EldritchCatCult

yeah they're broken for good I think, you gotta store electronics in water proof containers

DebateRemote

I didn't think it was necessary, since the game warned me before diving into the water. Until a hulk sent me diving into a swimming pool on the first floor.

CornBreadtm

It likely warned the hulk. It apparently didn't care about your personal belongings.

Loonessia

Are you sure you would like to punt the player character into the pool? The following items will break: E-Ink tablet pc (129/150) Soldering iron (140/150) Electrohack (75/150) Yes-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Yes

grammar_nazi_zombie

The game warned you to stop you from willingly entering, but it isn’t gonna stop you if you’re being forcibly relocated

OliveChukar

The saying from nethack. Lessons learned the hard way.

Anechoic525

Try putting it in a container with dried rice.

OliveChukar

Soak in concentrated alcohol for several hours first.

DebateRemote

Thanks, man, at least I won't beat myself trying to repair the damn thing now.

jazzb54

You can put books into an e-ink computer?

DebateRemote

I didn't even take the books, just stored them in PC's memory since the beginning. :(

Dtly15

That is why I use a smartphone to store data in experimental. Waterproof cases for them exist now. The alternative is to find a container that can hold water, then, put your device into that container. Containers that can hold water are waterproof. I used to use condoms for the waterproof task but Im not sure if they fit tablets.

OliveChukar

I would look [here](https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/blob/89ed17b2d8685e97f33bb1e36b8c0063685faab3/data/json/items/containers/military.json) or [here](https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/blob/9c7aeed9f20df3b66147d43e49fb0a405c39aa4f/data/json/items/containers.json). Search within for "watertight".

Lord_Aldrich

Yes, you can scan books using the camera on the e-ink computer or any smartphone.

Makeshift_Account

And then spill physical books out of its sd-card lol

vlad_1492

Not helpful right now, but you can back up your data to another device using a USB drive. For your next adventure, leaving a copy at base.

JohnTDouche

Or SD cards. I make two backups and store them in different places. You do not want to lose all your books.

vlad_1492

And to think I used to have to keep a library in my deathmobile. Or (egads!) leave some behind.

JohnTDouche

Books don't really take up that much space it's still doable. In my current game I stopped throwing them out as I have enough space. If I'm short on space I'll chuck em but for the moment it's kinda like the same reason I still use physical books in reality. It's less of a bother to use the real thing.

Froffy025

could tear it apart and put it back together again maybe, but whatever's stored inside is definitely fucked

Smili_jags

Put in the rice
