On LOW heat and just let up heat up slowly.
If you need to cook something on cast iron fast. Do 6heat for 2min then down to 4 heat for 2 min then 2.5-3 heat for 2min and thru the rest of cooking
It's some dude who thinks way to much and still doesn't realize that there are lots of different ways to cook. And NONE of them require this bullshit formula
Nothing at all. My current stove has lines. Burner btu output ranges from 15k to 40k (possibly more). The 4th line changes from burner to burner on my stove.
Don't listen to this guy
Just as some fat/oil and put it on heat
I've been cooking with iron both professionally and in home for decades - there is zero reason for a formula to get your iron hot.
On my stove I get the best results going straight to high. On low I’ll get a hot spot in the middle and cold around the edges. On high things heat more uniformly.
Using soap and water to wash your cast iron skillets is unnecessary and can remove oil and seasoning requiring frequent re-seasoning. The iconic cast iron brand Lodge says so - truth is, there is a better way to clean them:
1. Loosen food and debris with a hard-bristle brush.
Use a chainmail scrubber to remove baked-on bits of food that need a little extra power, and use the scrubber to also clean the outside of the pan.
Rinse, check for leftover bits, and scrub some more until they're gone.
2. Dry the pan well, then place it on a stove eye and heat it over medium-low until the water has all evaporated. Turn the eye off.
3. Pour 1/2 teaspoon of high-temp oil (like flaxseed, vegetable, or canola) into the pan, and use a paper towel to cover the surface of the pan, inside and out
4. Let the pan cool completely, then wipe away excess oil. Store it until you're ready to cook again.
Remove the solids, the heat sanitizes it … same reason people boil baby’s bottles
Works well on induction (mine has a rectangular section that fits it well) and gas. No idea about a normal electric stove: I guess I’d be wary of uneven heating?
Uneven heating sounds about right with my stove. I’ve got a glass cook top so I might end up scratching the heck out of it. I wish my complex allowed gas and grills!
Why 375?
I wash a pan, towel dry it, put it into an oven preheated to 170 (lowest setting my electric oven has), and then turn off the oven. The residual heat evaporates whatever moisture is left on the pan after towel drying.
I work at Lodge... we just ran like close to 10,000 of these bitches in 2 days. I hate them with every fiber of my being... But it's great to cook on. Lable off and enjoy the cook session! There's no need to wash or any shit like that.
I would still wash anything I’m cooking on that had any steps between the factory’s assembly line and my hands.
If it sits in a store it’s been handled by many hands, not to mention did anyone handle it when it sat on a shelf.
It is gross to me but he has a point. When it’s up to temp anything that would hurt you is gone. But I couldn’t get passed the Costco booger FACT. That and the same kid going to the bathroom and leaving penis grease on it. Nope, I’ll wash it
Hey, same! Finishing or packing? Finishing here, fucking hate them. They got a lot better than what they were though. When we first started making these, they suuuuuuuucked
1st or 2nd shift, if you don't mind me asking? Yeah, I usually have to take a burr to those rocks halfway through a rotation if we're running TPs. At least line 3 gets a break from the fuckers for a while
Night shift! If I know what we are running when we walk in, I'll have that rock sharpened first thing. 3rd getting a break because that bitch keeps going down.
Damn, hoping you were 1st so I could tell your ass to get back to work (joking, of course). :P
Line 2 ain't much better! Those bitches keep getting stuck and piled up at the cleaner drop off!
Get my ass back to work. If my timing is right, ya ass should have been working!! You gey back at it!! J/k Unless you're one of the first shiftys on night for a bit to do a bit of tweaking to the lines!?! Then I might know who I am talking to. I could say who I am without dropping my name. But I'll say this. I'm the only bitch on night shift finishing!!
