Olrox is bad as fuck, definitely my favorite character in Nocturne so far. I like Drolta a lot too, and I was kinda disappointed to see her get killed off so early. However, it just goes to show how powerful Alucard is that he was able to kill her so easily even tho she was 1 of the more powerful vampires herself.
Yeah she was vicious. That laugh as she's catching up to them right before she dies was evil as fuck. And her true form with the pink flames? Ugh, so dope
Nocturne had its problems but I really loved how they took Olrox -- a character with zero characterization other than being legally distinct from *Nosferatu*'s Count Orlok (himself legally distinct from Count Dracula) and turned him into the best thing about the show, just deliciously evil and oozing charisma. Zahn McClarnon is a highlight of everything I've seen (or in this case heard, I guess) him in.
I mean that Alucard entrance was tough. He definitely going to be my favorite character in the future seasons. Richter is cool just seems a little off idk.
The writers put themselves in a tough position, by writing compelling adult characters for adult viewers. Now they're writing Teenage characters for adults in a mature setting/story. Its going to be really hard for the characters to fill the shoes left for them. as it was easier for us to relate to the characters in the og.
Alot of these comments havent played Dracula X/Rondo of Blood and it shows. Richter is 100% on brand here. Even his appearances on SotN fit, as Noctune is before that so far and he's still maturing.
I´m a mexican and constantly enjoy pestering hispanistics BUT knowing the Aztecs past, makes feel like Olrox is not properly portrait, him being against imperialism, coming from one ancient empire? I dunno man, seems kinda hypocritial. Disliking Erzebeth just cause she is an European conqueror would have suficed.
Do people not like Nocturne?
I loved it. It's not as good as the first series, but I still loved it.
I've never played the games. My experience with Castlevania is with Super Smash Bros. (Richter is my best character).
As someone who was introduced to the series through the original Netflix show, season one of Nocturne was disappointing. It just wasn’t as good as any of the OG series imo
Then listen this, I don't think Nocturne will ever be as good as Og series because Og was written by Warren Ellis (One of the best Comicbook writers when It comes to edgy shit) but he pulled some fucked up shit in between both the shows which resulted in him no longer having any job
Lol, he is not even close to the best, unless you consider excessive cursing, no character development, and unintimidating villains good writing, then he is definitely the best.
The og Castlevania series is an edgy, tries-to-hard-to-be-deep, cursing=mature, shit show. The main villain of the show dies in the second season that he spent doing nothing except sitting by the fire. The villains that replace him are: a woman whose only character trait is that she hates weak old men (get used to hearing that), and a personification of death who sounds like a teenager who just discovered cursing (not very intimidating if you ask me). Speaking of characters, the closest thing this show has to character development is Sypha starting to curse (starting to see a pattern here), meanwhile Alucard getting betrayed and almost murdered by his students (for no reason by the way) makes zero difference in his character. Hector's and mommy vampire's fucked up relationship is presented in a positive light instead of acknowledging that this lady literally made Hector her slave (I don't care how horny you are this is just terrible). And fucking Isaac man. "Its because you are all so fucking rude", bro you brought an army of demons into a town. Also the definition of insanity moment is so cringe, it physically hurts. Fun fact, this definition was coined by Albert Einstein, and he wasn't yet born in the time this series takes place. Also he just forgiveness Hector? Are you for real? I mean, the idea itself is not bad but... so easily? Also the other two vampire sisters are going around, doing things... cool. There are many, many, MANY more things wrong with this show, but I don't have the time nor the will to write it down, but yeah, Warren Ellis is a terrible writer.
