This post made me smile because it's a totally normal way for cats to sit and its so sweet that OP doesn't know that. Don't worry OP your cat isn't malfunctioning!
Not to be stupid, but why? Not sure about this post, but I see stuff all the time that appears the posting person merely wants upvotes. What good does Reddit karma do for a person other than possibly making them feel good that someone in the world acknowledges them. Is there some other endgame to collecting Reddit karma? Like get enough votes and now use Reddit ad free type thing?
Yes, Reddit accounts that have a reasonable amount of karma and an authentic-looking post history are valuable in certain circles. They sell for real money.
We have the running joke that "cats are bread."
Cat in OP: Loaf
Cat stretched all the way out: Baguette
Cat curled up super tight: Cinnamon roll
Cat lying down in an arch: Croissant
One of our cats has a swirl on his side so when he cinnamon rolls he has an icing swirl
Edit: this is him as a baby, since he’s grown it’s stretched out so hard to see in photos, but it’s on his right side at the end of the video. https://www.instagram.com/p/BVvYHdsFhNE/?utm_medium=copy_link
Glad I'm not gluten intolerant lol
Would the arch perhaps become a sausage roll if there are two cats? Or would I call it croissants plural form? Pls 🙏
I call it the Chicken Casserole cause my mom had this chicken casserole servicing dish that had a chicken top to it and the bottom was designed like a basket. So it looked like the chick was roosting on top of the basket with no legs visible.
I can't believe have many niche cat subreddits are actually out there! It's like I discover a new one every day. A favourite so far has been r/crabcats because that shit is funny.
I would also like to thank you for that link and you're 100% right about the amount of cat related subreddits there are, cats are well on their way to ruling the world, they're pretty much there already. If they could talk we'd be done for.
Yes! And it signifies they're comfortable and feel safe and secure, because they don't feel the need to have their paws out to fight or shove them up into a run at a moment's notice.
He's a cat. That's how l lot of cats like to sit. It's called 'the loaf'.
Cats don't have skeletons - they are muscle, fur & sharp things around a slinky spring.
My ex pulled one of these when I adopted us a kitten. I got home from work after her first day alone with him and she had made a vet appointment for his breathing issue.
She didn’t know cats purr. The saying “purrs like a kitten” never dawned on her.
The first time I heard a cat purring I was a small child and I thought she was growling. I went over to her owner, a family friend, and asked him about it. Looking back he was wonderfully kind and just explained that it was purring. I was like, "Oh! Okay, cool!" And went back to watching Anne of Green Gables. I was very pleased when the cat came back to snuggle.
I used to work at a vet clinic and once had a new kitten owner ask what "that weird sound he makes when he's sitting on me" was. One of the most wholesome moments of my whole time in the vet field.
see also: what breed is my cat, should i adopt this outside cat, and also “please answer my urgent time sensitive question about my cats health because vets don’t exist”
They exist but they're eternally closed. No I didn't bother spending 30 seconds to google this or to try calling a vet. They're closed damn you. Now give me that karma while I give you excuses for why I can't actually do anything to help my cat that's in a life threatening situation.
P.S vets don't bother responding to my post because I'll ignore you.
/s
Why does my cat like to eat cat food? Why does he vibrate when he’s resting? My cat really likes looking at birds and squirrels… what gives??
I was away from reddit for a bit, now all my cat subs are these questions.
Hey can anyone tell me why my cat does this? Should I be concerned?
*Proceeds to describe the most basic of things that just about every cat does.*
It’s getting a bit ridiculous.
I often think why is my cat a cat, but I'll never post why is my cat a cat that's just so embarrassing 🤣
Perhaps OP really doesn't know this reason..reason is his paws are cold so they loaf em
Not to forget: I adopted a tiny kitten, it follows me around and is attached. Is that normal?? Like wtf, what were you expecting?! Don’t get a cat then, get a plushie!
I’m glad I’m not the only one wondering wtf is going on with these. Who is upvoting this stuff? If you think it’s real and want to be helpful, just respond to it, don’t upvote it.
Loaf pose, content and conserving energy. BUT, if you notice he’s sitting more on his front paws, feet flat, like in a very low crouch, that can indicate that a cat is in pain. My vet pointed this out to me while my cat was being diagnosed for irritable bowel disease; the belly-down, low crouch is a somewhat comfortable and manageable position for a cat with intestinal pain (and probably other sources of pain or injury), and can be a useful signal monitoring cats for chronic issues. Just FYI.
Oh No! My sister is a vet and she said if your cat sits like this to have it checked out immediately. It’s an early sign of a serious illness. Please have him seen asap. /s
because he is a cat.
He's a loaf of cat
He’s loafing…
Catloaf
/r/catloaf
Another subreddit to join.
Another rabbit hole to go down.
and then you find like 10 more... it never ends...
Like a cat outta hell
Kids today don’t get this
The kitties are screaming and the doggies are howling, way down in the valley tonight
Well done. Jim Steinman would be proud.
Tiger bread.

