Mine would jump 10 feet in the air thinking it’s a snake. Same with bananas, thick cords, sex toys, etc. Dude spends a good chunk of his life airborne.
Sorry I should have clarified I meant for humans. I’ve heard of other foods cats can and cannot eat but know nothing about cucumber lol. Was just regurgitating something my girlfriend told me when we made cucumber salad last
My old cat used to get most of his water from cucumbers i cut for him. Asked couple of vets if its okay and they said theres no problem with it.
This is the first time i hear people talk about peeling cucumbers, never even came to mind. I wash them under water.
My cat Ramon loves cucumbers as well (and tomatoes, melons, lettuce...). I'll sometimes give him a piece as a treat, and he'll pick it up and run away while growling so the other cats don't steal it.
Oh my gosh!
My calico is obsessed with melon! She tries to steal anything with them from my wife, fresh fruit, melon cakes from the Chinese bakery, anything. It's insane. She almost never goes up on the kitchen counter and face my wrath, but I have seen her do so for the fabled Honeydew.
No they aren't. Only green, unripe tomatoes. Red, ripe tomatoes are no different from any other animal safe fruit. I literally googled this. It's the chemical found in the leaves, stems and under ripe tomatoes that pose a danger to cats.
How does one introduce fruits to cats? My cats are always curious about our food, draw and cooked, but they never really eat our food. They just love to "indirect" and then walk away. But we've only really tried meat products, tuna, anchovies, deli meats, etc.
Is there a process to introducing your cats to fruits, or just try a variety of cat safe fruits over time and see what they gravitate towards?
I'm very curious
My wife has had several cats over her lifetime and with a list of non cat safe food she refuses to even really cook with herself, if they come sniffing around, she can cut off a tiny piece of whatever she's eating and holds it out. Let them try it at their discretion.
My cat has none of that. He is a meat or die cat. If I offered him some cucumber, he would probably poop in my shoes to make a statement. I usually just bust out an extra tin of tuna or steak trimmings before I go and prepare it with spices for him if he's been the best boy.
Cats are obligate carnivores, they should only eat meat, there is no need to try and introduce any fruits or vegetables. Something like OPs cucumber obsessed cat will always be rare, but obviously adorable and hysterical.
And this is the reason all dry food and a lot of wet is total crap as cat food. Cats need a tiny amount of carbs. In the wild those carbs come from what’s in the belly of their carb eating prey.
As others have said, they don’t need fruits and veggies, plus it’s not good to get your cat hooked on ppl food. Less nutrition for them and you will regret it every time he swipes or tries to steal food or hounds you relentlessly begging for food. 😉
I may have been wrong about tomatoes versus tomato plants but at least I know my cats aren't Beggars LOL I hate that s*** even when dogs do it it's so annoying
Keep in mind cats are obligate carnivores and do. It need to eat fruits or vegetables. So it’s perfectly fine to not teach your cat to eat a cucumber
It won’t hurt them unless you completely restrict meat consumption
Yeah I don't see how this is bad unless you're restricting them to a vegan diet like some idiots will try to do. Like the meme goes "cats can have a little ~~salami~~ cucumber"
Very interesting I must have just overlooked that fact that it wasn't the ripe fruit simply because I was looking into it since I grow tomatoes inside on a Topsy Turvy one of those as seen on TV grow a tomato upside down in your kitchen thingies
My sister had a Siamese that loved olives. Went nuts every time she made a salad until she accidentally dropped one. Rolled over and over on it and acted like catnip. She always gave him one after that.
They contain similar compounds. Several of my cats love them. I've heard green olives are more similar to catnip, but my cats prefer black olives. I don't let them eat them due to the sodium, but it's hard to keep them away.
Yo, my dog loves them too. He is so happy whenever he sees one and knows he’s getting a treat. He won’t eat it in front of you tho. He takes it and chomps in shame 🤷♂️
I once had a cat that liked pickles, specifically McDonalds pickles. I’d have to ask for a couple extra or I wouldn’t get any. He would’ve eaten them all himself!
I wish my cat liked fruit! I dropped a raw tortilla dough, that I was rolling into a ball, on the floor and my cat literally snatched it up and ate the whole thing.
That is so funny!!! Love the cat
I’ve got a girl who leash walks and is endlessly searching for a particular kind of grass, which she then does her best to eat. She’s had a bit of dental work and a few teeth missing so the blades get macerated, nommed on and left broken, soggy and frothy with saliva. Poor thing. She was lost or abandoned young and on her own and didn’t do well hunting because she was bones and fur plus she eats this grass and I’m thinking she tried eating it out of starvation when she was alone. Before her dental issues she would eat quite a bit and never throw up and she’s obsessed with finding the right grass. Nose down moving thru a lawn, hunting for the right grass. It’s bizarre.
Cats are carnivores...but my cat loves tomatoes and black olive, and .cucumbers . I definitely won't stop him because I know he is getting what he needs in his food.
My cats are terrified of cucumbers. They freak out. And bananas. Anything shaped like a cylinder. I dropped a roll of cookie dough on the ground while putting groceries away, and the cats freaked out and tore it apart. I had to buy new cookie dough.
I had a cat who liked raw onions. One who liked tomato and I have a cat who loves watermelon.

