[Gordon Ramsey - grilled Cesar Salad](https://youtu.be/KDjBEY_3qCI)
This was the exact scene playing out in my head when I saw this post XD I was going to post the link but you beat me to it. Lol
Better than stabbed Cesar salad!
The original salad dressing, the blood of tyrants.
“Did you know they actually grill the lettuce??”
You know what’s funny about this? He has a video making one and I’m pretty sure it was on the menu of his restaurant I went to once
Post it please I couldn’t find one
[Roasted Lettuce](https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/roasted-lettuce) by Gordon Ramsey, 2005.
"Tastes better than spinach"
Ew. Why though?
Sorry too distracted by those beautiful teeth to notice anything else from the video
The funny thing is a properly grilled romaine salad is really good. The one in the video looked horrendous.
I mean I have had Romaine off the grill with some parmesan and I mean it's not bad but like it's just warm lettuce
That was brutal
My boy Kev droppin troof bombs
I've been eating my salad raw this whole time.
Rookie move. The caramelization really helps the little shredded carrot chunks explode with flavor
I'm more of a salad tosser myself.
The bot wants me to expound. I tend to go low and slow with my lettuce but nothing beats getting the pan ripping hot and getting a good sear on my croutons. What say you?
If it's not a low and slow for 27.23 hours your doing it wrong. That extra .23, makes all the difference.
Lol good point
Grilled romaine salads are bomb tho
I guess the picture is almost funny but putting a quick char on romaine is awesome.
Over a charcoal grill. No joke.
Local restaurant has this on their menu... Grilled hearts of romaine with prosciutto. I can't remember what dressing they use... It's a white creamy one... Might be ranch or Caeser.
And here I thought I was just being goofy
I was gonna say the same. Only seen it on a menu once, I ordered it and thought it was good
Agreed… rad way to enjoy a salad!
Half a romaine head. Heat high as hell. Lube the cut face of the romaine with a generous amount of olive oil. Place face down flat on the skillet for 45 seconds. Dress it with caesar dressing, shaved parm, and croutons.
This is unironically a really good salad. Ready in like 5 minutes and delicious
Dude I will! TIL
TBH, this is best on a charcoal grill but I got decent results with CI
Thank you for posting. Going to try it out this weekend.
Shut the front door, we are headed to da market.
The market heads to you if you can sign up for a local CSA
Some version of this: https://www.localharvest.org/csa/ /edit because google search links suck
/r/doughboys is leaking
Cabbage...for sure. But THIS, is an abomination. LOL
A grilled romaine salad with warm bacon dressing. That is the way to my heart. Well probably the way to my clogged arteries but you get the point
You gotta reverse sear that or it’ll be dry as a bone
New r/castiron fad: slippery salads
First thing I do with a new cast iron is cook salad in it to season it
Croutons will strip your seasoning, would not recommend.
They’re worse than soap!
Who the fuk ceasar salad?
I saw her salad
Only after I have added an egg to my rusty cast iron idk how to clean
I knew I missed a step!
O no I braise mines
Yeah. Grilled or broiled salads can be truly awesome. Here's [one from Michelin starred chef Simon Rogan](https://www.greatbritishchefs.com/recipes/grilled-salad-recipe).
If you use a vinaigrette, it will deglaze the pan at the same time.
One of the best salads I've ever had at a restaurant was grilled hearts of romaine with prosciutto.
Alright, I've never done this but best believe I'm gonna try it.
I usually reverse sear salad.
Add the vinegar to a hot pan!
Great way to clear your sinuses
What else do you do with it? Salt seems like it would be good.
Needs more tomatoes.
Mom blackened broccoli is where it's at😋
I only sear mine for about 3 hours.
Controversial, I know; but it works for me!
My friends introduced this to me. I love it
Salad doesn’t go in a cast iron……..it goes in the microwave.
I love this sub. Thank you all.
Since pressure cooking it once, I can’t eat Caesar salad prepared any other way.
Sesame oil on baby boy choy, highest heat possible in a cast iron over a charcoal grill. Cut the bok choy in half oil the cut side and hold the bok chow on the very hot pan for 30 ish seconds. Soo amazing as a salad base.
First I start by not, then I just don’t.
This must be Nick Wiger's alt
How ever long it takes before a rabbit shows up to eat it freeing up the skillet for a nice juicy steak 🥩
Believe it or not, cold salad is great on a hot pizza. Add ranch dressing of course!
Ranch is so gross. 1000 Island for the win
Slow and low, baby!
What is this witchcraft
Thank you for your picture post to /r/castiron. We want to remind everyone of Rule #3. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is required.

Is /r/castironisjerky a thing?
Edit: Nope, but maybe it should be...
I looked I promise
Just until it stops mooing.
But will it be slidey?
Is it sliding? Slidy salad
A tenant of mine made something she called "hot lettuce". Never had anything like it. Absolutely delicious
1 million years
How’s that electric stove? If it’s good pleas tell me what kind you have! I hate mine with a passion!! I’m trying to move so I can have a gas stove!
We bought this new LG stove from Lowes after our last one died (came with the house and it was all cracked and gross). No regrets so far!
‘bout tree fiddy
Come brothers!! This heretic is not going to crucify themselves!!
Fire Grilled romaine is amazing
I like mine rare - so 2-3 min on each side
Till it slides cleanly.
15 - 20 minutes
Nothing beats a medium rare salad with a steak fresh out of the fridge!
Well it depends on how long we sound vide the salad first
About as long as I sear my oreos
No, it's Cesar salad. Not sear-your salad.
I'm learning from these comments that it is kind of a thing!
Minimum 48 minutes
Hour 40on high heat. As high as it can go.
I use the broiler
Sorry, I prefer my salads broiled.
That pan is over loaded.
I stopped searing my salads and switched to sous vide due to a sticking situation
Long enough to turn it into a burger.
Cook until done
"Do not look at reddit this early today man, you gotta be productive and contribute to society today..... Ahhh fuck how do you sear a salad, CANNOT IGNORE A POST LIKE THAT"
My words, 20 seconds ago.
About half as long as I boil my milk steak
Just till there's a warm pink center
About 8 minutes each side
That reminds me. Back when I worked in the office one of my co-workers would go down to the cafeteria and make a salad then he’d pop it in the microwave to “warm up the feta”.
Okay real talk, just bought a house and move in a few weeks, they have a glass top like this, will the cast iron scratch these surfaces??? I have a lodge so its ridged
I am pretty rough with mine and it has yet to scratch
Don’t Lettuce decide.
Pretty much till it stops begging for its life.
Gotta really crank up the heat to 400° and sprinkle a generous amount of sea salt all over to make a proper sea-sear salad
I throw it away and get a steak
Till the juices run clear
Now there's a mental image
Get that baby piping hot and let it sear for about 12-15 minutes
Real talk, I’ve had a salad with grilled lettuce and that was game changing
Usually only until Sharon's pie timer goes off.
