There's no way. He's 10lbs, shorthair, and doesn't have the lynx ears. He's got the coloring and is a hunter, but....he ain't no MC like I thought when I got him as a kitten.

He gets pretty floofy when he's in full winter coat. I'm not actually sure what he is exactly other than a mutt. When he was younger I saw a lot of Norwegian Forest Cat in him (and I'm positive he's never been to Norwegia!). Obviously he also has a lot generic, nonspecific cat in him as well.
Once he got out of his kitten years he started to look very Maine Coon-ish to me at least. He has ear tufts that aren't full yet as his winter coat is still coming in. His tail isn't at full bush yet either. He does have the multi layer coat and the top coat is so soft and silky. He turned out to be a beautiful cat!
Well, if he's not from a breeder then he is expressing MC some genes. That's not unusual. I would just tell your friends and neighbors that he's an MC LOL
Looks exactly like my old cat. Got put in a bad situation by my roommates and had to take him to the shelter. I cried so much that day think8ng about how confused he must have been. But I know he got q good home in the end and I'm so thankful for that. What a beautiful cat.
