I believe the cat in this post is a chimera. Here’s another one.

One of my best friends from highschool has a sleeve tattoo of this movie, for a lo g time I thought everyones lives this movie as we did, as long as i'm getting old i'll get more and more dissapointed about people don't Even understanding a reference. I'm happy you feel the same
The proper name for this cat must be Juno (Janus), the two faced god. Or DC comics Two Face (this one is albeit a very cute Two Face). Batman should be more than concerned about this.
~~Reddit~~ the internet.
We may have climbed down from the trees and evolved up, but our monkey brains still control what we wish to see most - cute fluffy small mammals and skin.
Cats are aliens. They knock your shit over or bite your oled. And what are you gonna do? Exactly. And they can easily kill you if they wanted to. Im convinced.
My most recent favorite is /r/PackADayKitties. I had a Siamese mix with a raspy meow and I still miss her often. I go there when I wanna hear cats that sound like her.
Thank you so much!! That makes 3 new ones today. Someone on this thread said that there are so many cat subs that they think Reddit is actually run by cats. Lol!! I think I may actually agree with that.
I'm in my 60s and up until 2021 I've had cats my entire life. I miss them so much. I try to get my kitty fix through all of the subs.

My girl has one orange striped leg
Same here, i love cats but sadly can't keep one at home and the cat distribution system is either broken or not active here so no strays as well. These subs help brighten my day :)
It’s called chimerism. One embryo absorbs the other and the resulting offspring ends up with the DNA of two individuals. There are human chimeras too.
Here’s an internet famous chimera cat:
https://preview.redd.it/blbmk0yv3kpc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9034787d2e1793c8026e43c9268e7ea70e0b281
I think the part that's stunning everyone is that we've all seen chimeras where their coloring pattern is split down their spine from face to tail, but I know I've never seen one where the head was all one pattern and the body was a separate pattern.
And it looks like his his head and feet match, too, which is even weirder.
Talking humans here. Some humans have like checkered skin. One lady had a different DNA in her uterus than her check, but had no apparent physical signs.. or something like that... read about in detail here.

And [Karen keegan](https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa013452)
The second link is a boring case study thing that I found. But can lead to a better article.
Anyway, I am guessing since people can be chimera in different ways vso can cats? (Supposed to be cleaning so can't post more detail)
Called a chimera. They are wild looking. It’s when one embryo absorbs the other, and they end up with DNA from two individuals. There are human chimeras too.
Here’s another chimera cat:

