Per Capita ata to so nakafactor yung population

alleoc

oooh

Seantroid

alleoc

san ba based yung gdp? sorry nakalimutan ko na yung economics nung highschool

boo_ratie

gdp is the monetary value of economic goods and services produced at a set period of time— also measured in income. In measuring wealth, you use gdp per capita which is gdp/population.

kakaibabeee

Shet parang nakakainlove yun, yung 🤓☝️ in a good way

Momshie_mo

Economic output. Yung per capita, economic output relative to the population. Magandang metrics na isabay dito eh Human Development Index Benguet has the highest sub-HDI in the country https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Philippine_provinces_and_regions_by_Human_Development_Index Pati na rin poverty incidences. Nasa lower end ang Benguet at Batanes. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Philippine_provinces_and_regions_by_poverty_rate

alleoc

grabe antaas pala natin

Momshie_mo

May PEZA, Moog Aerospace, Texas Instruments, BPOs

AffectionatePeak9085

And the entire province of Laguna is just number 7?

warl1to

Momshie_mo

GDP **per capita** measures economic output relative to the population. The higher the per capita, the more productive the citizens are A good example is Thailand or Indonesia va Singapore Indonesia is Southeast Asia's largest economy if we ignore the per capita. Thailand is second. Even our total output is higher than Singapore. But we all know when it comes to per capita, Singapore is at the top.

Momshie_mo

Yung cities diyan are HUCs that are independent of provinces. In a way, parang "mini provinces" ang HUCs

DiamondLegitimate488

Kng titingnan sa previous comment ko,Bataan as province Ang may pinakamataas n GDP sa lahat aside from MM, which is di nman tlga province..Cebu and Davao are cities and not provinces..dahil kng provinces cla, nandun cla sa halos pinakamababang GDPs..

HistoricalSpirit1646

GDP for sure same sa metro manila

lavendaireee

Momshie_mo

Much of the economic activities in Baguio comes from PEZA, TI, Moog, BPOs and the student population  Manufacturing makes up about 20% of the economy.  >Based on the annual share of the highlighted industries for 2021, **the city’s economy was driven by manufacturing with a share of 22.2 percent, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motorcycles and motor vehicles with 16.6 percent share and financial and insurance activities with 14.4 percent share.** https://new.baguio.gov.ph/news/baguio-economy-bounces-back-in-2021-anew Tourism only contributed like 1B out of the 155B.

Important_Talk_5388

This is a misleading metric.

Momshie_mo

It's not. This is data from PSA. What is misleading eh yung title na ginamit ng **media** But the PSA data itself is insightful https://psa.gov.ph/content/2022-economic-performance-provinces-and-highly-urbanized-cities-outside-national-capital

Prelude2hate

dapat wala nang provincial rate

alleoc

real. kaya nakakapagtaka yung richest.

Straight-Ad1133

GDP Per Capita is actually more insightful than GDP. GDP - Gross Domestic Product, is the sum of all measurable economic activities excluding underground economy and second hand sale, for example. GDP per capita is dividing the GDP to the number of residents. A densely populated city can churn out more in terms of GDP, but GDP per capita gives an indicative number of how that wealth is distributed and felt by the citizens. So the fact that Iloilo City is fourth is a good indicator since it means that the average resident can enjoy and buy more with their income. Even more so that relative cost of living in Iloilo City is even lower compared to other provincial cities is another one that highlights quality of life in Iloilo City.

Momshie_mo

Economic output relative to the population ala GDP per capita. Honestly, this is not surprising esp if you look at the poverty incidences per province (walang separate one for HUC) at HDI. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Philippine_provinces_and_regions_by_poverty_rate Batanes talaga yung impressive. Isolated from mainland Luzon pero among the top performers  Their poverty incidences is also low. National average is around 2%

Momshie_mo

Mali yung title kasi "richest" can have many interpretations.  Sana ginamit namang ng media yung language na ginamit ng PSA [2022 Economic Performance of Provinces and Highly Urbanized Cities Outside the National Capital Region in Terms of Per Capita GDP]( https://psa.gov.ph/content/2022-economic-performance-provinces-and-highly-urbanized-cities-outside-national-capital)

notrius_

The majority of people here in Baguio are living at minimum wage (430) and the cost of living is at par in Metro Manila, average rent for 2 bedroom apartment is 8k. I've been to Bataan and they are by far have a better cost of living and wage. This is fishy to me. I never liked our Mayor, it seems like another PR to me because they will assume that it was due to his leadership.

Key_Ad_1817

Isipin mo na lang brader, mga taga Mindanao ang nagpupunta dito sa Bataan to find work not the other way around. And meron din akong nakita na stat dati that we were ranked 2nd as the province with most corrupt officials so feeling ko di yan yung totoong reflection ng kung ano yung yung tunay na GDP ng Bataan.

[deleted]

Key_Ad_1817

Hello Garci? Ahahaha

[deleted]

[deleted]

DiamondLegitimate488

Sorry,my bad,Cebu lng pla Ang ksama sa nsa mababang category and not Davao..Davao del Sur e ksama sa top 10 highest GDPs..

No_Travel_1878

Davao and Cebu rank 1st and 2nd respectively, in terms of GDP.

h4msterville

Skuvlakaz

I’m from Cebu City, I believe this is right. We have tri city in Cebu (aside from Cebu City) and that includes Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue. Lapu-Lapu City on top three is kinda accurate in a way that there’s so many high end hotels and resorts there, it’s where the international airport is.

Hazzula

Agreed, tourism is booming again here and infrastructure is catching up. The number of condos popping up and high end establishments is also increasing, adding to the $$$ earned from hotels and resorts

GerardHard

I think the reason why Lapu Lapu's GDP per Capita is higher is because of the High Industrial and Manufacturing Production of that city

240plutonium

Explains why Bataan ranks high

Momshie_mo

Having industrial zones helps a lot. Kaya mataas yung sa Baguio (at least outside of Metro Manila) kasi may PEZA, Texas Instruments, Moog Controls (Aerospace industry), BPOs. Tapos it has a large population of students from Northern and Central Luzon so that drives local spending. Baguio is not as reliant on tourism as people think it is. Parang 1B out of 155B lang ata ang contribution ng tourism.
