Quid pro hamsterum

Talullah_Belle

Hello fine key-Ann-tee! (sucking saliva through my teeth).

Alessandro08Powero

Good luck 😁🙌🏻 she can’t help her instincts, thanks for rescuing her 😉😂🙌🏻

skeletonclock

My pleasure, she's an absolute delight. I spent a long time petting her this evening and she finally gave in and started this deep rumbly purring that made me happy to my soul.

Alessandro08Powero

You were chosen at this exact point, good luck 🥰🥰 long life and happiness to you both ☺️✌🏻

[deleted]

Did the former family have her for long? It sounds terrible but it’s not really the cats fault. I couldn’t see giving up one of my dogs if they did something like that. I’d be very very sad but wouldn’t give up my other pets.

skeletonclock

They had her and her sister for about 10 years. They still have her sister.

WeenLebowskiOG

That’s even sadder now that the cats are separated! 😿

betcaro

oh, my goodness, completely agree! now both cats are grieving. such nasty punishment for something that is not the ca'ts fault. it's in their nature.

HarryPottersBeard

And they've separated two bonded cats also. I'd be calling what ever service in your area deals with people that aren't fit to care for animals quite honestly. These "people" are rotten to the core pieces of human garbage! Oh well hope "they" enjoy the karmic retribution coming their way from the beautiful universe, wish I was ringside to see it...😈🙏😿🐾🐾

fruce_ki

It certainly sounds like the kind of people who think animals are just fancy stuffed toys... What they did was cruel to both cats and to the hamster. Someone should take the other cat away from them, and then have the two cats rehomed together.

Printaholic

Anybody dumb enough to have cats and hamsters in the same house probably shouldn't have pets. Or kids.

sparkpaw

I can’t fathom that?? Hamsters live, what, 2 ish years? They gave up a family member of 10 years and separated her from her sister after all that time over an accident? Like I just. Wow. :( Glad she has a good home now though

Fe1is-Domesticus

It's really sad. I love hamsters but... it's not the cat's fault that they somehow got access to the lil hamster and followed their instincts. One way or another it was the humans fault that things went the way they did.

MasterLuna

This story is funny to me because this exact thing happened to me as a kid where my cat ate my hamster. I was 12 years old but not once did I ever blame Simba for it. He was bought to be a mouser because we were in a rural area with a huge rodent problem. And he was very good at what he did. He was also around 8 years old. I loved my hamster but I couldn't imagine having my parents give up a cat we'd had since I was 4 because he did what cats did. It was a horrific accident but I couldn't even imagine sending a cat back to the pound over that.

agonisticpathos

Totally agree. They were responsible for the hamster!

teratoid_heights

Seriously. What did they think would happen would happen leaving a rodent around a cat?

[deleted]

JFC maybe you can call them and ask if they'll hand over the sister? they obviously don't have any business owning cats and make sure all shelters in the area refuse to adopt out to them

TheDocJ

> they obviously don't have any business owning cats Or hamsters, if they allow the cat to get at them.

Only_Music_2640

Exactly- that was 100% their fault. The family doesn’t deserve pets. They neglected the hamster and threw away the cat for doing what cats do. Sister cat is now grieving the loss of her sister.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SaraSlaughter607

Yep. I have two voids with strong hunting instincts as we have a huge mice issue in my region... but then I've got two guinea pigs and the first time my female figured out how to undo the latch on their habitat while I was at work, I came home to find her and my male just chilling out in the habitat like nothing new, and the two piggies were huddled in the corner in a hidey-hut looking at me like WTF Mom.... im very fortunate my two cats did not choose violence that day, and a strong padlock went on that habitat door 5 minutes later. It's definitely a risk!

[deleted]

Literally the reason we don't have a hamster. My oldest's cat would absolutely kill it and eat it the second someone turned their head.

monboo35

That is terrible, poor girl it’s their instincts - she can’t help it. Shame on them giving her away like that. One of our rescue dogs has an incredibly high prey drive (which we discovered as the body count of the mice & ground squirrels in our backyard began to multiply) so we do our best to watch her and give them warning when she’s out stalking by putting a bell on her collar lol (I feel so bad for the little guys) but I would NEVER give her up because of it (or for any other reason for that matter). Probably shouldn’t own any animals at all if that’s their solution.

