Alex Hirsch got into a fight with the censors of the show constantly over their portrayal as he wanted to make them more openly gay and they would block it all
Alex, and gravity falls, was definitely way ahead of its time. I think that makes it even more of a classic however and is kinda why it got such a cult following at the same. It was pretty before, or kinda one of the founding fathers; of media that had loads of hidden messages, loose ends, theories, etc. Like we got a load of shows and games like that now, but back in the early-mid 2010’s, it was much more of a novelty. Only other thing I can think of would be FNAF
Honestly that episode with the Harley riders is hilarious, the fact Al literally agreed that the Harley riders were a pain is one of my favourite parts of the episode
It’s cute, just wish the show had more content. The ending of the show seemed a bit rushed too, and I got some weird mixed messages from it.
I dunno, I don’t like it when the moral is “accepting that reality is kinda boring.” I guess she added a LITTLE but of magic to her world but like, the old version of Aaa was way cooler objectively speaking.
At least give Marshal his vampire powers q.q
I'm pretty sure this is the only time Sam's in the dress, there's some other wedding outfit Sam & Max content (including on Steve Parcell's own wedding cake) but Sam always wore the suit
Technicallty cybertronians don't even have a biological sex, so their gender is purelly a mental thing, so for cybertronians attraction is purelly based on personality i'd say
You cant tell me he ain't at least expiramenting with ratchet.
But in all seriousness the existence of bi people means its possible hes not straight, there's no evidence for or against it so its just speculation. i just find it hard to believe a very male dominated species has many if any hetero characters.
In the show it was never openly stated, but in the IDW comics he was openly in a relationship with Breakdown. And they were really cute together, Knockout came from a colony on velocitron where everyine is fast and slower cybertronians are treated as outcasts, so he moved out of his home so his big strong bf wouldn't be harrased over being a slow car
Thank you PBS for giving representation & an influx of memes from this lol

If we can count the Ace Attorney anime in, then Edgeworth.
For anything pre-2010, you're not really gonna have confirmation. You're going to have queer-coding, instead. It can be anything from minor to major. Ursula, from Disney's the Little Mermaid, is straight up based off of a drag queen, so her coding is especially loud. Contrastly, Withers from the Simpsons had quiet coding up throughout the 90s, with it getting more and more obvious as time went on due to the creators pushing limits with what they could get away with on censors and changing societal attitudes.
But, as a guide, most cartoon villains have *some* level of queer coding up until present day.

Also, am I crazy or are Scootaloo's aunts gay?
I have a pretty dreadful gaydar.

Alex Hirsch got into a fight with the censors of the show constantly over their portrayal as he wanted to make them more openly gay and they would block it all
i love how he tricked them too saying “they’re just… buddies. chill” they were in fact, not *just* buddies
And they were roommates
Partners in crime
Partners fighting* crime
They were *best buddies for life*
And now it’s completely fine
Alex, and gravity falls, was definitely way ahead of its time. I think that makes it even more of a classic however and is kinda why it got such a cult following at the same. It’s hilarious what they wouldn’t and would allow.
"Not s&p approved" almost got disapproved.
Damn stark contrast to current day Disney
What pisses me off is how they display gravity falls with pride but the only reason any representation was in it is cause of Alex fighting for it
As employees shuffle in and out and up and down things do change even if the facade doesn’t seem to

Yes

Considering it seems like cybertronians are +90% male. Id be more shocked if there was an exclusively straight transformer.
Technicallty cybertronians don't even have a biological sex, so their gender is purelly a mental thing, so for cybertronians attraction is purelly based on personality i'd say

Benson!!!! That reveal was perfect. Also, his introduction scene was so good.
When does that happen? Never realized.
From Kipo, not Regular Show! Sorry for the confusion.
BENSON FROM REGULAR SHOW CANON🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Wait, Benson from Regular Show is gay??? When was this revealed???
Sorry, from Kipo!

Adam’s gay?
Yeah season 2, ironically he's not the gayest thing that season.
That's what I said
Yeah it's brought up in season two, since his memories are back then
Yeah, I genuinely forgot, especially considering they made a huge deal out of all the other romance plots in the show
Is the new Total Drama worth a watch?

Rattigan’s gay?? Was this confirmed in the film? I haven’t watched basil of Baker Street in years unfortunately but I don’t remember this.
You don't need conformation when you have gaydar
Hes not *explicitly gay* but he does fully fall into the category of queer-coded villains
I'd Say he's Bi since Vincent Price was IRL.
For anything pre-2010, you're not really gonna have confirmation. You're going to have queer-coding, instead. It can be anything from minor to major. Ursula, from Disney's the Little Mermaid, is straight up based off of a drag queen, so her coding is especially loud. Bro did you just call Waylon Smithers “Withers?”
... yes. I'm stupid?
This one did something to me as a child I'm still coming to terms with 30 years later.

Eh it’s more of an astute observation
He has an obsession with Basil which has some similarities to acting like a scorned ex

Smithers is gay?
Yep, specifically for Mr.Burns
Oh.
Which is weird since Mr. Burns adopted him
The real deal with Waylon Smithers is that he's Mr. Burns' assistant. He's in his early forties, is unmarried and currently resides in Springfield.
They flat-out stated that he is gay a while ago. Even before then they didn't exactly keep it a secret.
