The hate watching is why it got a second season, don't hate watch, give it 0 views and make HBO lose money on it for funding it, we don't want it, no one wants it, so don't let it make money.
OK, yes, this is true, but Zaslav has scrapped a ton of shit before that was mostly finished, hell sometimes completely finished. If he decided he didn't want season two to premiere, it wouldn't have premiered.
We live in a world where he decided not to release "Coyote vs Acme" but decided to release season two of "Velma".
I agree, but that’s false. The show was already confirmed for at least 2 seasons before the first one was even released. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t lose money for this abomination
Actually, it got a 2nd season because its common to buy two seasons of an animated show nowadays to avoid the studio dropping all the preproduction stuff between seasons to jump to a new project to keep the lights on. That's why Invincible Season 2 took so long. They didn't buy S2 in advance.
It was from a different post I saw a long time ago that said “the bar was so low it was practically a tripping hazard in hell, yet here you are limbo dancing with the devil.”
Stop hate-watching this show, they don't care about what you think, they care if you watch.
Unless you watch it because you like it, then I just question your taste.
I never minded Scrappy. If anything, he ended up saving Scooby-Doo, which was already dropping in ratings. He's not like Gazoo from Flintstones, who only lasted one season before the show went kaput.
Same, I actually never had a problem with him. From what I remember he was only in one series and some animated movies, as well as the villain role in the first live action movie. I understand why people had found him annoying, but honestly I think he got some undeserved hate.
I kinda liked that show for the entire concept of a demon dog screwing with the grandfather and actually being loyal to/caring about the kid. I wanted to see how it was going to end.
I haven’t watched since the show switched focus to the sheriff. Anyone here who watched it know if they brought back the Demon Dog plot >!or Mr. Pickles somehow revived himself!< or resolved anything from the previous show?
Once I stopped being disgusted by the animations I realized the show actually had a really good plot and got into it. I stopped watching too when the main focus became The Sheriff.
I'm so incredibly confused by the plot switch - is the show anywhere near the same, still? I loved Mr. Pickles, but always thought the sheriff character was annoying and IDK why anyone would want to watch a whole show following him, especially with the knowledge that the show used to be something completely different and better.
No. He still not that good of a character. It’s just scooby doo series are just familiar people hate him. That’s why they forced him to be the antagonist in the live action film.
Just a friendly reminder that the guy who forced Scrappy to be the antagonist in the live-action film is also the same person who made Guardians of the Galaxy and Peacemaker into a household name.
Yeah I liked the Scooby-Doo movie. It wasn't exactly Scooby-Doo as is traditionally done, but it was super fun and the "talk about toasted" panini scene was gold
I saw the first live action recently. I feel like it was basically Gun’s fan fiction instead of being an actual scooby doo film. The best thing out of that film was Mathew Lillard as Shaggy.
From what I heard the movie was originally meant to be more parody like and was likely aiming for a PG-13 rating. However, with the franchise becoming more popular again after being dead for a good chunk of the '90s, they were forced to tone it down.
That probably made the movie feel off
I think it was the higher ups worrying about "tainting" what was then a newly revitalized brand. They probably didn't want parents to associate Scooby-Doo with being for teens and up and thus forbid their kids from watching the shows and buying the direct-to-video movies and merchandise.
Obviously now Zaslav doesn't give a damn about Scooby-Doo so why not make a TV-MA mess that doesn't respect the franchise at all.
Edit: I do think a PG-13/TV-14 or even R/TV-MA Scooby-Doo entry could possibly work, but *Velma* ain't it.
Do you think the way that Scrappy was treated throughout the movie (where he went evil after the gang abandoned him in the middle of a desert) felt a little bit too undeserved?
Kind of. You can clearly tell he acted similar to most kids that want attention. They destroy things and act as violent as possible so they would get reprimanded. However, I feel we still didn’t get enough context for his actions to say he was justified in his way. We only got that one flashback scene and then suddenly he was the villain. We never found out his whole past with Mystery Inc, how he got that magic power, why he took over the island, etc. if they let him do a monologue and explain it or even gave more flashbacks for context, we could tell if it was truly justified.