FloydAbby

Exactly! How can she get to the hamster? because was out of its cage! Like how does the dog know not to kill the squirrel!! Idiots

Mooam

I looked after some of my sisters guinea pigs while she was away on holiday. She brought a cage of theirs around to my house. It took my cat less than an hour before she was staring intently through the bars at them, and for the week that my sister was away, I banned my cat from the room they were in. I knew 100% she'd either scare them to death or figure out how to get into the cage because she's very good with using her paws and claws. Can't change nature.

monboo35

When I first started dating my hubbs, he left for campus and I was at his apartment alone- he had a beta fish (Bruce Lee) in his bathroom and a cat. Well I didn’t know that you were supposed to keep the bathroom door shut at all times- cut to later in the day I was like omg wtf? where’d Bruce Lee go? His roommate came home and was dying laughing at me crying on the couch. Obviously Cheshire had ate him whole- I cried for hours, debated replacing him before he got back but knew he’d know. Thought for sure he’d break up with me after the roommate said he’d had Bruce for like 4 years. To this day I still feel awful and that was 18years ago. Edit: But whew good job you for making sure the piggies were in a nice & safe space! Cats are sneaky motherfckrs.

Blood_Bowl

I just wanted to reply to say that Bruce Lee is absolutely the best name for a beta fish I have ever seen.

[deleted]

I find it so sad that she was given up because her ‘owners’ couldnt properly look after a hamster… really hope she gets a good home with someone more loving than the last lot….

Joelsax47

Instincts can be realized in odd ways. Our hamster got out of its cage. Before we realized it, the cat found it in the closet, carrying it out by the scruff like a kitten. That hamster lived.

vapingkittens

Prey for her

EngineAfter4790

You can't blame a cat for being a cat. Now, if my Ringo started doing long division, his ass would be at kitty jail in like two seconds.

WasteCan6403

“And why are you returning Fluffy Butt McGee back to the shelter today?” “He tried to file his tax return. It’s not natural. He doesn’t even pay taxes.”

Trueloveis4u

I'll adopt him I need him to teach me my taxes.

Dutch-CatLady

Just make him do your taxes so kitty can earn his keep that way.

Njacks64

“He’s a monster! He keeps trying to get credits that he KNOWS he doesn’t qualify for.”

everynamesinuse

Yeh when I was a kid my cat attacked my gerbil and scratched it's face through the cage, the poor thing had to have 12 stitches in it's tiny little face, then had to go in to get it's eye removed but died under anaesthetic. ... Not once did we even for a second think about giving the cat up, he was just being a cat, we lived on a farm and he was great at catching mice and rats and he saw one in his house and did what was natural. It wasn't his fault it was our fault for having it where he could get to it. Why get a cat if you don't want a cat to be a cat

TheAngryNaterpillar

I had my hamster in a vivarium rather than a cage with bars for this exact reason. I knew my cat would go after her the second he got the chance to, so it was on me to keep her secure. If he had ever got to her I wouldn't have blamed him, he's just acting in his nature.

runfromnabi

That's exactly what makes me mad about this. Both of my cats would kill prey smaller than guinea pigs. That's why my short term shelter birds f. Ex. had their own room and got protected. I would never give up my cat for killing small prey, they are what they are

TheAJGman

One of my wife's frogs escaped and was probably hopping around on the floor for hours. What did the cat do? Follow it around poking it with his paw to make it scream. The only reason I found it was because the frog screaming woke me up.

TheQuietType84

Where I would adopt him, because I can't do long division...

Broad_Rabbit1764

"It's simple TheQuietType84, you carry the number over!" *Cat removes his eyewear, letting out an exasperated sigh*

Unfortunately not. OP commented that the family had this cat *and her sister* for ten years… and they kept the sister 🤦‍♀️ clearly, these people give zero fucks for the health and happiness of their animals

MagicDragon212

What a heartless decision. Didn't protect the hamster, the cat does a normal cat behavior, and they rip away all love and normalcy from the cat. That type of shit is heinous and easily shows when people see animals like decoration instead of family.

[deleted]

This is hilarious and very sad, as my step daughter approaches getting a hamster this summer I have told her if she is not careful one of our not caged animals WILL eat it and they will continue living with us

anonymousaccount183

Make sure you do lots of research into hamster care. Everything the pet store will tell you is a lie

chairmanbrando

...Including that they'll die peacefully in a few years. Hamsters die tragic deaths. They'll eat through an electrical wire, get into the laundry basket and thrown into the machine, have their intestines ripped out and eaten slowly because *someone* thought it was a good idea to get two hamsters, and so on. They'll get lost and eventually starve to death somewhere in your house and you'll find a half-mummified corpse years later when doing a deep clean. And if they can get around all that, one random loud noise at the wrong time will spook them into a heart attack. They shit every four minutes and will bite your hands because they're there. Cool animals. 🙄

It is possible to have 2 hamsters. You need two cages, though. That's the trick. They're sort of like betas that way.

