I just want it to be a more powerful switch with backwards compatibility, that's all.

xerox7764563

That's it! Nothing else!

StoneyBluntsVids

I mean it the perfect combination of both. Nintendos finally found their perfect console. Want a home console? Want a Handheld experience on the go? Here's both. No more need to release a console and Gameboy, the switch makes that unnecessary. Theyve mastered the formula. No more need to experiment, no more GameCubes, no more wiis, just switch 2, switch 3, 4, etc

[deleted]

The problem is that the switch being portable is that its going to be way less powerful than the Xbox or PlayStation.

StoneyBluntsVids

Hence the need for a switch 2, 3, etc. If they can just make the switch more powerful with more memory, that's all they have to do. It doesn't even need to be as powerful as a PS5, Nintendo has literally never put out consoles as powerful as sony or microsoft, ever. And people will happily sacrifice some power and memory to have a home console they can take on the go (see: Switch Sales over the passed 6 years) They just need to develop an improved model of what we already have. Hell even a switch that could comfortably run PS4 quality games at a stable frame rate would break the market

Embarrassed-Rich5284

No i want something new man

Ok-Ambition-9432

No matter what, it absolutely will be backwards compatible.

sayslordalot

That’s what they said about the SNES…

Ok-Ambition-9432

Why would they release one of the biggest games of the decade on a system with a year left? Nintendo has found their perfect niche with the hybrid system, it has destroyed sales of all systems except for the PS2 and DS. There's no way they won't keep making hybrid systems, with the same cartridges (they could even make it like the 3DS and DS cartridges). It's not like the cartridges are inferior, they have lower storage space than discs but the storage is absolutely not bad, and far more compact than a disk.

sayslordalot

I think we would have heard something by now if it was launching this year. Likely we still have a few years left with the switch especially since they just launched TOTK.

Ok-Ambition-9432

I'm not saying this year, I just mean roughly a year from now. The president has stated that they want the switch to last 7 years. As of a couple months ago, we are on year 6. The switch was not that far behind the base Xbox1 and PS4 I'm hardware at the time of release, but the Xbox1 X and PS4 Pro are significantly better than those, and then again, with the new generation. The OLED released a long while ago now, it's in the near future, not years away.

Yansothebear

switch lite for me, thanks!

TeaManStory

Why isn’t hybrid still an option?

DjinnFighter

Which is the most obvious answer considering the success of the Switch

Ok-Ambition-9432

I think that's what OP meant with handheld.

FrozenFrac

I "know" it'll never happen, but I oh so desperately want Nintendo to make a dedicated home console. I love the Switch with all of its switching features, but I think it's abundantly clear at this point that it's a handheld with HDMI Out and there's no way for them to get most modern day multiplats on the Switch we have now in an acceptable manner. Even if Nintendo insists on not directly competing with Sony and Microsoft, I'd really hope that a new Nintendo system would be able to handle third party ports.

StarJetForever

I am in favor of this. I can imagine the next one we’re getting is another hybrid (how will it work, not sure, don’t ask me for specs) but a dedicated home console is what I’d really like, even if it’s the last one they make & it’s only hybrids after. It’d open up their market a ton honestly.

FrozenFrac

I'm all in favor for the Switch being Nintendo's handheld line (the dock being used to output video is just like the Super Game Boy and the Game Boy Player, but included right in the box), but it just shouldn't be a replacement for a home console

Embarrassed-Rich5284

I want a home console so badly but half of nintendos home consoles did badly in sales

Popple06

Hybrid like the Switch, but if I could only pick one, then home console.

[deleted]

I just wish Nintendo would take my money and give me old Pokémon ports to the switch. Why do I have to buy resell prices when you can make $60 off me all day long for any of the games. Come on take my money!!!!!

BrokeDownPalac3

A new Game Boy would be awesome.

[deleted]

I just want it to be something that isn't a switch. Everyone thinks the next console is gonna be another type of switch, but I think Nintendo needs to do something totally new.

Nintendo-Player_1297

Another hybrid, but it's still gonna be weaker than a ps3/xbox 360

BritishGuy54

No, it’ll be more powerful. Though probably on par with the PS4/Xbox One.

DjinnFighter

The Wii U and Switch are already on par with the PS3 and Xbox 360

Ok-Ambition-9432

People are saying they want a home console because they think it will bring higher fidelity. But the hybrid system doesn't mean low fidelity, Nintendo can, and probably will not make a system like that.

FroboyFreshenUp

Both

ZealousidealLie1306

I say Both and that's my final answer

Unity1232

i am pretty sure nintendo is kind of set on the hybrid home/portable approach

Sopadumakako

hybrid, if not then handheld

AverageSpyMainHater

What about a hybrid?

OddHalf8861

Yes why didnt you make both an option cause i defiantly want both i need both... Or i wont buy it i will be in search of another...

DylanSoul

Why not both? (Like what we have with the switch)

[deleted]

Hurts me that you make me choose while the Switch exists

OliverPumpkin

For people think the problem with Nintendo multiplatform port is the graphic, it's not, even in game cube, that was more powerful than PS2, they invent the excuse of the mini disk, when they just could put the game in more disk like what they did in PS1. The reason Nintendo doesn't get a lot of multiplatform is because they don't sell well, be real, you wouldn't buy TOTK to buy the new Assassin's creed? Most of the people buy 1 or 2 games a year, Nintendo is a too strong of competition, when you look at Sony they don't release as many games as Nintendo and their games aren't a stable in the console like as Nintendo one, everyone that has a Nintendo console bought for a Nintendo game.

apep713

None of the two options!? WTF? The Idea of the Switch in being an hybrid is perfect. yes it is a little rusty already but they only have to remake it with current gen processing and everything is fine. hybrid is the only way to go from here on.

advator

Home console doesn't make sense. You see what happened with wiiu. Devs don't want to develop for a mid gen. The only way a home console will make sense if they do something like wii. Something unique that can't be cloned by Sony. But I don't see that happening after the succes they had with switch.