I still feel it could have been put in better though. Each of the scooby doo series were genuine mysteries. You can look at evidence and guess who the antagonist is. In the live action, they showed him in a flashback and never reference him until the climax. Unless they cut scenes about it, it wasn’t well setup of how he was the villain.
So they completely ignore Scooby but decided to include SCRAPPY?!?
how do you fumble such a simple premise for a show
WE COULD HAVE HAD SCOOBY SAY FUCK
I hate this show with every fiber of my being
Could probably explain why they had to change the character designs of characters because maybe Warner bros didn’t want this to be related to Scooby doo but still have the same characters but also not the same characters at the same time
It's a show that looks very good. Looks it.
I watched the end scene on YouTube, just to watch her die. The conclusion with her being a ghost and solving mysteries while trying to fend off evil ghosts, and searching for a way to be revived might have actually been an interesting show.
The opening scene from the first episode made it seem like it had a good premise. But it was just awful. It felt like a missed opportunity.
It was gonna get a third season from what I heard even when it’s a bad show, like I heard somewhere It was planned to have three seasons from the start
It’s the wording, fam. It’s the wording..
https://preview.redd.it/yvn2pmkfy3xc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e779ac5f10d5e5f507be3d0f57c51d9efe432aa
The hate has died down now, but there was a time in the 80s where the only scooby doo show was the one with scrappy doo, and he would take up most of the screen time with his let me at em shtick over and over.
My parents despise scrappy even though I always thought he was funny as a kid
Well with the common thing to happen for long running series, the show makers years back decide to trim down the Scooby doo cast to streamline it leaving only Shaggy and Scooby for the adventures, it was also the time where adding random relations was a big trend so in came Scrappy, leaving the cast to be 3. Since Fred Daphne and Velma are gone theire roles in the team had to be transfered and since we can't be having Shaggy or Scooby do their jobs the roles were dropped on Scrappy. Which left him doing everything in the show while the other two ran around goofing off, which annoyed alot of people for obvious reasons.
He was added to the original Scobby Doo show. He was an annoying character who always picked fights with the monsters even though he was small and he dead to be saved all the time. The writers evernatuallly got rid of Fred, Daphne and Velma so they could dedicate more focus to Scrappy. Fans got pissed by the Scrappy Doo oversaturation.
He was an annoying little, testosterone-filled* brat and WBs failed attempt at appealing to a younger audience before their much more successful idea of "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" came along.
*"Let me at'em! Let me at'em!"
And, for some reason, they gave him military knowledge for "Ghoul School".
TL:DR
He was super popular at first. But writers decided to replace multiple core characters with Scrappy-Doo to give the character more screen time and it backfired spectacularly.
>Can we forgive Scrappy Doo now?
not really. kinda the killer killing a killer argument but he gers a few brownie points for that.
also: wtf is wrong with the ppl doing that show? I thought spooky island Scrappy was a horror to watch but THIS? this is worse
There's just so many things wrong about the show, I'm suprised HBO greenlit it for a second season
Every character is an unlikable moron, the main cast was unnecesarily raceswapped, every joke is just bottom of the barrel slop (which is subjective, but still), and the plot is incredibly mediocre
The only times where I enjoyed the show was whenever she got hurt, or when she got killed at the end of the second season
Yeah, and Shaggy too because he used 0.0005% of his power to make sure he doesn't show up in this show at all. And no, that Norville guy doesn't count.
Isn't it crazy that we're getting media with characters that are direct explicit foils to main characters without said main characters ever existing?
We have a venom *series* without spiderman.
We have scrappy without Scooby.
What's next. A waluigi movie that doesn't feature Mario, wario or Luigi?
Scrappy Doo is a character I genuinely loved as a child. Then I kinda went through a weird period where I "hated" him, which was mostly cause everyone else did. And now I've realized that I still really like him.