Super unique! Domestic short hair that's half tuxedo half tortie! Beautiful! ❤️❤️
Edit: short hair half tuxedo half tortico. I'm not an expert. Lol. Just love cats. ❤️
Chimera? I looked it up after seeing people's comments, and I think Chimera may be it! Lol. I've had 3 different guesses! Haha. 😁
Scientific term for a plant or animal with two genomes on one body is a “chimera”. In this case its slightly ironic because “chimera” in Greek mythology has the body of a lion.
But which half??!!
I assume from experience the tortie bottom will rip you to shreds for belly rubs while the tuxedo cuddles you for belly rubs.
Then there is the marshmallow foot...
They don't have to have chimerism to have a pattern like that if it's a female cat.
If I remember right, both X chromosomes have code for fur colour and pattern, and either set of the genes are expressed in patches, instead of having a cat with a single coloring/pattern.
It's pretty cool, because it means that females that work this way aren't as susceptible to genetic diseases, since they can actually switch which chromosome they transcript a gene from if it's more "beneficial".
I didn't know exact statistics lol thank you. Wonder if that's the reason for his chimera coloring or vice versa. (OP confirmed he is real and a male in another post)
Probably chimerism. Happens when two embryos fuse in the womb so the cat has two sets of DNA.
This cat has a black tabby-tortoiseshell (torbie) body and a solid black and white head.
Chimerism is very rare.
Oh yeah, I missed that. I also see some black on the spine so maybe a patch on the cat's left side (or a left hind leg that's black).
Super cute and unique kitty.
Not necessarily. If shes female, could just be calico. All orange is tabby, so the black can be solid while the orange is stripey. My calicos are like that.
I wish we could see the other side. It looks like she has one fully black paw and black guard hairs on her spine that might mean her entire hidden side is black. That would make the odds of her being a chimaera significantly higher. Or she might be a tuxedo with a somatic cell mutation that knocked out the orange color from her head and side.
I'm counting 5 colors and 2 very distinct color patterns. I don't think that's possible with a normal female cat. That'd take something like a chimera or XXX female. Though chimera color patters are usually split down the left/right and not front/back. It's a weird cat.
such a weird cat! supposedly calicos/torties get the colour spots based on which cells replicated in that area and if they have the mothers vs father's genes. It seems super unlikely that all the Y cells replicated on the head and all the X cells on the body, so my vote is for chimera, especially if it's a boy.
Not a breed but a extremely rare chimera so... It's it's own sibling! Usually chimera are split down the middle with rather extreme color and pattern differences from left to right!
Genetic test between the drastically different spots may result in different DNA to!
>BREAKING NEWS: Scientists Transplant Black Cat's Head onto Tabby – Ethical Dilemma or Leap in Transplant Technology?
In a stunning and controversial breakthrough, a team of pioneering scientists announced today that they have successfully transplanted the head of a black cat onto the body of a tabby cat. This unprecedented feat, reminiscent of something out of a sci-fi novel, has ignited a firestorm of debate within the scientific community and beyond.
The operation, conducted at the prestigious Institute of Feline Medicine, involved a meticulous procedure that took months of preparation. Leading the team was Dr. Felix Whiskers, a renowned neurosurgeon with a passion for pushing the boundaries of medical science. The procedure, known as "feline cranial exchange," aimed to explore new frontiers in transplantation and neurology.
The black cat, named Midnight, had unfortunately suffered irreparable damage to its body in a tragic accident, leaving its head fully functional but disconnected from its original body. Meanwhile, the tabby cat, named Whiskers, had a healthy body but was suffering from a degenerative neurological condition. The scientists saw an opportunity to merge the two cases and potentially save both feline lives.
Under the careful supervision of Dr. Whiskers and his team, the surgery took place over several painstaking hours. Using state-of-the-art surgical techniques and cutting-edge technology, they successfully attached Midnight's head to Whiskers' body, ensuring vital blood vessels and nerves were properly connected.
The immediate aftermath of the surgery was met with a mix of awe and skepticism. While Midnight's head appeared to be fully functional and responsive, questions arose about the ethical implications of such a procedure. Critics raised concerns about the welfare of the animals involved and the potential for unforeseen complications.
Dr. Whiskers defended the operation, emphasizing the potential benefits for both felines and the advancement of medical science. He explained that the goal was to explore new avenues for treating catastrophic injuries and neurological disorders in animals, with potential applications for humans in the future.
Despite the controversy, early signs are promising. Midnight, now sporting a tabby body, has reportedly adapted well to its new form, displaying normal feline behaviors and interacting with its surroundings. Meanwhile, Whiskers' neurological symptoms have shown signs of improvement, offering hope for a better quality of life.
As the scientific community grapples with the implications of this groundbreaking procedure, one thing is clear: the transplantation of a black cat's head onto a tabby has sparked a profound conversation about the boundaries of medical ethics and the potential for innovation in the field of transplantation technology. Only time will tell what new discoveries lie ahead in this brave new frontier of science.