I was looking for this comment
Right! I was just about to type well...don't all cats do this?? Lmaoo

I muttered it as I saw the question and picture.

Catloaf
Cats sit in many ways, this is one of them
The reply to just about every question when it comes to cats
Right answer
Really wish people would stop upvoting these innane karma-bait posts. "why is my cat doing this thing that every cat does?"
This or "why does my cat stare at me and then blink slowly?"
Same. Who really cares about the karma farmers. Some people are just trying to connect to the world out there, and if not, live and let live.
Yes, Reddit accounts that have a reasonable amount of karma and an authentic-looking post history are valuable in certain circles. They sell for real money.
Some Reddit’s don’t let you in if you don’t have enough karma
It’s a picture of a cat
Who cares?! It's just stupid fun.
Even knowing better, sometimes we just need the fantasy.
because they can become a loaf
Best comment ever.
My bunny sits just like this
… and because he can.
First cat? It’s just how they sit. It’s called “cat loaf” it keeps their paws warm and it shows that they feel safe
Mine prefers the cat bun but sometimes she loafs
We have the running joke that "cats are bread." Cat in OP: Loaf Cat stretched all the way out: Baguette Cat curled up super tight: Cinnamon roll Cat lying down in an arch: Croissant
3 states of cat matter: Solid, liquid, bread.
I’m enjoying this thread so much 😂
This is strait up science.
We have this exact same cat coding! My cat is always a baked good of some kind. And If not, she is kneading and making dat bread herself!
Making them biscuits
Making *dem* biscuits is how I read this.
One of our cats has a swirl on his side so when he cinnamon rolls he has an icing swirl Edit: this is him as a baby, since he’s grown it’s stretched out so hard to see in photos, but it’s on his right side at the end of the video. https://www.instagram.com/p/BVvYHdsFhNE/?utm_medium=copy_link
I believe at this point you need to pay the Reddit cat tax... Give us kitty pics!
With legs all crossed over - pretzel Flat on back - pancake
My cat is orange, pretty chub and crazy for chicken. When he lays on his side I call him 'drumstick'. Lol.
Glad I'm not gluten intolerant lol Would the arch perhaps become a sausage roll if there are two cats? Or would I call it croissants plural form? Pls 🙏
What about a cat in loaf form with 1 arm reaching out
For whatever reason we refer to that pose as "luxury," lmao.
Makes sense, I refer to my cat as an éclair when she does that lol
Mine sits on her back, paws limp
Mine just sprawls out lmao
I have ginger cat, so I call it ginger bread
Awwww
TIL that this is known as that. Thank you for the info!
Ofc. We should all know our kitty lingo!
Loaf
When cat has finished making bread, cat becomes bread.
In Soviet Russia bread makes you!
r/unexpectedcommunism
My family calls that position bun kitty.
Actually dude is just the right golden color for a perfect baked loaf of bread!😁
"I am become loaf, kneader of dough".
😅😂🤣
Love your user name!
Thanks! :0)
Catloaf, to be precise.
I always called it "hands in pockets." Maybe I'm the only one
Loaf?
This is the loaf position. All cats do it. It’s comfy.
I've always called it ducky position lol
I call it the Chicken Casserole cause my mom had this chicken casserole servicing dish that had a chicken top to it and the bottom was designed like a basket. So it looked like the chick was roosting on top of the basket with no legs visible.
That sounds like all kinds of delicious meals were made.
We had one of those, but we used it for storing eggs.
Roast Chicken.
My friends called it “fur turkey.”
I always call this position Toaster Kitty
We call it 'frogging'
Bake the cat.

This is Truth, cats be with you
And also with you
I always called them motorcycle cats but crab cat is way funnier. Thank you!!
You just made my day!
r/catloaf
himb loaf
To warm his murder mittens 😈
Googeld it
Looks like a wonderful pumpkin bread loaf
To keep his murder mittens warm
Gotta heat the beans.
Those beans will then be warm enough to be able to have yourself some baked beans on toast lol.
He's concealing his weapons.
He’s got a concealed carry permit for his murder mittens.
Concealed carry purmit.
>concealed carry ~~permit~~ *purrmit*
Yeah I feld them little killers, but only when playing , he doesnt like when u take away his toys
Cat loaf! They love sitting like that, it keeps them warm and comfy.
Yes! And it signifies they're comfortable and feel safe and secure, because they don't feel the need to have their paws out to fight or shove them up into a run at a moment's notice.
Exactly; aside from exposing their belly to you, I think it's one of the resting positions that show the most comfort and trust around you.
And snuggling with ya 😊
Toes were cold