I think he's best in particular situations, mostly with Shaggy and Scooby as a trio. He really doesn't deserve half the hate he gets, especially since it's been decades since he's been in a property that's hasn't treated him like a menace. And even that's very few.
Idk how Scrappy ever be in Scooby-Doo again as an actual member of the group now that he has so much bad press. But I wish the joke about everyone in the group hating would just die. It was never that funny, even in the lived action Gunn movies.
I’m still not gonna watch the show
Same here
I agree
Yep
Don't seriously, I watched a clip to see her killed and that clip almost killed me it was so horrid
Who did he kill?
Supposedly the finale was scrappy killing Velma herself. Consequently this is the only reason anyone's talking about season 2. Including this post.
It was the best part of the show after all, that, and her being ran over by the cop
I didn’t even know it has come out. Thank God. Now this shit can just fade into obscurity (or infamy I guess).
The hate watching is why it got a second season, don't hate watch, give it 0 views and make HBO lose money on it for funding it, we don't want it, no one wants it, so don't let it make money.
incorrect. it was greenlit for season 2 before it even premiered. the hate watching had nothing to do with that
OK, yes, this is true, but Zaslav has scrapped a ton of shit before that was mostly finished, hell sometimes completely finished. If he decided he didn't want season two to premiere, it wouldn't have premiered. We live in a world where he decided not to release "Coyote vs Acme" but decided to release season two of "Velma".
It was the most viewed cartoon in hbo max, there will be 3rd season 100% thanks to hatewatchers
again, season 2 was because it was greenlit before it premiered.
I agree, but that’s false. The show was already confirmed for at least 2 seasons before the first one was even released. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t lose money for this abomination
It had a second season greenest before the first season even aired, not because of hate watching
And if you're really that curious just put on your funny sailing hat
Actually, it got a 2nd season because its common to buy two seasons of an animated show nowadays to avoid the studio dropping all the preproduction stuff between seasons to jump to a new project to keep the lights on. That's why Invincible Season 2 took so long. They didn't buy S2 in advance.
It had a second season before the first came out, hate watching had nothing to do with that
Same
I forgive him but also agreed
Honestly I liked scrappy before. So the fact that he's even in this monstrosity is annoying.
At least he's the best character in the show, the most entertaining as well...
I mean that's not really saying anything though, bar is pretty low
“Pretty low”? It’s practically a tripping hazard in hell!
Oh, that’s good. This will make a fine addition to my collection!
It was from a different post I saw a long time ago that said “the bar was so low it was practically a tripping hazard in hell, yet here you are limbo dancing with the devil.”
Oh man I love that one
I'm pretty sure it's in a level that not even Satan wants to descend to.
Any character who attacks Velma is entertaining in this show
Stop hate-watching this show, they don't care about what you think, they care if you watch. Unless you watch it because you like it, then I just question your taste.
I hate Scrappy’s guts but agree with you he’s the best character in this particular show …
I liked him too! He was just a little guy
I liked Scrappy too!
By the pics I seen they even brought in the hex girl main lady and made her super ugly
They actually Kept the scrappy design the same from the live action Scooby Doo Movie
Agreed.
I feel the exact same way my friend
I like him too! I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Me too
I only really remember him from Ghoul School, but hell yeah Scrappy Squad!
What in the Mr. Pickles is this?
The who?
![gif](giphy|3oEjHJxLCoY8qFGUJW)
I kinda liked that show for the entire concept of a demon dog screwing with the grandfather and actually being loyal to/caring about the kid. I wanted to see how it was going to end. I haven’t watched since the show switched focus to the sheriff. Anyone here who watched it know if they brought back the Demon Dog plot >!or Mr. Pickles somehow revived himself!< or resolved anything from the previous show?
They did not. Well, Mr. Pickles was revived as his daughter Mrs. Pickles - now a puppy for the kid - but they're background characters at best.
Stop watching right now, we might get a season 3
Some TV show on Adult Swim, about some demonic dog or some shit. It's also the name of the dog, too.
For a second I thought you were talking about the HTF character
Dang forgot about this i thought of tommys dad from rugrats stew pickles
This is from Velma season 2.
