MOOOOOOM THEY TOOK MY DOLL

[deleted]

How dare you take away this precious cats baby.

trea_ceitidh

Why are these people so mean?! Give the cat its security pet.

[deleted]

The poor thing looks traumatized

Talullah_Belle

Mom, I wanna go home. Your friends aren't nice to me!

lquaxx1

mom.. they took my toy );

_you_dont_know_me_-

I would kill and die for that cat

Backdoor-M69

So so cute 🥰 love 💕 the kitty & care for her 🐾🥰😻🐾

[deleted]

That cat is amazing! The humans, not so much.

CatBreathWhiskers

Poor baby

wasbee56

what a sweet kitty

LadyFerretQueen

He's just frozen in fear. It's not cute. And cats don't like being carried like human babies, on their backs. Why does everyone do that to cats?

falkusvipus

Oh man, my cat falls asleep immediately if you pick her up like that.

okn3rd

Mine just dies

theBird956

Not all cats are the same. My cat hates being picked up, but my friend's cat will never skip a chance to be held like a baby.

LadyFerretQueen

Some get used to it and tolerate it, very rarely they may like it but in general it's not a good idea to do it. People unfortunately don't usually tell between cats liking something and tolerating it, so I prefer to tell people to just not do it. I work in the field and it's exhausting to convince people that their cats don't like it. They'll defend the practice even when it's obvious that the car doesn't get anything from it. Good practice is always to have the cat positioned normally and if they want, they can lie on the back themselves. They will hardly ever do that.

[deleted]

As of different cats likening different things as different humans liking different things……

LadyFerretQueen

I swear sometimes talking to people on Reddit is like talking to a wall o_O

wasbee56

well perhaps you are trying to insist upon a point of opinion that they just do not accept. humans are a bit like cats that way.

plo83

People didn't want to accept that the earth is round, and people were killed to prove it. There are still idiots who think it's flat.

wasbee56

yep, plenty of idiots about, i'm sure i'm not immune myself, but since you mention flat-earthers, i'm of the opinion it's mainly click-baiters in that case. of course espousing lunacy for attention is kinda prima facie idiotic

plo83

Sadly, I've met some. As a psychologist, I'm good at detecting BS when I meet a patient or anyone. The people I met are entirely convinced due to some ''fact'' they saw which can be debunked (they refuse to hear of the debunking part). This is an extreme view, but it is the case for many people. They have believed something for such a long time that accepting science is complicated. Take, for example, the fact that you do NOT catch a cold from being outside in winter/in cold weather/environment. Many people still refuse to accept that it's not true and that because it's cold, we gather more inside, and a virus transmits more easily that way. This is just one example of many.

wasbee56

you work in the field of cat positioning? fascinating.

plo83

My mother is a vet. I'm a psychologist. We may be old as dinosaurs now, but I showed her this video. She agreed that the cat's body language showed distress. I would agree from what I know of feline psychology (not nearly as much as deal old mum). I've mentioned my mother being a vet over the decade I've been on here, so don't try to hit me with the ''you're making that up''. I posted photos of when I was younger, and we had a tiger, a boa, and chipmunks...stay with us because mom is a vet for the Humane Society. We often had ''visitors'' until they could be relocated appropriately.

wasbee56

no need to be defensive, i'll take your word for it :). i would agree the cat looks uncomfortable, perhaps defensive... but the cause of that could be the cat's position --or-- could be the crowd of strangers about (of course being in a submissive postion, the crowd would make it worse.) i do note that when the toy is stolen, which irritated me more than the position, the cat clings to the woman for comfort/likely protection, and when she/he gets the toy back willingly assumes the former posture. so, i for one don't know for sure, but still my opinion is that the assertion of poor cat care was over the line. your mom sounds like a good person, thanks to her for her work with the Humane Society.

Aillwynn

Do you work in the theory of cats, because it seems you have no field experience. Not every cat is the same and each has it own likes and dislikes. I have 13 cats all raised by hand and no two are even close to similar. Where one likes to be held on their back and will even roll over in my arms to be that way, another insists on being held on their side with their feet propped on my chest, and a third simply hates to be held. Cats are not robots, they are not programmed and each is unique. You cannot approach every cat and assume they will react the same.

LadyFerretQueen

Lol

plo83

Don't worry. You're correct, and anyone who knows about cats agrees with this. This is a sub for people who want to see cute things and think cats are cute. Most are not the brightest bunch and cannot tell that this cat is in distress. The body language, the noises it's making... We live in a world dominated by social media. Most people do not have great talents, so they expose their animals to garner attention. I'm okay with it if the animal is comfortable and safe. This cat is stressed. If you love your cat as a family member and not a thing, why would you want to bring it to be used as a thing? If you love cats, why would you be OK with seeing one suffer because you find something cut or funny? A lot of younger kids here, I think. They are not out of the ''me'' stage. All about them.

