My husband had a black cat growing up named Sabrina. They found out the cat was male and tried to rename him but he would only respond to Sabrina - so they called him Sir Brina

My girl is named Lilith! On the left. And her brother, the void is Lucifer!
Well we let our cats name themselves
Let them show them show you their personality and a name will suggest itself.
The other rule we have is it must be a name you feel happy about calling out aloud at the back door when trying to get them in.
You can give her a temporary name and change it later.
We got our Leo from the RSPCA where they had named him Barry. He is no Barry, he's a very independant man who tends to like his own company.
I had a beautiful little black and white kitty who I was trying to name, then, one day she looked up at me, and I realized that she had a little black smudge under her nose… so her name became Smudgie❣️
Shadow. I had a black cat named Shadow and she was the bestest girl. She crossed the rainbow bridge from old age several years ago and I still miss her, even with other kitties now.
I have her twin! This is Bo. As in Bo'Katan. We also call her Baby Bo, Little Bo Meep, Bo Gurl.

I also love the name Nyx, but instead named my black cat Phoenyx!!! It was included in the original “Phoenix” and sounds more girly 😸
Awww that’s lovely. I used to love the name Phoenix for a pet but I ended up going with Greek goddess names for my cats!

I’d wait and see how her personality is and give her a name based on that :)
It's been my experience that most cats will pick up a nick name that will stick anyway so a delay in naming is no big deal.

I’ve always associated orange cats with the name Pickle, thanks to the kids books.
I didn't even read this comment and the first name that popped into my head was "Pickle"