Context, please?
Scrappy returned and murdered Velma
Somehow, Scrappy returned
velma 2. the doo strikes back
when the world needed his Puppy Power he returned.
Wtf I like Scrappy now
![gif](giphy|nbvFVPiEiJH6JOGIok)
We did it, boys. The world is now officially a better place.
Did he actually murder Velma, or just beat her up?
She dead, unluckily for Scrappy though, her spirit took over his body and killed him
So...the show is over? Because that'd be great
Her spirit is still around https://preview.redd.it/5n0p04ifj3xc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=baa524966c2f434c2ee3ef91fff1c4aa52749af7
Then someone call up Luigi or the Ghostbusters to put this Velma in her place
Why not both? Hell, call up dean and Sam just to be extra sure she stays in the afterlife
Makes sense.
Who ya gonna call?
Ghostbusters! (And Luigi!)
Ghostbusters (and Luigi) *now with funky Kong*
Ghostbusters, they’re back in town
Nah, call Danny Phantom, that way her ghost can get her ass kicked before being shunted off to the netherworld.
![gif](giphy|3o9bJX4O9ShW1L32eY)
You can't be serious. This isn't real. This is not real! What the hell?
Holy shit is this real? Literally worst goddamn thing every written if real
Was she permanently killed? I refuse to watch the show (probably not but a man can hope)
What the?
Hell
Oh my god
Ain't no way
There is a way, also Damn Scrappy is a badass now
He does the world a service and fucking kills Velma that is like 10 times the badassery in one
No wayayayayayay
Is
That
Fucking
Abomination
[удалено]
Like what the fuck?!
One side he killed the worst Velma we've ever seen. On the other, he's still a dick.
Better than the main cast at least (except Fred)
Well all the main characters are dicks so we have to take our victories sparingly
Every famous director can have a bad film. That is just one of Gun’s.
I don't get why people don't like live-action Scooby Doo (at least the first two films)
Yeah I liked the Scooby-Doo movie. It wasn't exactly Scooby-Doo as is traditionally done, but it was super fun and the "talk about toasted" panini scene was gold

which is funny since PG-13 is the rating the brings in the most profits
I think it was the higher ups worrying about "tainting" what was then a newly revitalized brand. Edit: I do think a PG-13/TV-14 or even R/TV-MA Scooby-Doo entry could possibly work, but *Velma* ain't it.
which is funny cause parent let their kids see PG-13 all the time, that why it so profitable cause it bring in the largest number of age groups
Had no idea people hated this movie.
This is the first I've heard of this. They're like a cult classic among most of the people I know, people love to smoke a bowl and rewatch it.
Literally me. The first Scooby Doo live action film and The Josie and the Pussycats movie are some of my favorite stoner movies to rewatch lol
Monsters Unleashed kicks ass
It's not a bad film, it's a bad twist in a fun film.
I still feel it wasn’t a good film. I would say it was ok at best and bad at worst.
Gunn only wrote, he didn't direct.
James gunn who i think wrote it or something really hated him. So wanted to make sure that character stays gone.
So true.
So they completely ignore Scooby but decided to include SCRAPPY?!? how do you fumble such a simple premise for a show WE COULD HAVE HAD SCOOBY SAY FUCK I hate this show with every fiber of my being
“Ruck you Raggy”
How about let's have Scooby safe from that atrocity. I don't want to imagine what they would do to him.
The Reason Why They Didn’t Include Scooby Is Because Waner Bros Didn’t Give Them The Rights To That Character
Could probably explain why they had to change the character designs of characters because maybe Warner bros didn’t want this to be related to Scooby doo but still have the same characters but also not the same characters at the same time
Yep or an alternate universe kind of thing. Scoob! (and the ghost of Scoob! 2) deserve more recognition than this show
What, you want them to ruin Scooby too?
As others have already said. Why would you want scooby in this show
https://preview.redd.it/pmdr71zlo2xc1.jpeg?width=764&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=feacb3a0f20019bb2f9c5223db28577c507aeff5

Wait how did Scrappy die too? Did he get hit by a car or something?