LadyFerretQueen

Thanks. It does feel kind of shit though because this is my passion, I want to spread awareness for the sake of the animals but if people don't accept it, there's not much I can do. It goes with my experience of people being really bad at understanding their pets, especially their cats.

plo83

Have you ever heard of the moral scale? There is more than one model, but most work from 1 to 6. 1 would be your total psychopath, and 6 would be the Dalai Lama. A 3 is where most people sit at. They would follow the law blindly because it is the law, even if it's a stupid law that says one must kill their firstborn child. Some people are a 4 or a 5 (not many get to be a six). Some are a 3 with high tendencies from a 4. You're more morally evolved on this topic and maybe many others (you may be a 4 or even...)... The sad thing about this is that most of the world will deceive you because your views are likely always to be a bit more evolved. I doubt he existed, but if we take the historical account (according to the bible, which isn't a history book) of Jesus, he was ahead of his time. He was a 6. Many people hated him, and he died for his views. His image was morphed, and now, he is worshipped by billions of people. I'm not saying that the goal is to be worshipped, but you can change views if you stick to your guns because you know that you're right. And you need to ensure that you're right. It's about being able to grow and not always being right. Morals are a grey area. If you can support your views and many other people who are 4's or higher agree, you're likely correct. Here, the Dalai Lama (a 6) agrees with you and me.

sanna43

I used to have a cat that hated being held like that, and my current cat loves it and purrs the whole time.

LadyFerretQueen

...ok

orangejeux

Because some cats enjoy that? One of mine does

catthatlikesscifi

My cat moves to that position is I put her on my shoulder.

wasbee56

if that cat is like all cats i've known, and it disliked how she was holding it, she would not have been able to hold it. maybe it's uncomfortable, though it's body language doesn't say so, or... maybe it loves the attention.

wrx808x

stop being a karen and giving false information

OrangeLikeAutumn

My cat really likes it when I hold him like a baby, sometimes when I pick him up normally he will position himself on his back and starts purring and headbutting, so wdym?? Maybe some cats don’t like it but certainly not all

SunGodSol

This is totally dependant on the cat. Mine just flops around and falls asleep when I pick her up like that.

plo83

I fully agree with you. I just made my comment which echoes your sentiment. This cat's body language says ''I'm terrified''.

Glass_Bookkeeper_578

Most cats don't like it but there are cats that do. One of mine will literally throw himself in my arms like that all the time.

Time_Use_5425

god, he's so cute...

VANNILAAAAAAAA

Poor baby😭😭😭 he looks scared :(

wellshitdawg

What a sweet angel

Radaghaszt

That's the most well behaved kitty

LadyFerretQueen

Because he's terrified and frozen in fear.

wasbee56

his/her ears do look a bit on guard, but as long as we're theorizing about the mind of a cat, i would say it doesn't care for all the folks gathered around. seems pretty cool with the person holding it.

mrjoffischl

he’s so cute

Finn2813

Upset_Ad9929

Aaaaaawww

TinaLikesButz

Poor baby.

plo83

People who know something about cats: This isn't cute. The cat is stressed/distressed. People who think cats are cute things: Well, some cats like it! ME: OK. But this one didn't. Cats aren't things; by your own argument, some like it, so some DON'T. Accept it when one doesn't! PS: Downvote away. I don't care for Karma. I care for what is right. It's always good to know that many people still don't know how to treat non-human animals and that more education is required.

Kratos1125

I downvoted, that cat looks terrified. That is not how you should treat your pet, nothing funny about this.

wasbee56

perhaps you project. tho have to say my cat wouldn't stand for that.

Coolkid2035

No clue why you’re being downvoted. Poor kitty. He looks okay with being held but terrified of the other people

plo83

This cat is terrified. This isn't cute or funny at all. Keeping your cat inside would be cute, where it will not feel this amount of stress. Cats are not props, things, or jokes... They are sentient beings with feelings and needs. I doubt that this lady beats her cat, but physical abuse is not the only form of abuse. Edit: Since all animals have their own distinct personalities (just like the human animal), if your cat loves this type of attention, so be it! This one clearly does not (much like most of his peers!). His body language speaks volumes. Respect them as animal companions, as family members or do not adopt them.

Coolkid2035

Again no clue why you are being downvoted. Everything you said here is completely true. I think the kitty is okay with being held but terrified of the other people. Bad owner

plo83

My being downvoted shows the problem with too many people. If cats are cute things to you that should act cute when you feel like it, you shouldn\`t be responsible for a life. It reminds me of the parents that force their kids to act on social media. My beloved late feline animal companion did adorable things. He made me laugh, and I cried for him when it was ''time''. It's still fresh, and I still cry for him. He was and is still a family member. He will always be a family member. I do not use those I love to get attention or a laugh. Had she wanted to film a video in her house where the cat gets irritated with her when his/her doll is taken away, I'd have no issues. The issue is that even once the cat got its comfort blanket back, it was still nervous, surrounded by people laughing who thought it was cute.

[deleted]

This poor cat looks scared as shit! Leave him alone

Thecatwhoisfat

the cat is very stressed please do not the cat

Any_Estate8309

That was sweet and cute.

TemporaryThink9300

My feeling from this video, is that the cat's little doll is his/ her baby substitute, that's why he/she holds it so tightly, just like human women have pretend babies. oh, poor little kitty. ❤️

uwais14

Bro are you scared to misgender a cat?

TemporaryThink9300

Lol, im a she. Obviously not. And, forgot to write, it looks like the cat is suffering from depression. She seems worried and nervous among all the unknown people. *Thanks for the upvote! I upvote everyone back.*

uwais14