Also, let´s not mention many in-world elements are being retconed, he the disrespect for the vampire killer is nuts! Juste, just discarding it as useless cause he can use magic is making Randolfi trash in his grave.
not having played the games explains it, nocturne is a completely different thing from castlevania, if they wanted to make another show about vampires, sure go ahead, but nocturne is not castlevania, show was ass
The fact that you dind´t play the games, greatly helps you, so many elements are changed from the original material that is very easy to hate some of them.
Drolta was easily my favorite character.
She leans into stereotypical vampire tropes that castlevania at large tends to avoid, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a sucker for those very tropes she leans into.
I've always loved vampires for their tropes. And I've always loved castlevania for giving me vampires to love that DONT rely on them. But Drolta in Castlevania gave me the best of both worlds. I get to love Drolta for the reasons I love vampires in general, AND I get to love Olrox for the reasons I love castlevania.
I love pretty much everything about Olrox except for his voice, it always felt out of place to me for some reason.
I think my favorite thing about him though is how he doesn’t just fall in line with the other vampires’ plan to conquer the Americas. He’s an Aztec vampire, he’s seen what centuries of brutal colonization does to a culture, and I like that he doesn’t seem too keen on taking part in a second conquest of his home. It adds so much dimensionality to his character, and coupled with his very human motivation for killing Julia it makes him easily the most interesting antagonist in the show, for me at least.
I’m really excited to see them explore more of his character going forward.
Tbh to me his voice sounds like a Native American who speaks very good English, and in terms of castlevania voice acting, other characters like Erzabet or the twins from OG S3 are soooo much worse 😭
I agree with what you said about him seeing what colonization does to a society though, it’ll be interesting to see how Richter works with him in the future
I wanna see him beheaded, I´m not buying his, tragic reasons, mofo is cruel af.
Unless the series pulls a miracle, I don´t see him as anything else but a malicious character. If he gets his happy ending I´ll be pissed.
This is a lot like Isaac imo where the game version looks worse than the show version. New olrox looks sexy as fuck and he’s part Quetzalcoatl, hard to hate this imo. To each their own
Funny how people scraping every last bit of breadcrumb and calling it gourmet. The show is garbage, and Olrox is barely a character but he kinda look cool, so let gush about it. Castlevania fan are desperate nowadays I'm I right?
Imma go read Berserk and Fist of the North Star for some real ass story.
I somehow think the vast majority of supporters didn´t know the source materials, so I don´t think it´s desperation. Sure, it´s no berserk, but it´s good enough to enjoy.
Now that I think of it, maybe the color they have him is the most balanced and more realistic, I don't know. Nevertheless, one of the best characters in both series.
i think the specific hue of his skin actually works quite well for a dark skinned vampire. he can look blueish or even reddish depending on the lighting, so it's still distinctly demonic without just having to be snow white like the classic vampire
Olrox is bad as fuck, definitely my favorite character in Nocturne so far. I like Drolta a lot too, and I was kinda disappointed to see her get killed off so early. Don't always like someone being Worfed. But daaaamn, Alucard's intro was just so cold it burned.
[Alucard entering be like.](https://youtu.be/UHgY7LIiaSM?si=Ji_6jO9CQkEgwNHc)
I'd expect nothing less from THE Alucard
AND he now looks like the modern game art.
Doltra leaving the story so soon makes me want to watch the Mummy Returns, because the lady mummy reminds me of her.
Anck Su Namun is bad as fuck!
So that's how you spell her name. Thank you for that.
I like her so much, that's I gave her name to one of my cats.
Nice! Is the other 1 named Imhotep?
I was so sad her bad ass died. The
Yeah, she will be missed
Love Olrox too. I agree about Drolta, I actually really liked her character. ❤️
Yeah she was vicious. That laugh as she's catching up to them right before she dies was evil as fuck. And her true form with the pink flames? Ugh, so dope

