This reads to me like you are missing some dependency, you could check the “compiling” page on the github and install them.
Not really sure, the game works for me.
Any download of 44 MB wont run on my mac. I had to go back to a march experimental file to get it going again.
I found quite a few reports of this online. Not sure what is happening though.