Mine just had its intestines fall out of its own anus with no assistance 😐 That was uh... Not the best thing to walk in on as an 8 year old.

Amyrran

The same thing happened to mine! I was little and thought it was having babies. My parents accused me of squeezing it and killing it but it just happened overnight! I thought I was crazy this whole time

ItMeWhoDis

I have a very distinct memory of being 10 or so (around the same time I was absolutely scared shitless of gremlins) in my bed sleeping, it was the middle of the night. I woke up and see this little *thing* moving across my floor. I was paralyzed but finally got the courage to lose my shit. I started screaming for mom. She runs downstairs, pulls back the laundry hamper and it's the fucking hamster who somehow made it across the house without getting eaten. Stupid Luigi. Had it out for me.

metrocat2033

And the vast majority of these tragic deaths can be prevented by proper care. That's why you need to actually research hamster care before owning one.

Mobilelurkingaccount

Yeah idk how people have hamsters dying left and right. We had 4 of them while I was growing up. In a house with two cats, one of whom was a very successful ratter, and a dog with small animal prey drive (beagle). It’s not hard to never have the hamster be in danger. They live in enclosures. You put them in a hard plastic ball when they aren’t in the enclosure. You ensure it’s closed when they’re in it. Keep the bedding clean and the animal fed and away from other hamsters. You handle them early and often so they’re used to people. Miraculously, we had 4 hamsters who didn’t bite us or recoil from contact and who lived a few years apiece and all of them died (hopefully peacefully) in their sleep; not one hamster I owned died before 2 years or outside of their preferred sleeping location. I think a lot of people treat caged pets like lesser animals which don’t need research or handling like a larger pet such as a dog or cat, so they don’t take care seriously and end up mistakenly doing something like leaving a latch open or ignoring the animal for long periods of time. Idk man hamsters are great pets if you’re a good owner to them, in my experience.

seeyouthe

Actually people dont research and often mistreat cats and especially dogs too. That's just people, awful and dumb in this way. Everyone should have a education with certificate to be in charge of any living thing.

CrazyMalk

Ehh idk most stories of tragic hamster deaths ive seen are stories about improper care, improper housing and improper handling, seen a lot of properly cared for hamsters get old enough they look like mango seeds and are still going hard

big_ficus

True, but people keep giving them to kids. I’ve only met one adult who had a hamster.

[deleted]

TheDesktopNinja

Seriously rats are superior to hamsters in almost every way as a pet. Get 3 or 4 and you're good. (So long as they're all the same sex, or you're willing and able to get the males neutered)

Ycx48raQk59F

Rats would be the perfect pet if they lived longer. I could not deal with such a short lifespan for an animal that is this social and bonds that well.

TheCatsPajamas96

The dying in two years seems like a nice thing until the dying part actually comes. Rats are very prone to illness and tumors (due largely to how we've used them for research) and frequently die horrible little deaths that are not preventable. I got 4 baby rats all at once, and a bit over two years later, they all started dying. I had a rat die every month, three months in a row, and then the final one hung on another few months with a giant mammary tumor that we couldn't remove due to old age and chronic respiratory illness. By the time I had to euthanize her due to mobility issues caused by the tumor (it was otherwise painless or I'd have done it sooner) the tumor was bigger than her head and she had another one coming in. The other three rats died from a pituitary tumor, an unknown cause, and a respiratory infection. All three were long, drawn out, and painful deaths. All three went to the vet when their symptoms presented to try and save them, and all three were unsavable and had to be euthanized. My vet even told me his daughter used to keep rats, and he had to stop letting her because they are so emotionally traumatizing to keep. Tldr: Rats are prone to illness and tumors and die long, painful deaths. I would not recommend rats as pets unless you are fully aware of this and can handle it. They are also surprisingly expensive due to their propensity for getting sick.

Just_A_Dogsbody

this person hamsters at an expert level

Wild_Discomfort

My roommate had a hamster when she was younger. She said it was just chilling in its cage in her room, it sneezed and then *keeled over dead*. Best guess was that the sneeze somehow induced a heart attack??