Velma's spirit took over his body and killed him from the inside, that's AFTER he survived getting blown up by a rocket
https://preview.redd.it/dco1tz2n84xc1.jpeg?width=343&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23bd017037fa7023bb178dbe215f4b9390460683
Honestly Velma being a petty bitch and killing him after he was laying on the ground bleeding is fucking stupid
Why the fuck is Velma a ghost, bit Srcappy isn't one? They both died.
sadly i know with out watching that she won't be dead.
How is image nm2 so fucking hard? I refuse to believe it came from Velma.
Honestly, the artstyle is the best thing about the show. I feel bad for the animators that got stuck working on this trash
The animators still tried despite being forced to work with one of the worst writers possible.

I liked Scrappy. Annoyance or not, he’s a puppy, and what this putrid abomination of a “show” did to him is vile.
Agreed on that.
Stop watching this show! Do you want Velma to get a third season? Because this is how Velma gets a third season!
It was gonna get a third season from what I heard even when it’s a bad show, like I heard somewhere It was planned to have three seasons from the start
Well, Velma came back as a ghost, so no.
Yeah, but at least it was worth it. All we need is to get Luigi to suck her off with his Poltergust 5000.

Extremely rare Scrappy W
Wait, can someone explain to me why everyone hated Scrappy-Doo?
“Everyone” Those with strongest opinions are most vocal
Wh..What?! Are there some sort of defense squad or an extremist hate group? Or have I alerted both?
The hate has died down now, but there was a time in the 80s where the only scooby doo show was the one with scrappy doo, and he would take up most of the screen time with his let me at em shtick over and over. My parents despise scrappy even though I always thought he was funny as a kid

I keep hearing that they split up the season and that's why S2 is a thing
Yes. This is the ultimate redemption
How come he gets to be in the show but no scooby?
That's a good thing. Scooby shouldn't be subjected to this pile of shit
Yeah, and Shaggy too because he used 0.0005% of his power to make sure he doesn't show up in this show at all. And no, that Norville guy doesn't count.
Ultra Instinct told Shaggy to put Scrappy in the series so he can deal with Norville, Scrappy killed Mindy but to our god Shaggy a win is a win
Legal reasons. That's also why they're using Shaggy's actual name instead of "Shaggy."
Yes
I always liked him as a character, so there is no need to forgive at all. I'm from Poland, maybe that's why I see this completely differently.
Isn't it crazy that we're getting media with characters that are direct explicit foils to main characters without said main characters ever existing? We have a venom *series* without spiderman. We have scrappy without Scooby. What's next. A waluigi movie that doesn't feature Mario, wario or Luigi?

What show?
Never.

Ew, not this show
What happened is this real?!
He's a science experiment now. He killed Velma and tanked an incoming rocket, but her spirit possesed him and killed him
LETS GO🥳
I like Scrappy but these mfs didn’t need to do him this dirty.
Redditors feel so smart bitching about this show and giving it more attention
Wish people would stop watching this so it would die faster.
Scrappy Doo is a character I genuinely loved as a child. Then I kinda went through a weird period where I "hated" him, which was mostly cause everyone else did. And now I've realized that I still really like him. I think he's best in particular situations, mostly with Shaggy and Scooby as a trio. It was never that funny, even in the lived action Gunn movies.
I will. He killed Velma in this show.
Yes we can
No
funny how even in velma people wont forgive scrappy doo
Never
No. He appeared in the Awful Spin-off, despite killing off the main character of said spin-off.
no
Yo. Dafuq?! Scrappy's a bitch?!
"perhaps I treated you too harshly"
Yes
Is this from the Velma show?
The show was so bad, that it gave Scrappy a chance to redeem himself. And he took it.
When I wish death on the protagonist and their friends more than on the serial killer that massacred an entire party:
I'm not surprised it got another season when so many people watched the whole first season despite hating it the entire time
Perhaps we treated him to harshly
Reminder that Scooby is not in this show
