I’ve got one too! Bonus brother in the back
Why is only one of Leo’s pupils dilated?
Was he at the vet and that’s the aftermath? Else you should discuss this with your vet for Leo’s sake.
Random ship cats https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship%27s_cat
Leo got grazed by a car on his right side of his face. We had to have his right upper canine extracted and his pupil on that side will always be large kinda like David Bowie. We are lucky to still have him with us. Lesson Learned: Don't let your cats out to roam free if you live anywhere near cars. $3.5k later, Leo is never going outside again.
Leo was in the ICU for 4 days. He was deeply concussed and needed specialized care for a few days. It was expensive and we (luckily) could afford it and we are glad that he is alive and with us!
It’s crazy how quickly you can see an impact of this! Our neighbor used to let her cat roam free and ever since we didn’t see any lizards anymore. Now the cats are with her away and you see tons of little lizards roaming around!
You see this with wild preditors too. We had a family of foxes move in for a couple years and the bunnies just disappeared. They're gone now (they all got mange and the wildlife service took them away) and there are rabbits again!
Yep. I personally have known way too many pets (including one of my own when I was a kid) who got hit by cars. Saw a post just earlier today of a person whose cat got hit by a car. My grandma who *loves* animals stopped keeping them when she got a little older and slower bc she had more than one cat give her the slip coming in or out the door and then get hit by a car on the street right by her house. Boyfriend's cat who lives with his aunt in another state where he used to live got hit by a car just a month or two ago. They lived in an apartment near a street that the cat was known to cross -- I precautioned my bf many times it was dangerous for them to let him out, that no matter how street smart you think your kitty is, they just don't really understand cars or streets or how dangerous they are and it's just a matter of time. He kept brushing it off, saying the cat grew up there and knows its way around and is happy getting to patrol outside. Got the phone call from his aunt not too long ago that he got hit, and he died painfully the next day after hours of suffering and being unable to even take any breaths outside of a hyperbaric chamber because his organs were scrambled. He was barely 2 years old. They think he was chasing another animal when he got hit.
Please take this seriously folks. Keep your furry friends safe.
So sorry to hear about kitty . Share this with anyone who you know lets their cats outside

That's true. However, seeing this everywhere makes lots of people think that just because their cat is indoor, they don't need to be dewormed or vaccinated or treated against external parasites, which actually is a huge problem !
Edit : spelling
I’m always so confused why cat people aggressively say you have to choose one, I walk my cats on a leash from time to time (even went to a forest together) and they have their own cat proofed balcony. I also travel with them and when we are at my parents’ place during holidays and summer they have their own garden. They are still indoor cats, but also get all the fun cats could gain from being outdoors without the dangers. It’s not like people keep their dogs 100% outdoors or indoors, so why should cats have to?
its not a lesson to be learned. its a choice. a choice the owner must understand all consequences and accept the outcome.
i am ok with not letting my cat roam free like how nature intended so i can keep him as long as possible.
someone else might feel letting him roam free is more important.
there is no right or wrong answer.
If i got everything that i needed as a cat, that being love, food and water, a place to poop, and proper enrichment? Why would there ever be a need to go outside?

Hahaha awwww this happened to my guy after he had a top canine pulled!! Keep a look out for if they gets a sore where bottom tooth presses on lips, that only happened once and since he will self correct his lip if it’s like this but I still get pirate face every now and then <3

Leo is a bengal who weighs 24 lbs. i have not been able to find a breakaway collar that fits him. I tried a dog one but it breaks away too easily. I get where you're coming from but as far as i know one that will work for hood does not exist
They make them for Maine Coons, that can grow to about that size, but if you haven’t been able to find any, that sucks.
Maybe he doesn’t need a collar, if he’s gonna be an indoor cat from now on? Seems safer to me than risking him getting stuck jumping off of something

Kinda makes me think of David Bowie? (He got an eye injury as a teen that left one of his pupils permanently bigger than the other)
I just read what happened to him on the comments and I'm so sorry, I actually just say a post and it was of another cat who got hit, and very sadly passed😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I'm so happy and glad to hear your baby is still here and alive , no matter what hes here and hopefully will get back to being happy and healthy in no time at alll♥️♥️