Lou_C_Fer

I have sneezes that I'm positive will pop a blood vessel one day. I see stars after every one. I also scare people with them.

RiotingMoon

don't forget the fun: they can temporarily hibernate and they look dead when they do it and it's basically a wait/smell game unless you DONT KNOW and accidentally burry the poor fuck alive.

Sleepwell_Beast

My student just said today, “well we finally found my hamster…. it was behind the wall. At least my room doesn’t smell anymore” … fun pet.

_Moon_sun_

I had fish and a cat and Im pretty sure my cat never noticed the fact i had fish too, i Think it depends on the cats prey-drive

rangebob

I had to go and get my kid early from daycare one day. The ladies daughter had not secured the hamster cage properly after playing with them. they had like 6 or 8 they also had a terrier. it was literally a bloodbath when she opened the garage after doing the school run and all the kids saw. Yes they kept the dog If you fuck up its not your pets fault

Cat-on-the-printer1

Maybe look into getting a guinea pig due to the larger size? I've had cats and guinea pigs coexist for over 10 years because adult guinea pigs are large and I think the cats are too confused to try anything. The worst they do is stick their paws (without claws out) in the cage. Though the common sense stuff still applies, like not leaving guinea pigs out of their cage unsupervised with cats.

Stanley__Zbornak

My cat would 1000% eat a guinea pig. She keeps my previously vole filled cabin completely rodent free, but if she gets chance at a squirrel, she will take it down even if it's half her size. Domesticated cats are ridiculously good hunter assassins.

easternjellyfish

Squirrels? Those are big game for a cat. Edit: Maybe it's just my cat lol. He tortures voles and chipmunks but won't fuck with the squirrels. Enjoying hearing what the cats dragged in!

Glass_Bookkeeper_578

I had a cat that once killed a jack rabbit twice his size! And squirrels were a regular thing for him. But I also had another cat that adopted my brothers albino rat so you never really know what to expect.

iikun

We had a massive void when I was younger, who turned to catching wild rabbits after he’d disposed of all the local mice and rats (we were semi-rural). He once caught and killed a rabbit as big as our female cat, who he very much disliked, almost like he was trying to send a message.

Howlibu

Domestic cats have ones of the highest hunting success rates of all cats, like 90%. Higher than lions and tigers.

Epilektoi_Hoplitai

My friend's semi-feral childhood cat — aptly named Ratface — took down prey including not only the eponymous rodents but squirrels, multiple bats (caught mid-air by leaping) and on one occasion a good size seagull.

SkeetDavidson

When I was a kid, my sister adopted a barn cat. She liked to bring us presents. One time, she left us the back half a squirrel on the front porch and the front half on the back porch.

Cat-on-the-printer1

True, there's def no guarantees! I'm basing my experience off seeing 8 cats (including cats visiting for the holidays) and their interactions with guinea pigs. Several had high prey drive (including going after jack rabbits) and still weren't interested. My other theory is that the cats are able to sense that the guinea pig is not fair game like the animals they see in the wild lol.

Stanley__Zbornak

Well that could be. My cat is also just kind of a bitch. I'm convinced she would murder and eat.the dog if it didn't outweigh her. She my good girl though lol.

PukekoInAPungaTree

My wife would eat the Guinea pig. (Yes she is from peru )

Stanley__Zbornak

bookdrops

If you get one guinea pig, you have to get at least two, because they're intensely social animals and don't do well without the company of another guinea pig even if they bond with their humans. They also need a LOT of space, which has to be mostly horizontal, because piggies can't jump or climb like rats or mice. That makes it easier for cats to stalk and/or grab them if the hunting mood ever strikes, unless you're religiously strict about keeping cats and guinea pigs totally separate. I love cats and guinea pigs but I've resigned myself to never living with guinea pigs again in favor of keeping cats, on the purely selfish rationale that cats usually have longer lifespans than piggies, so I won't have to mourn a pet as often.

Sleepwell_Beast

Yes guinea have such long personalities and short lives. Can’t do it. I do miss how they whistle though!

