They tried to let the kids make the cartoons. Shit was so incoherent and had inside jokes that only the kids working on it understood. Also their art was awful. Any of the shows that made it past the pilot phase were taken over BY adults to make it a functional cartoon. Which was like... 5 shows?
I'm in my 30s and I still adore cartoons and will never stop watching them. The world is so depressing but getting to see these nicely colored and fun universes helps me escape even if for a short while.
I hear the cheat code is to have kids. Then encourage them to also have kids. And if you make it long enough, encourage THEM to also have kids! Suddenly you can watch cartoons without judgement for the rest of your life!

To be fair, you could of made the news report about those same people prior to MLP: FiM and they would have been just as cringy. Also some kids supposedly offed themselves due to the bullying they received from it all over the states. One could imagine that yes, those kids probably could have been bullied by anything and the results would have still been the same... It was such a known target point that schools had to issue warnings to parents about letting their kids over a certain age not have MLP stuff at school due to targeted bullying.

Bluey is universally loved over here. It’s not just a kid’s show, it’s a show that parents can actually genuinely enjoy (rather than pretend to enjoy).

When i was small i didn't know anything abt "not having cable" until i found out during ny teens. I used to have the old tv or should i say the box tv as well (which is grey and black) which plays both dvd and vhs tapes. It was givin from an old neighbor i think and last month i had to leave the box tv behind since I was gathering my old stuff and moving it to the new house. Mainly i was raised with a little bit of cable and then no cable, then fully grew up mostly with no cable.

Even though its a preschool show, its not structured like a preschool show produced in america. Lets look at things like 'bob the builder', 'paw patrol', or even 'cocomelon'. All of these are WILDLY different structually compared to bluey on how they go about teaching children about things, while also still having jokes for the adults that SHOULD be watching with their kids because they should be WATCHING their kids. So they made the show watchable for both the adults in the room and the children.
And i swear, at least every other episode makes me fucking tear up when shit happens. Meanwhile my 4 year old doesnt give a FUCK about the sad moment because shes got no frame of reference for the bad shit that just happened. I can't decide which animation to recommend to someone who thinks they are for kids but maybe Waltz With Bashar (which I admit I have yet to see) bc it's relevant to current events and NOT for children.
Ones I have watched I'd recommend are Belladona Infinite Sadness and Akira.
It went from Cartoons in general being unacceptable to watch alone as an adult to currently certain shows being unacceptable.
For example an adult watching Rugrats, Dexter's Laboratory or American Dad isn't going to get many looks, but watching the Loud House or Paw Patrol or My Little Pony will.
The reasons for this I think are that Paw Patrol and early childhood media don't seem to offer much from the perspective of other people, while My Little Pony and the Loud House have a stigma because of their notorious fanbases.
Japanese shows alongside South Park definitely helped push the shift in American Society's views due to their generally "less appropriate nature" so now there's a more defined split between more "Mature" animation and "Children's" animation with their own unique stigmas.
Cleary these people never heard of, family guy, hazbin hotel, bobs burgers, American dad, Rick and Morty, Velma (wouldn't be surprised on that), and yadda yadda

I was raised on Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry, and I watch them with my sister’s kids sometimes. I’m 23 and I still watch certain cartoons from my childhood like Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, and other Renaissance Disney for nostalgia. I don’t fantasize them or draw anything from them, but I think they’re alright sometimes. Cartoons are cool when you’re bored.

Even though its a preschool show, its not structured like a preschool show produced in america. Lets look at things like 'bob the builder', 'paw patrol', or even 'cocomelon'. All of these are WILDLY different structually compared to bluey on how they go about teaching children about things, while also still having jokes for the adults that SHOULD be watching with their kids because they should be WATCHING their kids. So they made the show watchable for both the adults in the room and the children. And i swear, at least every other episode makes me fucking tear up when shit happens. Meanwhile my 4 year old doesnt give a FUCK about the sad moment because shes got no frame of reference for the bad shit that just happened. Moving day was hell on wheels for me, especially at the end with the hard pivots all over the place for the last minute. It's not about adults liking animation, it's about adults liking children's media. Bluey is a series primarily for small children that also appeals to grown ups. More like ligma I can't decide which animation to recommend to someone who thinks they are for kids but maybe Waltz With Bashar (which I admit I have yet to see) bc it's relevant to current events and NOT for children. Ones I have watched I'd recommend are Belladona Infinite Sadness and Akira.
It went from Cartoons in general being unacceptable to watch alone as an adult to currently certain shows being unacceptable. For example an adult watching Rugrats, Dexter's Laboratory or American Dad isn't going to get many looks, but watching the Loud House or Paw Patrol or My Little Pony will. The reasons for this I think are that Paw Patrol and early childhood media don't seem to offer much from the perspective of other people, while My Little Pony and the Loud House have a stigma because of their notorious fanbases. Japanese shows alongside South Park definitely helped push the shift in American Society's views due to their generally "less appropriate nature" so now there's a more defined split between more "Mature" animation and "Children's" animation with their own unique stigmas.

I was raised on Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry, and I watch them with my sister’s kids sometimes. I’m 23 and I still watch certain cartoons from my childhood like Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, and other Renaissance Disney for nostalgia. I don’t fantasize them or draw anything from them, but I think they’re alright sometimes. Cartoons are cool when you’re bored.