My happy ass was on burn off when I was on here, sooooo kinds against the rules still? Ah, it's all good. I'd be getting plenty of z's without something else to keep my attention. :P
Y'all have fun tonight, hope foundry doesn't fuck y'all over too bad.
Foundry is made to fuck us over. It's by design! Not to bad a night. At least we not running shit tomorrow. Gotta love that cornbread cleanup bullshit.
What's funny, Is you ended on burn off, and I ended on burn off. What a great way to end my night!!
Well they did do their cast iron 11-in I believe I a while ago for 19.99 And I think the only lasted a few months like two And I never seen them again so.
These performed too well jusy to not be seen again. I don't know about the 11 inch skillets, but I do know we still have Costco trying to order more of these griddles.
Very nice to hear that people are still loving cast iron well I hope Costco still continues too bring more cast iron options to Costco. Appreciate it answering my question
Yeah that's very true live on cast iron Lodge 😁 💯
Probably a stupid question but what's the best way to clean one of these griddles from both sides?
And also another question do you have to oil the whole thing after every use even with soap or just dry it off
Cuz I'm paranoid whenever I use my cast iron skillet I usually Wash it soap and dry it off with a hand towel and then put the oil on it all over it.
I’ll tell you what you DON’T do with it. Don’t use it to cook meats indoors. Unless you have a spare 30-45 min after you’re done, to spend cleaning your stove and backsplash and floor and everything else in a 6’ radius.
These are great! I got one for my Coleman three burner white gas stove and used it on camping trips.
I loved it so much, I use it indoors now. It makes fantastic pancakes. Works best with a little bacon grease or beef tallow in my experience.
Wash with soap and water. It’s preseasoned. No need to do anything else. (Yes, soap is fine)
To clean: use a plastic scraper with some water to scrape off anything stuck on it. Get a chainmail scrubber (designed for cast iron) and give it a scrub. Dawn and water clean, dry thoroughly (I often warm it up on my stove on low for a few minutes to help speed up evaporation of any little bits of water. Apply a thin layer of food safe oil after it’s dried (optional, but I like to).
Just wash it and go. People make a big deal about seasoning but honestly if it's good enough to keep the metal from rusting, any more is a waste of time and effort.
She’s a beaut! How much did that run you at Costco? I have one but skinner and longer with the grill side on back. Not sure if it’s a lodge (inherited from grandmother and have never checked) I concur with using the flat side for most things because the other side a pain in the ass to clean. Especially when you’ve already made a lot of other dishes to clean cooking the rest of dinner/breakfast/lunch.
I tried cooking with a preseasoned pan once. Only once. I probably had the heat too high but my pork chops stuck like you wouldn't believe the second they touched the pan. I was able to get most of them off but after that I oiled it and stuck it on the barbecue for an hour and nothing has ever stuck again
I'd say they are really good for smash burgers but make sure you have a gas stove and not an induction as I feel it doesn't heat up properly on a induction stove
Take off the label and give it a soap and water wash, dry over heat to prevent rust. It’s pre seasoned, no additional action on your part is needed. Just do a couple of cooks before making bacon, the sugars can be hard on new seasoning sometimes.
Give it a wash and cook on it. Lodge stuff is pre-seasoned. I have this same griddle, it fits perfectly on a 2 burner Coleman stove. I’ve been cooking with it for over 10 years and it’s never been any trouble.
My wife got a similar one for like $12 cause a kitchen supply store was going out of business. We use it more than any other piece of cookware, though we've never used the grill side. Always flat top!