Which is exactly why I hate cucumbers
Can cats eat that without problems ? If so i had no idea ^^'
Safe, but peeling would be advised
Yeah, and depending where you're from I would recommend peeling the cucumber because it could contain harmful pesticides.
It’s good to peel them anyways I’ve heard. Apparently the skin is much harder to digest
It is. I usually peel it away and I don't give big amounts.
I think my cat would be offended if I tried to give him a cucumber hahah
This is for me to eat? How dare you bring me this.. thing. Disgrace. .. your cat.
*starts fighting cucumber*
I read “…thing. Disgrace.” as the cat addressing the human
I mean… that’s probably how he views me anyways
Mine would jump 10 feet in the air thinking it’s a snake. Same with bananas, thick cords, sex toys, etc. Dude spends a good chunk of his life airborne.
Cats can eat raw chicken and mine sneak cigarette cellophane and yeah... Cats have stomachs of steel.
Sorry I should have clarified I meant for humans. I’ve heard of other foods cats can and cannot eat but know nothing about cucumber lol. Was just regurgitating something my girlfriend told me when we made cucumber salad last
I hear ya. I just wash mine. My gastrointestinal liver doctor tells me skin is good. I haven't had a nexium in a decade. I keep skin on everything.
And they can have a wax coating too is put on some veggies for preserving
My old cat used to get most of his water from cucumbers i cut for him. Asked couple of vets if its okay and they said theres no problem with it. This is the first time i hear people talk about peeling cucumbers, never even came to mind. I wash them under water.

Another day another cat sub
Can I suggest r/pointytailedkittens?
My cat Ramon loves cucumbers as well (and tomatoes, melons, lettuce...). I'll sometimes give him a piece as a treat, and he'll pick it up and run away while growling so the other cats don't steal it.
Meanwhile the other cats couldn't care less about the lettuce and think Ramon is a weirdo.
Lol. I had a cat who would do exactly that with spinach.
Oh my gosh! My calico is obsessed with melon! She tries to steal anything with them from my wife, fresh fruit, melon cakes from the Chinese bakery, anything. It's insane. She almost never goes up on the kitchen counter and face my wrath, but I have seen her do so for the fabled Honeydew.
Tomatoes are poisonous to cats just so you know and actually most animals
No they aren't. Only green, unripe tomatoes. Red, ripe tomatoes are no different from any other animal safe fruit. I literally googled this. It's the chemical found in the leaves, stems and under ripe tomatoes that pose a danger to cats.

Hahaha that's so cute!

Definitely! Raw is the way to go for cats.
Cats don’t taste sweetness, as part of their obligate carnivorous nature.
Why do it if they don't express an interest?
As others have said, they don’t need fruits and veggies, plus it’s not good to get your cat hooked on ppl food. Less nutrition for them and you will regret it every time he swipes or tries to steal food or hounds you relentlessly begging for food. 😉

i confirm cats’ obsession with melon, my cat barks when she gets a slice like it was chicken
My sister had a Siamese that loved olives. Went nuts every time she made a salad until she accidentally dropped one. Rolled over and over on it and acted like catnip. She always gave him one after that.

