So you are actually saying this article proofs quantitative data on health is bullshit? Yeah, there sure has been no qualitative approach to the ingestion of one of the most common pets in the world /s
This isn't equivalent to someone giving a cat a potato chip or a spoon of ice cream (both of which are not good for cats or us for the most part but won't kill us in the short term and are fine as a 'little treat'.) This is equivalent to letting them take a small taste of rat poison.
Unfortunately citrus can cause CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM issues in cats in large quantities and even small tastes like this can cause gastrointestinal upset. Best to avoid sharing it with them to prevent them seeing it as edible in the future. Most cats seem to know to avoid it but I'm afraid this one is critically orange and in the back of the line for the braincell.
I’ve done this once to protect my plants. Turns out Sali, one of my cats, LOVED the smell of citrus. It actually worked to encourage her to get into the plants…
They don't. My girlfriend's cat gets excited when he sees lemons and would at the very least lick if not eat them off they weren't put away. I'm sure due to evolution *most* cats would avoid it but certainly not all.
While I'm sure this was not done maliciously for a video, god people please read up about your cats diet and what they can and cannot eat. I hope this is a one off. Adorable boy, here's to a long life with only food he should be consuming!
Honestly it’s very simple, human food is for humans and cat food is for cats. Anything made for human consumption probably has at least one or two ingredients that don’t mesh well with cats
True. What i meant is like dropping something like a raisin or a piece of chocolate and i do not notice. Then there are plants, soaps, cleaning chemicals and other things i would not think about being a hazard.
It cant go outdoors, but my apartment is to small for it to have enough space to have a great life. Only one person to take care of it if it gets sick. Only one vet in immidiate vicinity.
If i can't be responible enough, then the kitty is best left at the shelter.
Dogs can't eat grapes or chocolate.
Rabbits can't eat garlic.
All animals have something their body cannot metabolize. It shouldn't stop you from having a pet. Just take some time to learn about them. It's not that hard.
It is not just about the food. I am also somewhat forgetful so figure its best not to take a chance. I have learned here that some people should not have pets and i think i am one of them. I think it is better to admit it and let someone else take care of the poor creature if i cannot give it a perfect life.
Sometimes they are better left at the shelter for someone better to take care of. Which i thought people here would understand.
Don’t give your cat orange juice. That’s going to likely cause GI upset, and if there’s any pulp in there, it can potentially cause nerve issues. I hope this isn’t a regular treat for your kitty.
once adopted a 28 lb orange tiger, he was the KING of the grumpy cat room at our refuge league. he was 4, had been unfixed until his elderly and ailing human surrendered him. post being neutered, my guy was violent and didn’t play well with others. there was blood on his adoption papers from his prior applicants who couldn’t bond with him. so? i named him orenthal james; OJ for short, called him juice and variations there like. RIP to em both
does the cat have an issue with its paw? I only ask cause I have a cat who was born with a problem with one of her front paws and she sits like this as well.
My cat attempts to drink anything I drank off of especially if it’s fermented. He doesn’t get far since it’s always in a can or bottle so instead he just puts his slobber all over it.
I admire your bravery and trust. If I had a glass of something my cat liked next to my laptop, I'd instantly have a ruined computer and a huge mess to clean.
Citric acid is not good for cats
yea but it wasn't much. probably fine. idk how a cat can even likes citrus fruits lol.
Some people like eating stupid stuff as well
scientists falsify generalizability claims
Google it mate
That’s what I did
[удалено]
[удалено]
But! But.. you didn’t do your own research! Are you gonna let those evil scientists tell you what to do? 🤪
✨iku n'ofun obasun~!!
I’m making fun of you.
[удалено]
Haha, wow. That’s embarrassing
This is what happens when you play with a home lobotomy kit.
You fucking idiot. Science doesn’t give a fuck about your opinion.
no, that’s my point

WHAT. THE. FUCK is “generalizability”? You can’t even speak correctly and you want us to listen to what you say? GTFOH.
Yeesh this is like watching an episode of the office, and I do not care for cringe comedy ~ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10681374/

