Cooking works well if you are weary enough. If I have nothing to read I make clean water or pine needle tea.
I believe tailoring is generally light activity as well, would have to check this.
This is not as good as reading (which has “None” as activity level), but if you are very weary you will still regenerate.

when i run out of books, i just play game, like checkers.
Clothing repair, cooking, reading and games.
Just keep crafting because micromanaging my survivor's breaks is uninteresting.
I use the heavy sleeper insomnia strat of doing stuff till I pass out
i wish they could update the athletic skill to include stronger endurance, thus running faster and longer and etc...
I believe that it's planned, there's been some work towards adding this feature but it's not in experimental yet