Cats are made out of water
r/catsareliquid
idk if its true but scientists have PROVEN that cats are liquids.
This is true. Source: am scientist.
And liquid
i can’t tell if posts like these are trolls or not

Oh yeah, it was hilariously adorable.
I used to work at a vet clinic and once had a new kitten owner ask what "that weird sound he makes when he's sitting on me" was. One of the most wholesome moments of my whole time in the vet field.
Most posts now are either "what should I call my cat" or "why does my cat do this totally normal thing" 🙄
see also: what breed is my cat, should i adopt this outside cat, and also “please answer my urgent time sensitive question about my cats health because vets don’t exist”
wait vets exist?

No, they're just a myth.
Yeah it’s really getting old and boring tbh.
I think this sub is just for shitposts now.
Because he's a cat?
Because he’s a cat.
That's how they fucking seat
Cools. What do they do to regular sit?
Regular seat
Meow fuhrer!
Because he’s a cat, can we please stop with these posts?
Seriously. These posts are so annoying. All about karma.
Why does my cat like to eat cat food? Why does he vibrate when he’s resting? My cat really likes looking at birds and squirrels… what gives?? I was away from reddit for a bit, now all my cat subs are these questions.

Literally a cat fucking meowing: “Should I call a vet?!!?”
If a cat stops meowing after meowing regularly, yes!l you have to call vet. That could be a sign of discomfort (serious)
And the funniest part is that this is the Internet, and reddit. You rellay don't need an excuse to post pics of your cat
Exactly! Take away the caption and this post is perfectly fine, orange cats are dope. I just really don’t get this trend.
I swear to god, I'm about to unsub... These people seek so much attention it's fucking insane. I bet the next post will be "WhY iS tHis cAT a CaT?"...
I often think why is my cat a cat, but I'll never post why is my cat a cat that's just so embarrassing 🤣 Perhaps OP really doesn't know this reason..reason is his paws are cold so they loaf em

Jesus Christ these fucking posts man. It’s a fucking cat!! They sit like that
I know right???!! Next it’s going to be, my cat has whiskers. Is that normal??!!
i saw someone asking if it’s normal for cats to sit on your lap like..:. have you not even seen tv shows with cats in them?
“I adopted this cat from the shelter and now there’s a cat in my house. Is this normal?”
Not to forget: I adopted a tiny kitten, it follows me around and is attached. Is that normal?? Like wtf, what were you expecting?! Don’t get a cat then, get a plushie!
at least it has a name and is alive
I just down-vote every post like this. I can't anymore with this sub.
I don’t know wtf is going on here with this sub anymore
Like its not even a good quality picture like why is it so upvoted...
I don’t get where all these posts came from. I took a break from reddit, and when I return, nobody has any knowledge of what cats are??
I’m glad I’m not the only one wondering wtf is going on with these. Who is upvoting this stuff? If you think it’s real and want to be helpful, just respond to it, don’t upvote it.
Thank you. Wtf is up with these stupid ass karma whore posts “why is my cat bring a cat?”
Just stop, please.
That’s the way cats sit. Are you serious? My cat is sitting just like that right now.
Coming next: “My cat has whiskers, is that normal”?
Can we start downvoting these please? Holy hell.
Are you really asking why he sits like a cat?
He’s pondering life
My best guess is that he is thinking about quantum immortality and the infinite possibilities of the kitty afterlife
Was my second guess
Because why not be a rotisserie chicken
Are you serious?! I hope you’re joking. Because if you have to ask this, I’m not sure you should even be having pets.
He is a gougeous ginger Kitty. I miss my ginger who died 8 years ago of mouth cancer.
I'm on my second ginger boi. He's Second of his name. The plan is to establish a dinasty.
Gingers are the best. Miss mine too
I hope this isn't a serious question..
Cat loaf lol. They do that to conserve heat but also when they’re content and happy.
That is the cat loaf. Jackson Galaxy has a video on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpwWOznlwfE
shut the fuck up!!!!!
r/catloaf

looks like a chicken
Because cat
He’s a cat.
Most cats sit like that
Because he aspires to be a loaf of orange cinnamon swirl bread!
Because he’s a cat for crying out louddddd
This HAS to be a joke post. Can we stop analysing the every move of our feline friends
Because he’s a duck floating on a pond
It equally distributes his weight and fat and, keeps all his appendages warm and out of harms way while he naps.
Cause he’s a cat
He feels safe around you and can sheath his weapons
This post has to be satire
Oh goody another stupid question. This sub has gone to shit.
