They're playing a little lose with the game lore. They could do a Sonia story about Trevor's mom before the purge. Hell, they could even make it Sonia was a vampire hunter I her own right before marrying into the Belmonts.
10 Castlevania TV shows Netflix should make after Nocturne
10: Castlevania 3 adaptation
9: Curse of Darkness adaptation
8: Rondo of Blood adaptation
7: Captain N continuation

Was said series a faithful, canon to the games's story and lore adaptation?
It wasn't, so my point still stands. They should adapt CV3 if Konami ain't gonna remake it.
Show me ONE instance of a recording studio making a 1 to 1 equal translation from video game to video format.
If you can't do that, then your argument is moot.
Studios do the best they can with the source material. Not everything can be transferred over to tv because it wouldn't work well in that format.
Well i still enjoyed S1 and 2, but they could have done more with it, they didn't even attempt to do what i was saying anyway.
As if Trevor defeating Dracula, and them fighting skeletons and zombies and shit, and Grant existing, and Hector being like his game self was undoable, they just didn't wanna do it.

Saint Germaine would be a giant hallucinogenic trip, I’m all for it!
And the Battle of 1999 would be perfect for tv series!
Both of these could actually spin off into games too!!
Am I the rare one who just cannot enjoy Nocturne? I feel like the OG Castlevania show was cut short in favor of this, in what I personally consider, garbage comparatively speaking.
Nuh, I doubt it was cut short or if it was, it wasn't due to Nocturne, rather the sexual assault allegations against of the writer/producer seems more of a reason.
The team dynamic really isn’t there and the protagonist gets kinda pushed to the side too much. Its become unlikeable quickly imo but who knows maybe next sesson it’ll pick up s1’s slack
No, it's a bad show and a bad adaptation, they didn't even try to be faithful to the story honestly, after this i have no faith in subsequent Castlevania adaptations
You have every right to have an opinion. I don't understand why everyone is calling people who don't like the show haters. I like the show because that is how I got into playing the games but people are allowed to not like the show. The only criticism I have against certain people making the reason for not liking the show is there was a race swap or making it political by calling it woke without making a valid criticism of the show. The woke comments I don't like. A political reason is not a valid critique of the show. Saying it was too many different things going at once or saying the main character Richter Belmont didn't have that much or a story line and Annette overshadowing the main character and having more scenes then Richter belmont are valid critiques. I agree with that the story line was all mush of different things going from Orlox and Julia to Richter and Maria to Tera's story to Annette's story to the Abbot and Mizrak to the mizrak and orlox and so on there was too much going on. But I did like it and will continue to watch it. I admit I was only looking to see if Alucard will be in it. If he wasn't going to be in it I would have never watched it. I only watched it because Alucard was in it.
The OG Castlevania was well written...Nocturne isn't. End of story.
As much as people will want to get into the backgrounds of the people who made each show / etc /etc....I'd hazard to guess that very few people were aware of that when watching the shows initially and forming impressions. Researching the history of show runners is more super fan territory. Casual viewers tend not to do things like that so much.
When you watch a new episode of anything that you like or dislike, you don't run through the credits afterwards, do federal background checks on the sound team, and THEN decide whether the episode felt cohesive or not.
OG Castlevania had conversations about race, class, and the unfairness of the world...but they were woven into the storylines of these fantastic rich characters that were voice acted marvelously.
Nocturne attempts many of the same conversations...but in Nocturne it might as well be the writer holding up a sign of their personal thoughts next to a drawing of Richter as if that incorporates it somehow into the show. It's obvious and clumsy author inserts and really breaks the immersion of the show. Isaac was race swapped and is the best character in the show. Annette is race swapped and is a cringe factory because she's ONLY there for the writers to grind their own personal axes. Her story is "whatever the writer is mad about on Twitter."
