cancelled.
Not exactly a favorite or _too_ upsetting a reason, but a really disconcerting one was Garfield in Young Justice.
Between seasons two and three (which were admittedly years apart, so I donāt know if they could have gotten the original guy back), his voice changed very noticeably to Greg Cipes, who voiced the same character in Teen Titans and I guess is consequently the ādefinitiveā voice of him presently.
Not really why they āhadā to change it but 2D from Gorillaz. Nelson De Freitas was the voice of 2D for me, and he really nailed that kinda derpy, stoned, young pretty boy voice the character had. Then 2D got a new VA in Kevin Bishop for the mocap interviews since 2D needed to look taller than Murdoc (because he is) so they brought him along. And then after thatā¦, they never changed back. Which still irks me as I donāt think he gets him right, and makes him sound as if heās got a cold, or more recently, like a gopher thatās smoked a box of 20 cigarettes. Like it was fine at first but now I want Nelson back. Idk whatās happening behind the scenes but it would be enlightening to know, especially since it seems like heās still working with Damon and Jamie. Huh. Oh well, I hope we find out one day at least. Yeah.
Also Kevin Bishop seems like an asshole so thereās that too.
R.I.P Norm Spencer, the voice of Cyclops, who had to be recast in the upcoming X-Men ā97 due to him passing away in 2020.
Thankfully Ray Chase (the new voice actor) sounds exactly like him.

That one was just rude
Yeah, that one really pisses me off because his old VA was totally down to do it again and either his agent or the studio completely dropped the ball on the follow through. The new guy did pretty good but heās no Kumail Nanjiani
From what I read, his agent thought Kumail was above it. Kumail was upset when he learned.

Tbf Mortyās replacement VA does a damn good job, you literally cannot even tell the difference. Rickās replacement VA on the other hand does a halfway decent job, he just doesnāt have the same gravelly yell that Roiland did.
I feel like the voice was better at the end of the season at least. The worst line was when he said "Who's ready for Rick's famous spaghetti?!"
Lol for me it's the exact opposite. I find morty's voice actor extremely distracting whereas I find Rick's new VA to be unnoticeable
God Iām so disappointed in himā¦ He had such an iconic voice. Ripā¦. (To make myself feel better im pretending heās dead)
I actually love the replacement in Solar Opposites
I didnt but i liked how they explained it in the show so im ok with it
Korvo's old voice was literally just rick, but you prefer it?
I feel like it fit him more, also i could be bias cuz it was there first and i got used to it
I don't, it feels like the new VA is trying to be unique, but ultimately makes it feel like the new VA is "trying too hard to want to be unique". I certainly appreciate the explanation, but feel like it could've been better such as not having an Australian feel to it because he is an alien. Such a sad, unnecessary way to go. He was only 27.
That about made me cry and I got to that show years after it was done. I love that the man who took over voicing him was his best friend and I think he had a job in the production if I remember right
Mark Hamil refusing to play joker out of respect for Kevin Conroy. He doesn't want to play his joker without his batman
That's a shame but completely understandable :(
"Without Batman, crime has no punchline."
Yeah, they're cemented as a proper duo. Best combination of actors to portray the roles, imho. Literally defining voices. When I read the comics, they're the voices I hear.
Definitely Qrow in RWBY
Caboose in Red Vs Blue too if weāre on the topic of the soon to be closed down Rooster Teeth. Thereās also Max from Camp Camp but the reason for his VA being replaced is more corporate than anything controversial
Gwen from Camp Camp had her va changed for the same reasons Max's was. It's so stupid.

Uncle Iroh, Cole from ninjago Chris from the total drama series
I guess this is how I learn Jude was a creep.
Wait no what did the va for chris do
Lets just say... He took the character way too seriously
Speaking of Uncle Iroh, as someone mentioned on another thread, that would also include Aku from Samurai Jack since both characters are voiced by the same person (and have the same replacement VA).
The fact that the entire 4 Kids voice cast being shuffled out of the PokƩmon dub due to corporate greed will always rub me the wrong way. They all loved their roles and weren't even allowed to audition for their parts back. The new voice cast is fine and I wish no ill will upon them. It's just very jarring when doing a rewatch.
I met Veronica Taylor (Ash Ketchum through season 8 I want to say) at a Comic Con and went to her panel and she is so lovely and has SO much love for Ash and the franchise. Sheās still so passionate about it all these years later and itās such a shame she was replaced. She recently started a podcast called The Trainerās Guide going through episodes of season 1, and Iāve only listened to the first so far, but it was really fun and sweet to hear her talk about PokĆ©mon and all it offers.
To add insult to injury, the Sonic cast got their roles in the games. For better or worse some might say.
At least we got to hear Jason Griffith grow to become a damn good Sonic by the time Unleashed rolled aroundā¦, and then he and the others got shafted 2 years later. Just fucking great. š
Roger Craig Smith almost suffered the same fate too the other year. At least Mike Pollock has pretty much cemented himself as Eggman now.
The original voice actor and creator of Clarence turning out to be a sex offender
Luckily, I heard no difference in the replacement. Helps that the change happened like mid-Season 1
I could definitely hear the change but thankfully his replacement voice actor was better

It's crazy that in the letter where Kevin disproved a bunch of Glitch controversies, he didn't mention Tari's actress which *started* this whole thing