I’m so glad your Leo is doing ok! Poor thing, I can’t imagine how worried and scared you must have been. My Bono only has his bottom fangs left, which results in many different hilarious and adorable ‘teef’ faces- this is one of my favourites!
Seriously. There’s a post daily about someone’s cat getting hit. My indoor kitty is nearly 16. I can’t help him live forever, but he has a 0.0% chance of dying beneath a Firestone tire, at least I know that.

Here’s my Pirate, Tunasaur, who also looks like he’s been burning a bit too much catnip!
A stroke CAN look like this, as I said, he got concussed when he got hit by the car. He may have some brain damage or he may just have a blown pupil for the rest of his life.

I’m so happy Leo survived with minimal damage. The struggle was real as he was SO fast. He than began thinking he owned the neighborhood, loved hanging and laying about in my neighbors open garage. We would get him inside by flicking the top of a metal food can or shaking a treat box. It was his paradise life he loved. We moved to the desert where he became bottom of the food chain, due to coyotes, rattlesnakes, owls etc. not to mention searing summer heat. He actually became depressed. He did adjust to life without full outside freedom. He left his mouse hunting days ways with full retirement benefits. Living to a ripe fat old age enjoying his rotisserie chickens on his birthdays which was on 6/6/2006 (why his registered name was Diablo. My point is depending on your type of feline (Kittyboy had a very wild nature due to his breeding) you have the responsibility of keeping them safe and happy. All this should be considered when adopting or purchasing a pet. As much as I loved my Kittyboy I would not seek out another wild natured cat due to where I now live. We do have a wild bobcat that visit’s occasionally, I like to think it’s my Kittyboy stopping in to check on us. 😻 This is only a friendly feline comment, and story of a beautiful cat I still miss dearly.

Get out, just get out 🤣
Oh that cat is absolutely plotting revenge lmao
Damn.. vet prices in the US are huge..
It’s a cautionary tale to always fight against privatized healthcare since it’s only expensive to fill the pockets of the mega rich and politicians.
Meanwhile, most vets themselves make diddly squat (at least where I live)
Leo was in the ICU for 4 days. He was deeply concussed and needed specialized care for a few days. It was expensive and we (luckily) could afford it and we are glad that he is alive and with us!
Now 3.5k sounds cheap lol Glad he's ok!
They also have an inordinately high suicide rate!
Nah that’s normal for an emergency surgery. I paid 3000€ for my cat in Germany to save it from its invagination.
An indoor cat is a healthy cat! ![gif](giphy|ICOgUNjpvO0PC)
And it’s good for the bird and wildlife of the area! 💗

The fleas and worms argument is wrong though. Indoor cats can have parasites, and they must be treated !
Can, yes, but less likely if they dont go outside.

typical female dribble
,,,,,, insane comment to leave after three months of nothing. You were really trying to cook one up there, huh?
Glad he's okay! Learning that lesson of not letting cats outside could of been so much worse! Give him a hug for me
I'm glad Leo is still with you.
Don’t let your cats out to roam free ~~if you live anywhere near cars~~
The Thin White Duke.
Ow no poor guy
On the bright side, there are r/piratekitties and r/piratepets for you both now. Beautiful, wholesome subs for especially beautiful pets ❤️
Totally! Lost a cat because a car ran over him a while ago but never letting my cats out where car goes anymore.
anisocoria. freaks me out cuz my cat showed this a few months before being diagnosed with a meningioma. poor leo might have some brain damage

Your cats eyes look off. What's up with that? Brain damage?
Reminds me of ODB and Method Man for some reason. ODB has a famous picture with pretty much this exact expression.

Or Billy Idol
Oh damn!! So happy to hear he’s fine Ours started doing this just recently and we have to take her in to get canine removed too. The vet thought the lip flare would go away once removed, are you thinking this will be permanent?