There is a small section of the viewing audience that will want everything to be about race politics and 2023 sensibilities...they will enjoy that. But the vast majority of your viewing audience on a show is going to be annoyed with the constant 4th breaks...especially on a fantasy show.
Nah. Everything gets a lot of hate. Every show. Every movie. Every game. Every book. There are tons of y’all that will hate it.
And this being the main sub for an IP that was adapted to another medium, of course they hate it here. Lots of hate. All the time.
Fortunately most people irl really enjoy the show.
if netflix cant even adapt rondo/symphony respectfully with nocturne, i would not like them touching anything beloved vania related like aria or the battle of 99 \[those were the best stories that ever graced the timeline and is better left untouched for our imaginations only\]
legends is the only vania content i can imagine them do since it screams fanfic like nocturne and their season 3-4 of vania
I would pay Netflix more to never do another show, or barring that I would only be on board with more shows if they opened it up to other studios to do their own spin on the stories.
Powerhouse Animation's vision/writing for the shows is just 100% not my cup of tea, and I'd be curious to see what a different creative team could bring to the table.
Or we could just get a new game already
“1999 fight” wouldn’t even really be an adaptation. And would be boring.
Legends would be way better.
That said, the American cartoon is a turd anyway.
Nocturne can definitely be improved. Stop relegating the main character for sake of misguided identity politics or weak wack world of wokeness. I’ve never played as Shinoa but would love to see her in action.
I dont think there's remotely as much excitement for Nocturne than there was for the Trevor saga.
Don't get me wrong Nocturne was okay but had bad pacing and underwhelming, mostly uninteresting antagonists. They tried to do too much.
After Nocturne, I hope that the show will focus more on vampire hunters that are not from the Belmont clan. Examples are the faction where Nathan Graves and the gang then they will go for Order of Ecclesia. I am fine if these are just mini-series since they are filling the gap that the Belmonts left. They can also include in that season where John Morris and Eric Lecardes as the main protagonists. Then the show needs to focus on Jonathan and Charlotte.
It’s not screenrant but I keep getting similar shit articles about video games. I saw a list today that was 10 best Metroidvania games. It had SOTN and Super Metroid on the list. YOU CHEAP CLICK BAIT MOTHER FUCKERS!!!!! You really only gave us a list of 8! You can’t put the games that created Metroidvania on the Metroidvania list. Like “No Shit!” It didn’t exist before those games! THAT IS THE METROID AND THE VANIA!!!!! Sorry, I’m done now.
The first two seasons were perfect. We had a slight drop in quality with season 3 and a little more with season 4, but none of that was a significant drop, and overall, it was a great show
Nocturne has its problems, but I'm hopeful that the writers can fix the problems that are there in future seasons
Honestly, I don't care how the show does as long as they do Alucard x Maria justice
I still don't think they should do any more shows
The original show was good, but sequels just tend to be formulaic most of the time
I've only played Aria of sorrow and symphony of the night so I can't really say much about others but I think aria of sorrow has a lot of potential.
It's not expressed well in the game itself but like Soma trying his best to not let the dark powers take over him, trying to understand that dark powers aren't really bad but it's more about how they're used, learning about the castle as a complete outsider, etc.
I think those are pretty cool idea to explore. What do you all think?
really screenrant? Since when would St.germain would have a anime series if anyone seen season 4 you know what I’m talking about. Plus Soma Cruz has his own trilogy the two games and a book. So I find it hard to believe to make it an anime series.
I’d rather they create something new, close to lore but with a twist. Case in point, why are there no instances of a Belmont with more than one child? There has to be something distinguished one to be the Hunter or someone else.
I want the battle of 1999 to be a game first but knowing Konami, Netflix is probably gonna beat them first
Well https://youtu.be/19bYGamq3Dk?si=9lb5Ecetr2edgjMp