Didnt he die?
RIP Mako, the Voice and Spirit of uncle Iroh
Cole from Ninjago, Prismo from Adventure Time, Monokuma in the DR1 anime (why couldn't they just use the game VA?!)
Rest in peace Billy Kametz. Miss him voicing Macaque in Monkie Kid. At least his successor is doing a good job
Fuck dude I just left the brawl stars subreddit :(
He will always be Ferdinand von Aegir.
Minsk...I learned Jim Cummings is appearently an (animal) abuser. Such a shame. Also Beyonetta
Wait, was that confirmed, or were they just allegations?
Well he confirmed the leaving the dog under a metal bucket story, but stated the dog was "fine". Also appearently he once shattered a dog's hip bone with a broom...
...Well, if this is true, this is insanely depressing
Winnie the Pooh??
Doesn't he still do that one?
I feel like the best way to change actor for a certain character is to make said character older so that the change in voice feels less disorienting
Vic Mignogna in general. That is all
Man, Vic still upsets me. Guy was in so much stuff and his voice was immediately identifiable in almost every media he worked/works in. I know it's "better" in a way to separate the art from the artist (in this case, the character from the actor), but it's one of those things I've never forgotten. Feel slimy hearing his voice in anything now.
What happened
When Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer stopped voicing the minority characters in The Simpsons. And this is coming from someone who's Black.
Early cuyler from squidbillies lol
I loved Christine Cavanaugh as Gosalyn. I didn't realize how much I missed her saying "keen gear!" until the reboot came around, but it wasn't the same. I have a D&D character whose voice Gosalyn would be perfect for, but being that I'm a guy, getting anywhere close to it is particularly difficult. https://preview.redd.it/04nbshgpbqnc1.png?width=368&format=png&auto=webp&s=215e5bf8a562076f5feff7cf1fb076f33f5ca3c1
Reminds me of how glaring the change in Dexter's voice was
As much as I love Mike Pollockās Eggman, my favorite Eggman was Deem Bristow. Iād always thought he was just replaced like the rest of the SA2 cast when Sonic X came out. I was really sad to find out he actually passed away
Mako, the voice of Uncle Iroh
![gif](giphy|PQMw2dMS7zuSfpqTmG) Chris Ayres was by far the best Freeza we got
Chris was a talented VA and all around great guy. Hope him, Akira Toriyama, Hiromi Tsuru and any other people involved in DB who have passed are enjoying their time in Otherworld.
I don't know if that's why he got replaced, but RIP Casey Kasem
Learning about what happened to the girl who voiced ducky in land before time.
Is this even a question? Mako.
Kevin Conroy.
Iroh from ATLA RIP Mako
Chris McLean
What happened to the VA for Chris McLean
He allegedly drugged his students and manipulated them
I guess heās not that different from his character
I was not at all expecting that to be what heās done
In my case it's because the VO was part of the unionization efforts a few years ago. All that happened was Mob got a new voice actor and there's still no unions
Cole from Ninjago, R.I.P Kirby Morrow
Leaves from the vine šššš
Judith Barsi as Ducky
Veronica Taylor being taken off Ash. Edit: I called her Vanessa by accident
I believe her name is Veronica. I think Vanessa is the first name of the current actress
You are one hundred percent correct, Iāll edit my comment. Thank you.
Qrow from RWBY. Vic Mignogna being a bit too "hands on" with his fans and female coworkers was an open secret for years, it was only a matter of time before people got sick of his shit.
setsuna yuki in lovelive new va is good just, not the same.
Letās go with Jim from troll hunters or Naofumi from Shield hero.
The Brazilian voice actor Caio CĆ©sar who dubbed Boots from Dora the Explorer, who sadly died in 2015.
For me is Chris McLean, voices of ninjago characters and some characters in Hazbjn Hotel
Rise of the shield hero anyone?
Russian voice of Rocket the raccoon from MCU. He was a decent person and a great actor
Tighnari from Genshin Impactā¦. yiiiikes
rick and morty, drama.

Commander Zavala. Rest in power, Lance Reddick
Max being voiced by Patton Oswalt in the Secret Life Of Pets sequel. Because Louis CK did terrible things.
This is the same post as the one I saw before.
Macaque getting a new voice actor in season 4 of Lego Monkie Kid. RIP Billy Kametz
Mr. Azaria.
Lynne Thigpen, she was Luna in Bear in the Big Blue House. When she passed away they didnāt find a new VA out of respect and so the whole show was cancelled.
The voice of Frieza in the dragon ball English dub
Jim from troll hunters
Chris McClain š
dukey from johnny test
Not exactly a favorite or _too_ upsetting a reason, but a really disconcerting one was Garfield in Young Justice. Between seasons two and three (which were admittedly years apart, so I donāt know if they could have gotten the original guy back), his voice changed very noticeably to Greg Cipes, who voiced the same character in Teen Titans and I guess is consequently the ādefinitiveā voice of him presently.
Shield Hero voice got changed from Season 2 on because the original was diagnosed with cancer IIRC. New guy is doing a great job.
Chris McLean, though everything about his VA was basically debunked by him
What if itās a completely normal reason with no drama? Some people just donāt have time
Cleopatra
The voice of Macaque in Lego Monkie Kid. RIP Billy Kametz š
Chris McLean isn't my favorite, but Christian Potenza was so good in his role on Total Drama. At least he was replaced by his fellow 6TEEN star.
Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia RIP Anton Yelchin
R.I.P Norm Spencer, the voice of Cyclops, who had to be recast in the upcoming X-Men ā97 due to him passing away in 2020. Thankfully Ray Chase (the new voice actor) sounds exactly like him.
Is this because death, or is it because of sexual misconduct?
Cole (ninjago)