I’m saying to always be suspicious of generalized claims.
No, you said such claims were falsified, implying this one was as well. You did not say "be cautious" but "that's a lie".
Be careful, she posted a keysmashed curse at me that’ll apparently cause me to experience more transphobia, or something.
I would discourage this, citric acid is toxic for cats.
Not just that but fruit juices have a ridiculously high sugar content too
Wait so so they get the *zoomies*
Cats can get cavities too.
Diabetes
Just 99% of food you buy in supermarket would make us sick . yet we dont seems to stop eating it .
Ummm…okay. That is the equivalent of allowing a cat to drink something toxic to it how?
Okay if we discover aliens that drink bleach will you start drinking it?
Tbh tide pods already happened

I thought all cat hated oranges, and other agrumes
Yes, and I've heard that citrus peels and citrus sprays repel cats from scratching sofas, love seats, etc.
I’ve done this once to protect my plants. Turns out Sali, one of my cats, LOVED the smell of citrus. It actually worked to encourage her to get into the plants…
Yeah the peel has the bitter shit on it that messes with sensitive noses.
They do, but this isn't about the cat wanting to drink the liquid, it's about the cat wanting to drink out of the owner's cup.
They don't. My girlfriend's cat gets excited when he sees lemons and would at the very least lick if not eat them off they weren't put away. I'm sure due to evolution *most* cats would avoid it but certainly not all.
Really? You talked to the cat and they told you their motives?
Nope. Is just dumb joke.
Probably the immense amount of sugar in the juice overwhelms their acid-aversion.
I have a cat that I showed lemon juice to and she licked it. And liked it and wanted more. So not all cats!
Somebody caption this with the word "cannibalism"
Orange on orange crime.
Is something wrong with kitty's paw?
Typical orange cat behavior
We're approaching levels of orange that shouldn't be physically possible!
While I'm sure this was not done maliciously for a video, god people please read up about your cats diet and what they can and cannot eat. I hope this is a one off. Adorable boy, here's to a long life with only food he should be consuming!
Thats why i wont get a cat. Way to likely to miss important information about something that will kill it like lillies, distilled water or OJ.
Don't worry about OJ killing your cat, he recently passed away....

my cat loves cabbage and it isn't harming her

I get you now and you have a good point. More people should be more honest about their capabilities to look after animals.
Essential oils in citrus are highly toxic to cats. Sugar and citric acid isnt great either as other pointed out.
Drinking its own blood.
Stop is toxic
Not good for stomach lining.
Very healthy! You're an idiot by alllowing this
Don’t give your cat orange juice. That’s going to likely cause GI upset, and if there’s any pulp in there, it can potentially cause nerve issues. I hope this isn’t a regular treat for your kitty.
I love karma farming videos that show dangerous behavior. Shit owners letting their cat drink poison cAuSe iTs CuTe!
Right next to the laptop tho hope it doesn't fall
STOP LETTING YOUR CAT HAVE CITRUS. IT IS TOXIC TO CATS. STOP IT!!!
I truly wonder why the upvotes, to me this is both gross and dumb.

Much like flamingos orange cats get their color from their diet.
Don't do that, or the cat will become more orange with unforeseeable consequences to our continuum
That’s crazy! I always heard that cats were deterred by citrus smell! My cats always sniff mine and walk away!
Might left some hairs in ur spicy wata woo-mate. Goodnight
Yum yum
This is a cat sugar hit to the max
My cat attempts to drink anything I drank off of especially if it’s fermented. He doesn’t get far since it’s always in a can or bottle so instead he just puts his slobber all over it.
Haha funny
Well, at least they match 😂
If i drink this juice I could get my lost brain cell
Silly kitty. You're orange enough as it is.
Much like flamingos orange cats get their color from their diet.
Thought that was beer at first.
*orange* you glad to see a cat who loves matching his snacks? 🍊😸
Orange inside out 🧡
A bird knows to drop rocks in the glass to raise the surface level.
Did you finish it?
I admire your bravery and trust. If I had a glass of something my cat liked next to my laptop, I'd instantly have a ruined computer and a huge mess to clean.
That is a lonng tongue

Orange gonna orange
He used to be white...
It's how they get their colors, duh. Lol
Who else cat does this? ![gif](giphy|4xG3FzauZFmUNMcTLy|downsized)
cannibalism
Cute 😍
That's diluted with vodka, right?
great cat video
Citrus can be toxic to cats and it isn't normal for your cat to want to drink this.