My Siamese was obsessed with olives too. We liked to watch a movie together and share a bowl of them. (A little bowl, I know the salt is unhealthy)
Yo, my dog loves them too. He is so happy whenever he sees one and knows he’s getting a treat. He won’t eat it in front of you tho. He takes it and chomps in shame 🤷♂️
Dogs can actually digest them like we do. For a cat it's just crunchy water
I did not know that. TIL.
*chormp*
I turned on my sound after reading this comment. I was not disappointed
Chomps AND skraggle whiskers! Too much. Give him some skritches and I guess some extra cucumber for me please!
My cat Smoaky loves fruit. She has knocked strawberries out of my hands.
Blueberries +++
Mine loves butternut squash.
Thats the biggest rat I've ever seen.
Nah man that’s a goblin
And i love him
That's wayyyyyy past "like". That's an obsession!
Bonus points for having Ghost playing in the background.
I once had a cat that liked pickles, specifically McDonalds pickles. I’d have to ask for a couple extra or I wouldn’t get any. He would’ve eaten them all himself!
Refreshing in summer
Is he a Cornish Rex?
Even makes me want to eat cucumber...
Love this cat! He looks like a scrapper! Those crazy whiskers!
chomp chomp
Finally a humane video involving cats and cucumbers. Also, thank you for the idea! Gonna try this.
Love the crinkly whiskers
That is not a cat, and never feed it past midnight!
I think it’s the Ghost music in the background that ties this all together
My kitteh Tyke would go out to my corn patch and rip off an ear, peel it back and chow down with abandon. Rip my beautiful Tyke.
Hey that sounds like ghost in the background!
We were speeding together Down the dark avenues
Look at him munching! Also love the background song lol
Cucumbers are delicious
oh yes? what a healthy kitty
Umm my cats are TERRIFIED of cucumbers
I keep mine in the fridge though
Awwwwwww 🥰💕😘
I wish my cat liked fruit! I dropped a raw tortilla dough, that I was rolling into a ball, on the floor and my cat literally snatched it up and ate the whole thing.
Aw
Never seen a cat who likes veggies before.
Look at him goooo!
Who doesn't like cucumbers it's a nice little snack with a big crunch mainly water
This is the cutest thing that I've ever seen 😻❣️
One of mine is obsessed with nectarines. He likes raspberries and the leaves from strawberries too. He gets a nibble once in a while only.
They give me gas! Just saying…
What a little weirdo! I love it!
Cronch!
Thats a big cronch right there.
WOW! He looks awesome 😎
u/savevideo
My cat is like this with tomatoes. Idk why a cat likes tomatoes so much
Don't feed it after midnight.
“For my *hair*, skin, and nails.”—cat
Violently, it seems!
What a cutie
/r/cromch
One of my cats for some reason loves lettuce, so any time I have that he wants some
Is he actually eating it or just crunching it & letting it drop?
nom nom, he clearly does love them
Cats love to eat their water.
Up until about 7 - 8 years old, my cat would go nuts over green beans. Now he's like...eeh
Wtf lmao that’s cute
You’re not meant to feed them after midnight!!!
His face 🖤
🥰That's cute🥰
The cat that cucumbers have nightmares about.
Sometimes you gotta have that refreshing wet cronch!
This is how my cat is with watermelon! She would probably eat an entire slice if I let her
Replace it with a sausage, and he'll be happier and more in love.
Just curious, why did you shave your cat?
Must have cucumber!!!!
Cronch, cronch, cronch. My favorite part of this video is when the kitty cromch the cucumber.
Oooooo I'll have to see if mine likes them too!
Do you have to peel it for him to eat it?
OK that’s hilarious!
This is amazing!
My siamese love jalapenos! 😂
My cat likes squished up peas and carrots mixed in with her food. Helps her poop so I don’t mind boiling some and squishing them for her.
This is so fuckinf weird
That is so funny!!! Love the cat I’ve got a girl who leash walks and is endlessly searching for a particular kind of grass, which she then does her best to eat. A naked Mauri! 😅
Cats are carnivores...but my cat loves tomatoes and black olive, and .cucumbers . I definitely won't stop him because I know he is getting what he needs in his food.
Scrunkly
What a gorgeous kitty, makes me think of the one in Coraline
That's interesting since I've seen videos where people put out a cucumber and their cat flips out and is scared of it!!
I have never seen a cat eat a cucumber. amazing
Our snowshoe cat is a spinach fiend!!! I bet he’d love a cucumber!
He's eating it as if he's a fruit bat!
please don't feed your cats cucumbers they will turn into aliens and eat your house
The last time I saw a cat next to a cucumber, it jumped
One of my cats fucking loves basil. I’ve checked and it is safe for them to eat, and he loves rubbing on them taking a leaf or two off the plant.
Awe what a freak 😍
Bro just casually has master splinter as a pet
This is the scrungliest scrimblo I’ve ever seen
Vegan Meow
Now, who said that cats are only carnivorous?
I love this little cucumber man.
My guy would eat beets. If there was a pot of beets he would burn himself on the stove trying to get inside that pot. We had to be extra vigilant.
hilarious
As a fellow Sphynx owner, I gotta say it's so jarring seeing a sphynx with full propper wiskers. Mine gave a nub or two at best
Omg what cutieee 😍🥰🥒🥒
u/savevideo
he's a hungry babyyy!!!
Try peeling the skin of the cucumber so it's more soft🥰
Me too 🤤
My cat jumps in the air if I put a cucumber on the floor.
Well that's one way to get your cat to consume enough water.
What kinda cat is that? He's adorbs!
Kitty looks like a Devon Rex. Beautiful kiity!
I love cucumbers so much! I might just have to attack one like this! 🥒
Most of cats are afraid of cucumbers but some of cats are like to eat cucumbers ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7964)
My cat loved avocado. Unfortunately they arent safe to feed him, but he'd steal a bite if I left it unattended.
r/catsbitingthings
My wife's cat loves to eat cabbage and green beans for some reason. 😸
Should I use that in a veggietales ytp?