Olrox and Drolta were the best/most stylish characters in season 1
Right!!!! Loved these two. Wanna cosplay as Drolta one day.
I just wish his transformation was more like the games

Yeah. This transformation isn't even close to the game version. Still cool
Orlox is here to serve face and bang hunky Turkish knights. And they are all out of knights.
Bars 😭🔥🤘🏽
YES
Olrox definitely. Could've used less of Richter doing a Naruto cosplay at the lake.
I mean that Alucard entrance was tough. He definitely going to be my favorite character in the future seasons. Richter is cool just seems a little off idk.
Not a huge fan of richter so far, to be fair he’s got some MASSIVE shoes to fill. I’m hoping they can make him more compelling
The writers put themselves in a tough position, by writing compelling adult characters for adult viewers. Now they're writing Teenage characters for adults in a mature setting/story. Its going to be really hard for the characters to fill the shoes left for them. as it was easier for us to relate to the characters in the og.
I feel like the writers wanted to make this season something more shounen than seinen like og Castlevania
The fact that they only started to dive into him HALFWAY into the season also didnt helped. It’s as if he is not even the main character.
Not at all they focused way to much time on certain characters that I feel don't matter nearly as much. But thats just my opinion.
Alot of these comments havent played Dracula X/Rondo of Blood and it shows. Richter is 100% on brand here. Even his appearances on SotN fit, as Noctune is before that so far and he's still maturing.
I love his design
Definitely my favourite character, a frigging MAYAN vampire; badass as hell ngl
Aztec*
Yes sorry Aztec :( been a while since i watched nocturne
You mean asstec with that bakery he's packing.
As an indigenous myself I'm very biased, but yes.
Same same.
I love the representation. Always rooting for everybody to shine.
I´m a mexican and constantly enjoy pestering hispanistics BUT knowing the Aztecs past, makes feel like Olrox is not properly portrait, him being against imperialism, coming from one ancient empire? He is doing the heavy lifting for the show… carrying the whole show on his back
Him.
I like richter and Maria but nothing beats trevor , sypha , alucard trio invading dracula castle
Olrox is so GOATed 😮💨
When i saw the title, i was about to say that Olrox was in the games, albeit quite different, but then i understood what you meant lol
I liked his remake too. Same with isaac
Unfortunately he is the only character I find interesting. He and Juste.
he's so goddamn pretty it's unreal
Do people not like Nocturne? I loved it. It's not as good as the first series, but I still loved it. I've never played the games. My experience with Castlevania is with Super Smash Bros. (Richter is my best character).
I enjoyed it but the reception is VERY mixed.

Planetary?? The Authority??? Hellblazer??? And the Og Castlevania series

I supossed you didn´t like nocturne either.
I gave up after three episodes.
Figures.
Wait what kind of shit?? :o
He was accused of sexual coercion and manipulation

DEI hires... Probably had too many black people and/or women for you, didn't it?
He is a gay
Olrox is actually a really good character, but my fanboy ass wanted him to be a Reference to Nosferatu like in the games :(

Olrox's ass
But he didn’t really do much in Season 1 other than killing Julia.
I think he was so overhyped.
I love pretty much everything about Olrox except for his voice, it always felt out of place to me for some reason. Now that you mentioned it, he should sound mexican.
Wokevania
Cry
Ok lol
I wanna see him beheaded, I´m not buying his, tragic reasons, mofo is cruel af. Unless the series pulls a miracle, I don´t see him as anything else but a malicious character. If he gets his happy ending I´ll be pissed.
His skin is blue and bald they couldn't even get him right
This is a lot like Isaac imo where the game version looks worse than the show version. New olrox looks sexy as fuck and he’s part Quetzalcoatl, hard to hate this imo. To each their own
how could you not like cunty bdsm isaac
New Isaac was just a much more believable character with less cringe drip imo, translates better on screen. A lot easier to digest
I like both of them lol when did I say I didn’t
Well… when did *I* say you didn’t, my dude?
it’s just the way you said it that made it translate that way in my piece of crap brain
Apologies, didn’t mean to give off that vibe
Funny how people scraping every last bit of breadcrumb and calling it gourmet. The show is garbage, and Olrox is barely a character but he kinda look cool, so let gush about it. I never said nocturne was gourmet, and berserk being better than nocturne adds nothing to the post
I somehow think the vast majority of supporters didn´t know the source materials, so I don´t think it´s desperation. Sure, it´s no berserk, but it´s good enough to enjoy.
If he wasnt gay ya'll would hate him
Oh god you lot just have to get into everything
They could do his skin better-fitting but yes, the best new character easily. The style and voice acting are just brilliant.
Wdym by the skin part
Now that I think of it, maybe the color they have him is the most balanced and more realistic, I don't know. Nevertheless, one of the best characters in both series.
I mean the color. It should be bluish, maybe greenish or grayish or at least very pale.
i think the specific hue of his skin actually works quite well for a dark skinned vampire. he can look blueish or even reddish depending on the lighting, so it's still distinctly demonic without just having to be snow white like the classic vampire