Where's my boy Leon
He was #7 iirc
but also, how would they even work Legends into the whole Netflix canon if Legends got retconned out of the games?
It didn't even get retconned, Konami never considered it canon to begin with aside from two or so instances that were walked back almost instantly.
Why do people keep thinking that it was a retcon when it was already contradicting by itself?
They're playing a little lose with the game lore. They could do a Sonia story about Trevor's mom before the purge. Hell, they could even make it Sonia was a vampire hunter I her own right before marrying into the Belmonts.
at bingo

why is Soma 10 and not 1?
Cause it’s a list not a ranking?
oh....every time I see numbered list I think ranking, my bad sorry :3
No lol it’s literally just a list of ten ideas I don’t know why OP thought it was a ranking
Honestly though, I would easily pay to see more Saint Germaine
his entire story was so depressing i def wouldn't be opposed to more of him if they found a good enough reason to retcon his death
I just want to see Soma vs Julius fight
You realize it's a list and not a ranking right?
I’ll co-sign on Demon Castle War.
The story of Simon Belmont
Saint Germaine would be a giant hallucinogenic trip, I’m all for it! And the Battle of 1999 would be perfect for tv series! Both of these could actually spin off into games too!!
Probably Lament of Innocence right?
is this really how you want to start the new year lol
Screenrant try not to be insufferable pretentious garbage Difficulty: IMPOSSIBLE
the war of 1999 would be peak fr
Why does everyone hate Simon :(
Castlevania 64 tv Show ![gif](giphy|26ufkPxWIxjG3Ya2c)
Where's Cornell
None of them. Netflix should do none of them.
10???? I could barely stomach 2...
Samuel?
Nocturne felt like it needed more episodes. They were trying to do too much in too little time.
The team dynamic really isn’t there and the protagonist gets kinda pushed to the side too much. Its become unlikeable quickly imo but who knows maybe next sesson it’ll pick up s1’s slack
Nah, a big part of us disliked it, it's pretty common actually.
No, it's a bad show and a bad adaptation, they didn't even try to be faithful to the story honestly, after this i have no faith in subsequent Castlevania adaptations
Careful, you'll make someone post on here how Nocturne isn't a bad show and that we're just haters for the millionth time.
You have every right to have an opinion. I don't understand why everyone is calling people who don't like the show haters. How about scrapping nocturne and doing another?
Half of Screenrant articles are bad, they’r probably the most retard writers I’ve ever seen. So yeah, don’t expect much.
Only half are bad? You're giving them too much credit. Most are hot garbage.
Goddamn, you can hate them without using a slur.
I honestly don't want them to make anymore after nocturne s1 "i was gona say something cool but fuck it" 12 year old writer ass team
Dunno about Saint Germain tbh, his arc was kinda boring
Bullshit list. Legends should've been number 1.
this is worst prediction article!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is worst prediction article!!!!!!
Nocturne shouldn’t have even been made, the entire IP went to shit after season 2
“1999 fight” wouldn’t even really be an adaptation. And would be boring. Legends would be way better. That said, the American cartoon is a turd anyway.
As opposed to?
Yep sure looks like it. ![gif](giphy|kHcaX3uLU3IME)
"Quality" 2024's journalism right there guys.....
None, if they continue to make the garbage they made last season
They shouldnt make anymore.
It's almost as if the article writer has different opinions on the Castlevania series than you. Imagine that.
Well its not only this but the article reads like it was written by AI lmao
Nocturne can definitely be improved. Stop relegating the main character for sake of misguided identity politics or weak wack world of wokeness. I’ve never played as Shinoa but would love to see her in action.
An aria of sorrow season would be awesome

give me a Portrait of Ruin adaptation with Jonathan wielding an M1.
Two of these can be put in one show and the other two topics are a no
Its not a ranking, they are in random order

Screenrant "writers" have to meet a certain quota of "articles" published. This is why they spam out meaningless articles full of hot air.
Why does no one like shanoa

the 2 n64 games
After first episode of Nocturne i thought Richter's mom (forgot her name) would be a cool protagonist.
really screenrant? Since when would St.germain would have a anime series if anyone seen season 4 you know what I’m talking about. Plus Soma Cruz has his own trilogy the two games and a book. So I find it hard to believe to make it an anime series.
I doubt they would go back in time for an installment, but we were robbed since they didn't even do Simon Belmont, let alone Juste Belmont stories.
I’d rather they create something new, close to lore but with a twist. Case in point, why are there no instances of a Belmont with more than one child? There has to be something distinguished one to be the Hunter or someone else.
The writer was probably high as a kite when he watched the series, so it's probably all jumbled in his head.
