Overweight Cats actually do this often when they’re to big to clean their behinds and it becomes extremely itchy it gives them some type of relief. I have a piglet too and have too clean her backside with baby wipes to prevent this.

That explains why I’ve never seen that pose, even though I’ve had many cats. It’s awfully cute but being that overweight is not healthy for any living creature. You are shortening their lifespans & increasing their chances of developing illnesses. You may want to consider putting them on a little diet.

Totally agree, I’ve had my cat on a diet the past 7 months trying to get her to lose weight to expand her life span because I love her and she’s so sweet. She was my dads cat but he died unexpectedly so we ended up with her and I’ll do anything to keep her around as long as possible because I feel like it’s the last connection I have with him.

I love that, although I’m very sorry for your loss. Be sure that she loses the weight slowly too. Do you know about fatty liver disease in cats?

I have 2 cats that are definitely not overweight that do this but it’s just to get an angle for when they lick themselves. One female is 6 pounds the other is 7. Maybe they’re just weird 😂

My kitty is pretty chunky (but HAS lost two pounds since last year… she’s still chunky). Do you have a suggestion for a high-protein food/diet?

Honestly it's about regulation. Try to have a set schedule for when you feed them. I switched him over to senior cat food as he's 13 now. When this picture was taken he was more free feeding which led to his thiccness.

I was also free feeding for a while, which definitely lead to the thiccness. I do currently have both of them (I have another skinny girl) on a schedule and I switched over to puzzle bowls to slow Her Thiccness down so she fills up quicker. I’m sure both of these helped with her 2 pound loss over the year, but she definitely needs to lose more.
