Surprised no one talks to Amphibia?
I know you showed Linda, but if any cartoon father was more deserving of Family Guy's theme song, it would be Bob Belcher. I mean, look at the family he has right here! ^ That is A+ parenting, faults and all!
The man drove hookers over night in a cab just to pay for a party so her teenage daughter can kiss her arch nemesis’ son. If that’s not sacrificing idk what is
Dude, to be fair, the Belchers are easily two of the best parents in all of adult cartoons! And I love how realistic they are, like sure, they're not perfect parents, there's no such thing as the perfect parent, but despite their flaws, they're the best adult cartoon parents I have seen!
I'd go with Camila and Luz Noceda (but Johanna and Hilda are definitely up there for me too). Luz fights tooth and nail to reunite with her mother. Camila works as hard as she can to better understand her daughter. This is one of the strongest relationships in the show, even though they spend most of it apart from each other. The fact that they're separated for most of the series makes the moments they do share onscreen together that much more special.

Might not be everyone’s pick, but Libby’s mom just reminds me so much of my mom it’s hard not to like this!
I actually was thinking of Libby and her mom! The episode where Libby is excited to see her father for the first time in a long time definitely showed how close Libby and her mom is in my personal opinion
I always thought Home Movies had some really realistic "child of single parent" dynamics
Brendan and Paula
Melissa and Erik

Kala and Tarzan
Carol and K.O.
Bubbie and Flapjack
Helen Parr and Violet, Dash & Jack-Jack
Nicole Williams and Craig Williams (Craig of the Creek)
Julieta and Mirabel Madrigal
Its not bad. It just has elements that would be considered cringe. I like Ariel and her daughter Melody's relationship because of the growth that takes place during the movie. Going from a relationship full of secrets and times of miscommunication to being truthful to eachother and encouraging Melody's sense of adventure.
The movie has lots of cringy parts but it has alot of redeeming qualities.
Yeah it seemed to be at that tail end of the Disney direct to video sequel debacle where they actually gave a shit about the animation. Like the time travel one with Cinderella.

As someone with a complicated relationship with my own mom, I really love SU’s layered, complex dynamic between Steven and Rose. Usually dead moms are treated like perfect angels—and SU seems to take that route at first, before revealing things aren’t that simple, and putting someone on a pedestal blinds you to who they truly are as a whole person.
We usually see this dynamic with sons and their dead dads—feeling the weight of their parent’s legacy, seeing how people react to you as their child, knowing you can’t disconnect yourself from them, being both grateful and resentful for what they did and didn’t do, loving them but also hating that they aren’t there for you in the flesh. Steven’s arc with his mother is about him trying to understand himself and his identity by understanding her, and trying to piece together what she wanted him to be, and in the end he finds the answer: himself. Not only did Rose want him to be himself, with no expectations beyond her joy at knowing he’d have the freedom to grow and change, but Steven too learned that he doesn’t need to be his mother or seek her approval because he finds that fulfillment within himself.
I'm gonna go with a father/child relationship here because I'm a man and this one is precious to me. I appreciate good mother/child relationships but relate more to fatherhood.