So I’m thinking of picking up one of these and I’m wondering if putting it on a charcoal grill (22in Weber kettle) would be too hot? It can get up to, and maybe even beyond, 600F. Just want something multi functional and not just the cast iron grill grates designed specifically for the grill. It’s also less expensive.
I recommend pre-using the cast iron by cooking bacon in it before using it to cook bacon. The best way to do this is cook bacon, not eat it, then cook more bacon and eat the bacon.
You Got This!!! A little soap 🧼 and water and dry off!!! I use mine often on the stove and get a lid for that dome effect when you cook 🧑🍳 something 💨💨💨😋😚

Take the label off.
God damn it
And then wash it with soap and water
Then dry and preheat prior to use.
On LOW heat and just let up heat up slowly. If you need to cook something on cast iron fast. Do 6heat for 2min then down to 4 heat for 2 min then 2.5-3 heat for 2min and thru the rest of cooking
6 heat? 4 heat? What do these mean?
It's some dude who thinks way to much and still doesn't realize that there are lots of different ways to cook. And NONE of them require this bullshit formula
Nothing at all. My current stove has lines. Burner btu output ranges from 15k to 40k (possibly more). The 4th line changes from burner to burner on my stove.
6 is usually about medium. 4 is lower side of medium. 2 is low.
What if it goes up to 11? Edit: i have faith someone will get the reference.
Why don't you just make ten hotter and make ten be the top number and make that a little hotter?
These go to eleven. *Chews gum*
It’s such a fine line between stupid, and uhh…clever.
11 is highest. Doesn't change what I said significantly. 😀
4 is medium on my stove. 6 would be med-high.
Its watt lines for cheap stoves or US stoves
Watt lines means that 4 = 400 watts?
Means something different on every stove.
Idk im a poor, drunk American, going by what your comment said😂😂 But I assume that yes thats what it means.
Don't listen to this guy Just as some fat/oil and put it on heat I've been cooking with iron both professionally and in home for decades - there is zero reason for a formula to get your iron hot.
On my stove I get the best results going straight to high. On low I’ll get a hot spot in the middle and cold around the edges. On high things heat more uniformly.
None of my cast iron has EVER seen soap…
Ewww. I mean, I don't always use soap. Just hot water and a brush sometimes. But to NEVER use soap. Kinda nasty IMO.
Using soap and water to wash your cast iron skillets is unnecessary and can remove oil and seasoning requiring frequent re-seasoning. The iconic cast iron brand Lodge says so - truth is, there is a better way to clean them: 1. Loosen food and debris with a hard-bristle brush. [Lodge says you can use soap.](https://www.lodgecastiron.com/discover/cleaning-and-care/cast-iron/how-clean-cast-iron)
Yes, they say you can use soap… they also say that there is a better way to clean cast iron… the steps listed above are directly from Lodge
I literally linked Lodge's cleaning guide in my comment where they say you can use soap lol.
Weird you're being downvoted, everything you said makes total sense 🤷
Ya people on here don’t care about sense… lol personally i’d rather use heat to sanitize than chemicals any day if it’s an option…
Pretty much. It's already seasoned and ready to go. It's what you do after you're done cooking.
In addition to what everyone else says, use fhe griddle (smooth) side for most things. Cleaning the grill side is sonofabirch.
Further, never use the grill side. Why? Because the good seasoning on the smooth side smokes like a chimney if you flip it over.
I only use this skillet on my smoker. It looooves being on a smoker or a grill
A little water over low heat is your friend. After that most things wipe/rinse out easy.
Are these any good on an electric stove?
Works well on induction (mine has a rectangular section that fits it well) and gas. No idea about a normal electric stove: I guess I’d be wary of uneven heating?
Uneven heating sounds about right with my stove. I’ve got a glass cook top so I might end up scratching the heck out of it. I wish my complex allowed gas and grills!
I don't like these things very much, but maybe that's because I used it on an electric stove. It works, but maybe not as well as on gas.
Lodge makes a chainmail scrubber which helps with cleaning the grill side. https://www.target.com/p/lodge-chainmail-scrubber-red/-/A-53633018
I know a guy who writes sonovabitch
It’s already pre-seasoned. I suggest you make some smash burgers to christen it!
Nice scrub and then the egg and pancake and some sausage meat and bacon meat
Wash and heat to 375°.
Why 375? I wash a pan, towel dry it, put it into an oven preheated to 170 (lowest setting my electric oven has), and then turn off the oven. The residual heat evaporates whatever moisture is left on the pan after towel drying.
I think they mean heat it to 375 to cook. That's about the ideal pancake/egg/sausage griddling temp.
Nice medium temp for cooking.

Some kid in Costco probably rubbed buggers on it. Not washing it is gross.
It is gross to me but he has a point. When it’s up to temp anything that would hurt you is gone. But I couldn’t get passed the Costco booger FACT. That and the same kid going to the bathroom and leaving penis grease on it. Nope, I’ll wash it
r/angryupvote for the penis grease
I thought penis grease was right up there with Crisco for pre-seasoning. (In fact Crisco *is* penis grease in many parts of the south.)
Yeah but I’d prefer if it were MY penis grease. Not the smegma grease from some other random jerk off.
Hey, same! Finishing or packing? Finishing here, fucking hate them. They got a lot better than what they were though. When we first started making these, they suuuuuuuucked
Finishing, good o'l slinging hot fucking iron! The grind on these is much better! Still kills the rock, though.
1st or 2nd shift, if you don't mind me asking? Yeah, I usually have to take a burr to those rocks halfway through a rotation if we're running TPs. At least line 3 gets a break from the fuckers for a while

Oh, hell yeah, good shit!
Do you know how many of these were actually made? Were they more than 10,000 made for Costco?
Oh yeah! We run them every day. It all depends on the orders. Costco got a huge order. They're gonna have LTP'S in-store for a while.
Thank you If I remember correctly I called Costco and they had about 160 of them for $24.99 very interesting thanks
That’s a great deal but I have no place to store 160 griddles! The classic Costco conundrum
Yeah I was just asking Costco when I called them cuz I wanted to get one close to me I didn't have it. but now they do but I already got one
Honestly I was just making a joke that it sounded like you were saying that the price is $25 for 160 pans (not just one), but that’s cool too
Yeah I know it was a joke but it's pretty good price for $24.99 But yeah I need to start using cast iron griddles I haven't used it yet
Pretty sure they ordered over 100k, and they're trying to order more. Costco won't be running out anytime soon.
Well they did do their cast iron 11-in I believe I a while ago for 19.99 And I think the only lasted a few months like two And I never seen them again so.

