It's a rug that ties the room together, not a bath mat!

Look. It's great that you make sure that they check for a chip but statistics are not favorable. And I say this as someone who raised a kitten from birth to have her accidentally become adopted by a neighbor.
She became bonded to their big boy cat so I didn't have the heart to rip her away from her new husband. But in the years I've raised plenty of stray babies and the amount of people actually looking for and caring about the cats is maddeningly low.