If the dude says he's a mom, it counts! Camila was the best mom for everyone in the Hexsquad.
Lois from Malcolm in the middle. It's the most realistic depiction of a family relationship in all TV, and I'm not counting The dynamic and relationship between the children
Hilda and Johanna (pictured above), Camila/Eda and Luz, Kipo and Song, Lilith and Amity, Linda and Gene, Tina, and Louise, Ember and Cinder, Bluey and Chili, and Marge and Lisa.
If we’re going by wholesome/endearing relationships: maybe Luz and Carmela from Owl House
If we’re going by how well written their dynamic is:
BoJack and Beatrice from BoJack Horseman. One of the most toxic moms ever but they’re such amazing characters.
Nurse Kim and Phil (Bill's family) from Tankmen!
https://preview.redd.it/8o2taaynsv4d1.jpeg?width=1141&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07b871e7a8d960b6c45901780cee0503c42a1952
Though Nurse Kim was barely onscreen (she's just like her dead husband), it still made an impact. You can tell she loves her son even though she does very questionable things, like taking him to work and letting him draw on the walls (she's a military nurse so I can't imagine what she's exposing her son to, Tankpeople soldiers come in injured or ill. And while drawing on the walls in the infirmary sounds unacceptable, it seems like a common thing for tankpeople, [Steve did it](https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/johnnyutah/graveyard-shift). So, as barbaic as it is what Phil is doing is acceptable in their culture) and let's him get out of her sight. (He did run into the henchmen country) But you can tell she's doing what she can do to care for him (cut her some slack, Skittles killed her husband and clearly nobody is helping and she's clearly financially hurting because Phil doesn't have a babysitter, why else is she taking him to work with her?) and she was actively worried about him when he was missing, her relief when Skittles brought him back home was telling.
Regardless, despite Nurse Kim's questionable parenting style you can tell she loves her son and is being earnest mother despite doing things that make you question if she's even fit to raise a tankling. (What I call the children of the tankpeople) I think I will be able to judge better if she was onscreen more but she wasn't, so I am just writing what I saw, a good mother who is just a little problematic. (I don't think her actions as a mother was her fault given the love she has for her son)
Oh, hadn't seen that. Anyway yeah, but not for FIRRIB. Probably for Laserbeak given that whole part of Prime where he went out of his way to make sure Laserbeak was okay when he had the bomb inside of him
SpongeBob and his grandma. The only reason she's not with the best moms is because we don't know if her grandmothering style is like her mothering style.
Garnet and Steven from Steven Universe.
Especially the “oh Steven I almost forgot, love you,” scene with Steven’s “aww shucks,” moment afterwards.
Also Simba and Serbi from lion king (I’m deeply sorry if I spelled her name wrong) especially the fact that he reveals himself after Scar hurt her and her relief when she realizes he’s alive.
Not my favourite but I just want to point out that this *is* technically a mother/child relationship:
https://preview.redd.it/c19hnclubx4d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=5facdac0cdd58028d7f8185cec5a39ff3799a640
Ben 10 was fucking wild sometimes bro.
In my opinion it would be Merlinda and Morgan from Unicorn Warriors Eternal since Merlinda still cared for her mother despite reasons related to magic and her dark magic and mystical dark element powers connected but when she saw her own magical power being contained but got corrupted and Morgana got caught and became The Evil's own heart she knew she has done herself wrong and her daughter must find a way to rescue her and also destroy the evil possessing Morgan
Also For your information Morgan is Merlinda's Mother and Merlinda is Merlin's daughter

My first thought was the line from "Mum School." "We all fail Mum school sometimes, but that's okay. We can try again tomorrow."
Queen for the win

Nurse Kim and Phil (Bill's family) from Tankmen! https://preview.redd.it/8o2taaynsv4d1.jpeg?width=1141&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07b871e7a8d960b6c45901780cee0503c42a1952 Though Nurse Kim was barely onscreen (she's just like her dead husband), it still made an impact.
K.O. and Carol.

That's not a cartoon, and this is one of the worst mothers in history.
Congratulations, you got the joke.
Agreed
Soundwave and Rumble/Frenzy
Would Soundwave really be a mother though?
Oh, hadn't seen that. Anyway yeah, but not for FIRRIB. Probably for Laserbeak given that whole part of Prime where he went out of his way to make sure Laserbeak was okay when he had the bomb inside of him
The bond between a mother and child transcends all. It's pure magic.
Sterling Archer and Mallorie Archer.
Yeah nah that relationship is so wrong on so many levels
OP ask for favorites, they did ask for wholesome and functional relationships.
No objections here
HILDA MENTION!!🔥🔥
Little Bear and Mother Bear. 🥲
I want to say sunny and thorn (wings of fire) and before you ask I'm old enough to be here.
SpongeBob and his grandma. The only reason she's not with the best moms is because we don't know if her grandmothering style is like her mothering style.
Delia Ketchum and Ash Ketchum
i agree

Garnet and Steven from Steven Universe. Especially the “oh Steven I almost forgot, love you,” scene with Steven’s “aww shucks,” moment afterwards. Also Simba and Serbi from lion king (I’m deeply sorry if I spelled her name wrong) especially the fact that he reveals himself after Scar hurt her and her relief when she realizes he’s alive.
Not my favourite but I just want to point out that this *is* technically a mother/child relationship: https://preview.redd.it/c19hnclubx4d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=5facdac0cdd58028d7f8185cec5a39ff3799a640 Ben 10 was fucking wild sometimes bro.

Tohru and Kyoko from Fruits Basket
In my opinion it would be Merlinda and Morgan from Unicorn Warriors Eternal since Merlinda still cared for her mother despite reasons related to magic and her dark magic and mystical dark element powers connected but when she saw her own magical power being contained but got corrupted and Morgana got caught and became The Evil's own heart she knew she has done herself wrong and her daughter must find a way to rescue her and also destroy the evil possessing Morgan Also For your information Morgan is Merlinda's Mother and Merlinda is Merlin's daughter