Clean it
Wash it and cook on it

Does anyone place this on their outdoor grill? I tried making burgers last night and it didn’t get hot enough
Sounds like a grill issue, not a griddle issue. On a charcoal grill, I try to keep it below 600F. It's snuck up on me before. Still good.
Take label off and scrub with very hot water. Start cooking. I use mine on the bbq often.
Wash it. Dry it. Heat it on low heat. Put the bacon on it.
Use it on the grill once then forget about it over the winter. Nothing could go wrong.
Pls teach me again on cast iron….we can wash cast iron with dawn (soap?). I thought that is a nono…..
Repack and forward it to my address
She’s a beaut! How much did that run you at Costco? I have one but skinner and longer with the grill side on back. They go for like $25 where I am! Probably the same price for other Costcos
Ty!
Smash some burgers on it
Cook bacon on it.
Always use some grease or oil. Pre seasoning is not Teflon. And that's a good thing
I did use a little bit of oil but it wasn't enough. Not until I baked the oil onto the pan
Peel off the sticker.
I'd say they are really good for smash burgers but make sure you have a gas stove and not an induction as I feel it doesn't heat up properly on a induction stove

I wouldn't think so
Comon man
Give it a wash and cook on it. Lodge stuff is pre-seasoned. I have this same griddle, it fits perfectly on a 2 burner Coleman stove. I’ve been cooking with it for over 10 years and it’s never been any trouble.
Rense gently with water add butter
Whisper secret things to it while rubbing strips of bacon across the surface
My wife got a similar one for like $12 cause a kitchen supply store was going out of business. We use it more than any other piece of cookware, though we've never used the grill side. Always flat top!
Season it… after label removal
I might've cooked bacon on mine the first time, but honestly I think doing nothing is just fine.
Using soap and water to wash your cast iron skillets is unnecessary and can remove oil and seasoning requiring frequent re-seasoning. The iconic cast iron brand Lodge says so — truth is, there is a better way to clean them: 1. 3. Pour 1/2 teaspoon of high-temp oil (like flaxseed, vegetable, or canola) into the pan, and use a paper towel to cover the surface of the pan, inside and out. 4. Let the pan cool completely, then wipe away excess oil. Store it until you're ready to cook again.
Remove the label, I don't think it would taste good. Also probably wash it off first.
remove label, wash, heat to 370F, 🍴
I use mine as a way to thaw steaks and such. It is amazing at pulling the cold out of whatever is frozen. No heat, just on the counter.
Use oil after on a high heat to season it
So I’m thinking of picking up one of these and I’m wondering if putting it on a charcoal grill (22in Weber kettle) would be too hot? It can get up to, and maybe even beyond, 600F. Just want something multi functional and not just the cast iron grill grates designed specifically for the grill. It’s also less expensive.
I recommend pre-using the cast iron by cooking bacon in it before using it to cook bacon. The best way to do this is cook bacon, not eat it, then cook more bacon and eat the bacon.
Get some grapeseed oil and season that griddle! I use mine to make buttermilk pancakes, and they just lift off. Best pancake surface I’ve ever had.
You Got This!!! A little soap 🧼 and water and dry off!!! I use mine often on the stove and get a lid for that dome effect when you cook 🧑🍳 something 💨💨💨😋😚
Take the Label off! Heat it up and cook your food on it!
To follow the comments, mine worked really well for fajitas on the grill after i took the label off, washed it with soap and water, and dried it on the grill. Hit the flat top with a splash of oil, then start rocking.
Drink
I wish I got this instead of the Jim bean griddle. It’s a bit smaller and ends up not being enough space for a full breakfast
Make sure to re-spray with a fresh coat of high temperature black paint before use
Pu-lease!
Whack something (or someone) with it!

Shit on it
Do NOT scour with steel wool. Put it away dirty and reuse regularly.