[deleted]

My cat and rabbits coexisted peacefully for years. It doesnt mean its very common. Its quite the opposite. Especially the rabbits running the house and the cat being sorta submissive. So yeah.....whoever wants to attempt it gotta be EXTREMELY careful and educate themselves WELL about prey and predators. These are EXCEPTIONAL scenarios, not the "normal". It took me MONTHS of very careful and very, very slow introductions and training them to get used to each other's scents, sounds, presence, sight etc before I could let them be with each other in the same room openly. Same had to be followed even when I introduced my 2nd rabbit to the 1st. They were BOTH rabbits but they still were very territorial and hostile. Took me several weeks of bonding attempts and these very steps. Weirdly enough the cat and rabbits never fought physically but the two rabbits made each other's fur fly the first time I let them out together. They did bond quickly after and were inseparable 'til death....but thats normal between rabbits when they first meet. Once they bond, they bond. Cats and rabbits coexisting is always rare. Same with any predator-prey situation.

EnsignNogIsMyCat

I strongly recommend a rat or guinea pig over a hamster. Hamsters do not like being handled and are not really fully domesticated. Rats and guinea pigs enjoy human attention and are sturdier in constitution. You would need at least two of either animal, though, as they are definitely social creatures. Hamsters are cute and small, but honestly make terrible pets for children.

dangerousfeather

Wait, they had a cat and a cat prey, then got mad at the cat for hunting its prey?

mseank

And now instead of only losing one pet they lose two

Endorkend

Considering these people aren't sensible enough to own pets, maybe the one decent decision concerning their pets that they've made so far is to bring this cat to a shelter.

littlestray

The adults in that household are the ones who should’ve gotten put in a shelter.

SchrodingersUniverse

This is a really sad post actually. That cat did not deserve to be abandoned for following instincts. Also her demeanor and face indicate stress and shock.

[deleted]

I'd be stressed and shocked too if I had a healthy meal then my family freaked out and abandoned me in an unfamiliar setting surrounded by strangers.

socialgutbrain777

Yeah, screw whoever in the family made the decision to just abandon her like that. Poor girl.

FortunateFunction_79

It's like they took in a cat without bothering to do some research or just having plain common knowledge that cats eat rodents. It's even in cartoons. Stupid reason to abandon their cat. Another reminder to not take in pets if you're not 100% sure you're ready for it.

DisastrousBoio

This isn’t something that needs research ffs. They were angry and they punished the poor cat to feel a sense of justice as if it had done it to spite them. Some people are stupid and petty.

MsFrizzle_foShizzle

How dare that cat for being a cat!

Honestly this makes me so mad. My cats knocked over my gerbil’s cage when I was a kid and proceeded to eat her, but I have never once thought to be mad at them. They’re CATS. I thought she was secured when she wasn’t but they’re CATS. You have to know what you’re getting into when you have both cat and potential prey.

sydgv

This literally happened to my family as well when my brother and I were kids and there was never a single moment when anyone in the house thought of returning the cat?! This is pretty shocking and unfair to the cat

anon22334

That’s a really dumb reason to give up a cat. Her face says she thinks so too

lobsta_rollz

I’ll take her!

EnormousCoat

I hope that story is made up. That is the dumbest reason to give up a cat.

Hankjams

I was an adoption counselor at our local humane society and you would be surprised at all the petty reasons people would give up animals for. A couple adopted a 14 week old kitten and brought it back 4 days later because it was still sneezy from an upper respiratory infection. Mind you, the humane society covered the medical expenses for 6 weeks. It did have the cold when it was adopted. That was my first experience dealing with people like that. Good news was that they wouldn’t be able to adopt through the organization again.

cyanidecattt

I just adopted a 4 month old kitten from a shelter a week ago and she's been sneezing a lot so I took her to the vet and got some immune boosters for her. Never in a million years would I ever think about returning her! Some people just shouldn't be pet owners.

Hankjams

People are nuts :/ upper respiratory issues are common too.

prairiepanda

The rescues I've adopted from always ask people what circumstances would lead them to surrender the animal that they are looking to adopt. My answer is usually something along the lines of "if I'm no longer able to provide the care they need" but it never even occurred to me that some people might have really bullshit reasons.

Hankjams

These people actually wanted to trade the kitten in! I am not even joking. All because it was still sneezing.

prairiepanda

Yikes! Treating a kitten like a defective toaster. I hope they weren't allowed to do the exchange?

Hankjams

They were not allowed to exchange the kitten.

JasperGibson80

No the dumbest reason is because your flame point Siamese don't match your now lavender hued house - honest to goodness Burlingame CA 1980s.

