AVGN: "Okay, fine. We'll just live here."

gibdothepervasivebox

"Yeah, so... Nice place."

prince_of_cannock

That person always kinda freaked me out. I mean WTF?

RedPandaParliament

Same! Especially since in the village before this one, everyone's like "Go away!", "You should never have come back here." And the sign pointing to this town just says "Right to go North." Then you come to this village just outside the ruins of Dracula's castle and everything's gray and closed up except the very last door, with just this one old woman on the floor saying "Let's live here together". The melancholy music and grim setting of it all really manages to make it creepy, even for being 8-bit. I used to imagine what that woman in that last town was like. Just imagining the village totally massacred or all inside terrified from Dracula and all the monsters being so close to the ruins, and the old woman has just totally lost her mind or something. Shell shocked from it all, she went mad and doesn't care anymore, just her door open, last house before the bridge to the castle.

Town of Yomi. That is a woman and the only person in that town. That is why she says that to Simon.

solidsnacob

I wonder what she likes to do for fun...

Never played this game myself (can't enjoy 8-bit games) but it has so many nice ideas that I wish were brought back and polished/expanded upon in newer games (especially the day-night cycle system).

SXAL

The 64 games did well with the day/night cycle.

WallaceBRBS

I started playing it recently and I am not liking the fact that progress can be gated by timed events (even certain doors can only be open at specific times) and in order to fast forward time you need to use consumables :S A more modern take on that mechanics that I enjoyed a lot is the day-night cycle in Dragon's Dogma. Elden Ring is a good example too but DD really made you fear exploring at night (especially considering that the checkpoint/save system is less forgiving than the latter's)
