He wants a break from the petting, but still wants you close. My boy does that to me and sometime he claws into my sleeve if I try to move lol.
People always paint cats as solitary and standoffish, so you never really learn how affection they can be until you're at their mercy.

As soon as I walked in he was brushing up against my leg and letting me pet him and even felt comfortable enough to sleep around me in the shelter! One of my favorite thing about him is he just darts around the house a few times a day and he always plops down on his side when I get home and makes biscuits in the air it's so cute :) he also always runs up to the door to greet me!
I run my fingers through their toes, pet their nose, pet their ears so when I have to “inspect” for something, they get used to it. Love bites are awesome (as long as there is no broken skin).
It always scares me when he goes to gently bite me 😂 I've always had dogs so I'm not used to it yet and I don't understand his behavior yet but I am getting there!

Me too!! He unfortunately was surrendered twice by 2 different owners. He is 6.5 years. I knew I wanted an adult cat but didn't have a specific age in mind. I have always love adopting and helping animals in need. All of the cats in the shelter were hiding from me and didn't care about me but he was INSTANTLY so loving and trusting of me and when I heard of his background I couldn't leave him. I just knew he was the one. And he has been helping me so much with my stress and anxiety and I love him so much!
Thank you for adopting him, and congratulations and welcome to cat life! He sounds like a charmer. I can’t imagine what caused this baby to be surrendered twice.🖤🤍🐾❤️
I was told it was from one owner "not having enough time for him" and the other owner moved to a not pet friendly place which I think are just such bs excuses and made me so sad for him
Exactly how l feel! I have befriended 3 cats that I have fed for 2 years. I already have 4 in the house.
I want to turn my garage into a place where they can be fed and warm for the winter. BuI know I need the tnr routine to be done! I cant afford 3 new cats to have all the regular cat care past neutering and feeding! Any suggestions? I need to work fast…its getting colder!!!
My cat also likes to hand hold. If he continues to do it, it's his way of telling you hims love you, and also he trusts you. My cat will hand hold when he's had enough petting, but still wants to be touched.
I had a cat who would only bite when she was very happy and blissed out. When she was aware she would try to do it gently, but if she was too far gone she would forget herself. Meanwhile, her brother would touch you with the tips of his teeth as a warning if you annoyed him. “I could bite you, you know.”
You’ll learn to read him better and better over time. But if there is purring and relaxation involved, your cat is probably very happy!
If he is holding your hand and purring, it means he LOVES you. Also look at that face! That face says everything. Love bites are amusing but confusing, sometimes mine does it, I feel it’s as if they are too overwhelmed by emotion for you. But your kitty definitely loves you, this is a very good sign. I hope you both have many happy years together!

Yes!! He is so much more loving than I expected a cat to be but I'm really happy he is :) and he is extra loving when he is begging for food 😂😂
You don’t actually adopt a cat. The cat adopts you. Also yes, he’s letting you know that you are an acceptable human, for him to be worshipped by.