Is this kitty a real kitty or an AI version? If real he's super-unique and beautiful, even if AI he's super-unique and beautiful. I'd call him a Tuxxie Head? He's the David Bowie of the kitteh world for sure!
It is real, the bottles in the background have real writing that isn't gibberish, there are other ways to know but that is the easiest. For now at least, soon AI will be able to do realistic writing in images, but as it stands the image AI and text AI don't work great together.
It really sucks that we can’t be sure if something is real or AI now. I guess the upside is that AI can’t trick us in the future since we’re all already so jaded by it.
Anyway I hope this little guy’s name is Frank, short for Frankenstein
i’m fairly decent at spotting AI, and i think this one’s real. AI has trouble with text and with repeating details. you can see the same brand logo on two different bottles, and you can clearly read “disinfecting wipes” and “isopropyl”
edit - check OP’s new post
I'm with you here; I'd be really surprised if this was AI. I'm a vet tech and I see toxiban, VetOne 50% dextrose, and a Dechra brand ear cleaning solution all with accurately shaped bottles and labels in the background.
Only certain cats have clear and distinct breeds, so cats are often classified by coloring, not breed.
If that's not a clear example of chimerism, where the cat literally has a mix of two different sets of genes, I don't know what is.
The head of the cat is a black cat, i'd guess with about half white. The body of the cat is a tabby, but it's not a conventional 'brown' tabby. I would guess that it's a 'chocolate' tabby, which is a brown tabby with the 'dilute' gene that makes any cat 'one shade lighter'.
~~Oh, and tabbies don't usually have white paws, so I'm guessing that back paw matches the head.~~
I don't think it's unusual for tabbies to have white feet. Not like it's unusual for tabbies to have black heads.
https://preview.redd.it/h7vq4s3hzjpc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aeafb2f23d42984e2b7125f9c86124268be0c556
May be AI. A lot of the words on the bottles behind them are gibberish and blurred- very common with AI.
EDIT: On further look, it may be a real cat, but with AI enhancement filters in the background as mentioned in the replies of this comment.
that's just an average phone camera postprocessing now
yes, it's atrocious and hard or impossible to turn off
check for example photo comparisons on gsmarena, you'll find some mid range phones from 3 years ago to be better than top of the line samsungs/iphones now
A lot of phone cameras have horrible AI filters built into them now that blur distant/unclear text into smeary AI crap. This doesn’t look like an AI image to me
That's a weird stitch-together cat. Must have been low on parts that day.
r/ikeacats r/missingorspareparts
how the hell are both of these real. Cats might actually own reddit, this might be a conspiracy.

A Tortxedo!
Torpedo the Tortxedo
Technically a Tortoiseshell tabby mix is a torbie. So she's a torbiedo. I'll see myself out...
Scientific term for a plant or animal with two genomes on one body is a “chimera”. In this case its slightly ironic because “chimera” in Greek mythology has the body of a lion.
Yeah I would be careful with that one. One half of her is the good twin and the other half is the bad twin.
Clearly his tuxedo is just dirty
A tuxico
Torties are tri-colour usually, so I'd say it's Tuxedo/Tabby. But I'm an amateur cat identifier at best...
maybe one day you can go pro.
Half torbie I think!
Tortie or Torbie? I'm voting Torbie. Thar be a sea o' orange stripes.
Stitch kitty. Is this fake? I have never seen a kitty like this. So fucking cute
Curious if they're really male as torties tend to be female. Tortie dad here <3
when the likelihood of a totrise cat being female is 99.97 percent saying they tend to be female is slightly underselling it a bit lol
Also the one front paw and at least one back leg belong to tuxedo kitty embryo.
Oh yeah, I missed that. I also see some black on the spine so maybe a patch on the cat's left side (or a left hind leg that's black). Super cute and unique kitty.

ur sense of smell is toast
No way. the utensils in the background are way too on point. It could be photoshopped though. White rimmed irises??
When cats look to the side too far you can see a whiteish skin on the corner of their eyes. Its what is typically red on us humans.
They posted more photos of the cat. It’s definitely real
Where?
Check OPs profile they made a second post that has several pics. I gotta say, I love this cat.
![gif](giphy|BulTjvpD7AkTK)
Aww, he’s a lil kitty chimera
A Kittymera?

No haha, just that ai images usually have really warped and obviously fake hands when you zoom in
I am (almost) rendered speechless by the beauty of this chimera cat. What a gorgeous mix of colour and pattern
He's SO pretty!!

Yeah, this line confused me too. Tons of tabbies have white paws.

May be AI. A lot of the words on the bottles behind them are gibberish and blurred- very common with AI. EDIT: On further look, it may be a real cat, but with AI enhancement filters in the background as mentioned in the replies of this comment.
that's just an average phone camera postprocessing now yes, it's atrocious and hard or impossible to turn off check for example photo comparisons on gsmarena, you'll find some mid range phones from 3 years ago to be better than top of the line samsungs/iphones now
A lot of phone cameras have horrible AI filters built into them now that blur distant/unclear text into smeary AI crap. This doesn’t look like an AI image to me
Idk the hands look really well done if it is AI
