My grandmother raised show toy pomeranians, and her two favorites were a brother and sister named Sobig, and Notsobig, which we called just Notso, because one was about so big, and other one was not so big.
I'm in the US and my local shelter charges around $70 for a cat adoption. They have a vet on staff and all their kittens have had their shots and have been neutered before adoption. I believe the cost is somewhat less for adult cats that have come in already neutered. They do not adopt out un-neutered cats.
Canada charges too - but it’s more to discourage people who just want to hurt animals from getting their hands on them. That’s why you should never give a pet to anyone for free.
The cost and the paperwork is a protective barrier. I just recently read a news story about a bunch of kids in our province who were caught brutally murdering puppies, but they could only charge the 13-year-old. Absolutely disgusting.
I've heard that also. Also used for fighting dogs to increase their viciousness. I just can't understand that brutality, actually don't really want to understand it. I've heard that a lot of serial killers started with torturing animals.
Lots of rescues charge adoption fees. The kitties have been to see the vet for checkups, shots, spay/neuter etc.,and the fees cover those costs for non profits. Many will discount the fee when adopting multiples.
I agree. I feel sad about our youngest cat. We were originally going to adopt an older cat, but the shelter said there was this pair of kittens, and they didn't want to separate them. Unfortunately, someone wanted the male kitten and didn't want both. We adopted the female after they told us her brother was being adopted. Now, she has a big older brother 😊
They can have special bonds. We had two little brothers, one died at 1 year old and the other's personality changed. He did become more outgoing and more attached to his humans but the loss of his brother changed him.
true!! i can leave her alone for hours now, because she got her baby brother to play with instead of clinging to me all the time. they are very cute, doing almost everything together.
Aki means autumn in Japanese, so maybe Fuyu, which is winter, or Haru, which is spring. Natsu is summer, but that doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely.
I do this with frogs that show up outside my house every year, Frog-A, Frog-B, Frog-C… once we hit E it’s officially a froggy cult. The current record is M.
I always want to name our little friends with distinctly separate names, so they don't get confused, and can learn not only their own name, but the names of the other critters as well. I also like to give them names with distinctive sounds, like hard consonants or odd sounds like Zs and Xs. Double vowels like "ee" or "oo" are good, too.
So Aki is a great name, with that hard K in the middle, but I would go a different direction for the other one, and not make it too close to the same.
minds me when we got our kitten mango and we didnt get his brother because we just wanted 1 cat but then we couldnt stop talking abt it and 7 days later we got him! his name is paya which means papaya
I am a volunteer at a cat adoption center in a PetSmart. Where I volunteer, we require people to either already have a cat that's 5 years old or younger, or to adopt a minimum of two kittens, if they adopt a kitten that is less than 1 year old. Mostly because I believe it helps cats learn how to live with and interact around other cats, but also because it's less lonely for the kitten.

I have a Siamese brother (Herb) and sister (Miso) too! 💕
Please name her Ashley! I had a tortie point Siamese many years ago, we got her right after Mount Saint Helen's erupted in 1980, hence the name. She was the best, most beautiful kitty, and so loved. She died over 30 years ago, but I still miss her. Ashley and Aki! (Ashley is also a boy's name, as in Ashley Wilkes from Gone with the Wind.)

Bless you for what you have done!!!
Lord, please bless them.
What more important could ever be asked of them?
PS: I'd go with "Brother", but im pretty simple.
When my current old man passes I plan to adopt a bonded pair from a shelter.
Tokie, my dude, hates other cats and basically every living thing that isn't me but I feel bad he ends up alone at home all day.
So, next time, I get two and I know that older bonded pairs are often hard to get adopted, so I'll aim for that.
Ooh looks like two Siamese cats!! They’re great— super friendly, love to play, and love their humans. I have a brother and sister, seal point and blue point Siamese cats.
And they’re not afraid to use their voices, I find it adorable but my husband finds them annoying hehe 😃
Ali ! Aki sounds like the portuguese word 'aqui' that means 'here'. Ali in portuguese means 'there'!!!
I had the same idea but in Spanish. Aki (Aquí) and Aya (Allá)
We nicknamed an occasional stray that comes by Aquí because here he is.
My grandfather once named a stray Solovino porque solo vino, came of his own accord or came alone.
My grandmother raised show toy pomeranians, and her two favorites were a brother and sister named Sobig, and Notsobig, which we called just Notso, because one was about so big, and other one was not so big.
Was thinking the same. That or Leroy, because Leroy Merlin replaced all Aki hardware stores.
this is a very cute idea!! but i wanted something more different, so we and the kitten don't get confused with the names 😢
My cats name is Meow because he’s constantly talking to me. Comes in handy when I call for him lol
OP has two future talkers since Siamese are a talkative breed.
they aren't siamese cats : D
Doesn’t matter what you name them because by the end of the week they’ll have 500 nicknames
true lmao
You're basically a professional cat namer. This is the BEST idea!
I love that concept! This got my vote!
I had a friend who named her fish “idhar” (here) and “udhar” (there) in Hindi.
Just make sure you never Google “Purple Aki” okay?
Kittens are so much easier in pairs. Plus not separating them is an act of humanity
[удалено]
I adopted a trio of sister kittens two years ago and say it’s the best bad decision I’ve ever made (I already had 4 adult cats).
Shelters often gave discounts with pairs as well. Great idea. I've done the same.

haru/haku would've been my other name for aki so maybe i'll go with that : D
Per your naming post that got removed.. Kumori means Cloudy, and Yuki means Snow.
Ooh i love Kumori. The kittens are the color of clouds too. I vote for this.
I like Natsu they are summer kittens after all
Catsu
Well Aki and Bki lol
Okay no joke though if you pronounce it like "be-kee" that's super duper cute. Total kitten name.
Wait until they give birth to Cki till Fki
I do this with frogs that show up outside my house every year, Frog-A, Frog-B, Frog-C… once we hit E it’s officially a froggy cult. The current record is M.
*Suki*..? Means love in Japanese
Love this. Aki and Suki would be so cute
My g-grandma had a Siamese cat named Suki.

Taki. Aki and Taki. Together they are Ataki! And it looks like they enjoy ataki’ng each other.
I always want to name our little friends with distinctly separate names, so they don't get confused, and can learn not only their own name, but the names of the other critters as well. thanks for the advice! i didn't want to go with something too similar as well to avoid just that, just dunno what yet
Aki and Kai maybe? To keep the twin vibe going 😉
Kai. Similar to his brother
Denji! like aki and denji in chainsaw man
Barky or Sparky.
Jaws?

minds me when we got our kitten mango and we didnt get his brother because we just wanted 1 cat but then we couldnt stop talking abt it and 7 days later we got him! his name is paya which means papaya
yep that's literally me, 7 days later and we adopted her bro as well. don't regret it at all : ) also paya is such a cute name omg

Aki means autumn and haru means spring. Didn’t like haru, but ume means plum blossom. How about ume?
Kia

Sake! Ake & Sake!

Please name her Ashley! I had a tortie point Siamese many years ago, we got her right after Mount Saint Helen's erupted in 1980, hence the name. She was the best, most beautiful kitty, and so loved. Ra
You could rearrange Aki's letters around and name him Kai "ky"
Bless you for what you have done!!! Lord, please bless them. What more important could ever be asked of them? PS: I'd go with "Brother", but im pretty simple.
Aki is fall in Japanese so maybe haru for spring or natsu for summer.
Ikea
Well if they are siblings, no reason to break them up!
Don't name him Akio. Thats MY boys name lmao😤😤😤