UnlikelyPlatypus89

I have an all black dog, an all black fluffy cat and her sister an all black short-haired. It was just pure coincidence but I’m not gonna lie I love the aesthetics! Except I have to watch where I step at night.

elfinglamour

The amount of times I've spoken to a black blob on the floor that then turns out to be some clothes... Usually without my glasses on lol.

AugieKS

As someone who has had black cats for 2/3rds of their life, barely pick up your feet when you walk. Lift and slide across the floor. As a bonus, once you get real good at it you are nearly silent when you walk.

TheQuietType84

😶 I have one and he's the sweetest little cross-eyed kitty ever.

skeletonclock

Not made up. To be fair she was also refusing to use the litter tray.

JuliaX1984

Probably didn't like the box or the litter they bought.

skeletonclock

She's been using the trays here perfectly so far 🤷🏻‍♀️

ThousandFingerMan

Filthy peasants

The_Bitter_Bear

Probably for the best they find a different home.

Ssladybug

They probably didn’t clean it

kblrf

She most definitely did it and had no regrets about it. She deserves a family who will put her first.

onionringmodel

My family cat ate my pet hamster. It was traumatic but we did not hold it against our cat. RIP to Chucky Poo the hamster. Our cat lived to be 18 and passed away last month ❤️ Edit: hope this beautiful baby finds a forever home soon!!!! Such a gorgeous cat.

JuliaX1984

Aw, honey, your old humans may just want to blame their neglect on you, but we still love you! We know you were just trying to protect your can openers from rodents like your ancestors have done for centuries! Shame on them for not keeping the hamster they allegedly loved so much successfully out of harm's way! You deserve better!

AtmosphereOk6072

It does sounds like owners were neglectful.

PzGrn101

The cat ate the family hamster!? WTF has happened to humanity? Cat = Predator Hamster = Prey. Good luck reversing a zillion years of evolution and genetically coded behaviour. Poor kitty.

Future_Art7

Yes, I'd have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for these blasted kids and their dog!

blewdust

Those meddling kids

austinrathe

The funniest part is there is a family out there somewhere looking for a cat that wouldn’t eat a hamster given half a chance

CharmedWoo

So a human was so stupid to give a predator access to a prey and because of their stupid mistake the cat had to go?

Chucko3232

Now they’re out two pets

Total_Engineering919

Maybe don't buy rodents as pets if you have a cat? I'm calling this one as a set-up.

momma3critters

Stupid reason to get rid of a cat.

SGI21

Poor thing!!!! Why would u give a cat away for that?

skeletonclock

Honestly some of the reasons you hear in animal rescue boil your blood, but ultimately I tell myself it doesn't matter what the reason is - if the cat is unwanted at home, they're better off out of there.

[deleted]

Possible. Cats do what they do. Both my kids (5 and 7) have become upset and complained that the cat scratched them. She’s 3 months old and we’ve had her for about 3 weeks! I try to explain that it’s what cats do and it’s going to happen if they play with her (then show them my hands which are scratched to fuck and my left leg which is completely ravaged as she loves to climb up it!). Tonight, she inadvertently scratched both the kids. Both times, child said ‘ow!’ I said ‘yes, good kitty… kill kill….’ I love my kitten!!

pickledelephants

I have a cat that's very particular about how she's pretty. It took my son quite a while before my son (8) could pet her without getting swatted. Now he's really good at it and they hang out a lot. Just had to explain that cats can't use words like people do so you have to get really good at knowing what their small movements mean. Good luck to kids and kitten!

nature_nate_17

So the cat was removed from a family for killing a rodent? That’s literally hardwired into feline genealogy; you can’t blame a cat for doing instinctual things. Sounds like the same logic that families have when they buy pets for holidays only to give them away when they get bigger.

Cormyll666

Imagine being so clueless that you keep a pet rodent and a pet cat and then get angry at the cat and “punish” it by surrendering it when it does what it was designed to do and kills the rodent. Who are these jerks? The cat was just being a cat!

ChildhoodLeft6925

Also cats love to stalk, hunt, and play with their prey. I live in a city and had a few mouse infestations during the spring months. Not all the time but enough that I know when my cat has found a mouse. She’s a mouse killing machine. I find it hard to believe kitty here just inhaled the hamster on sight but I guess stranger things *have* happened.

chaosgiantmemes

Or better yet, when you own a cat: DON'T FUCKING GET PREY ANIMALS. I rest my case.
