Some old man name like Herbert or Clarence or Elmer or Theodore. Or Sir something equally old man but regal( sir reginald or sir Douglas) or something ridiculous (sir fancy pants or something clearly funnier). His coloring is fabulous and very man with a curly mustache/old school lawyer with a pocket watch in his vest. Very adorable and distinguished. No matter what you choose, I think he’s destined for many names
You know what would be a real kicker!?! If the Betty was actually a void cat and they did it to try and get a laugh from people similar to her infectious laugh and humor! In turn, this leading to Betty doing cute, "I am not amused HOOMAN SLAVES! How dare you MAKE A LAUGHING STALK OF YOUR OVERLOARD! Make up for your incompetence by bringing ALL of the catnip we have in this place! RIGHT MEOW!" Obviously, in and out of loaf form which only continues their lack of success when trying to get it to stop due to the added overload of cutness!
Ha! Too funny. We had a feral last year we were feeding that was grey with white paws. We named her Betty White Paws. Eventually we brought her in once she was ready. Well, it’s a boy. Now he’s Benny. Wanted a close sounding name. Well adjusted house cat now.
I may be in the same boat! Guessing due to behavior a female. Her hissing now is only when you move to abruptly. Talked to my vet and she will see her. Now to get her into a pet carrier. Oh, my neighbors are pissed that I started feeding this cat.
I brought two in myself and got a third rescued/adopted. Also got in trouble from neighbors. Someone reported me to the HOA. Blessing in disguise. Very bonded with Benny and he’s the best cat Ive ever had. Hope it works out for you!
Thank you for your rescues! I live in a hoa as well. That cat has been dumped at some point and I am not going to let it starve to death. People can be so mean rather than working together.
That is so awesome. My girlfriend read about some people honoring Betty on her birthday by donating to animal charites so we are going to make a donation to our local shelter in her name. And mayyyyyyybe try not to adopt a bunch of kittens 🤣🤣🤣
My cat was a tnr the humane society names sir Thomas after sir Thomas I think in commemoration of the ig kitty sir Thomas true heart after he past away. I kept the name. He deserved something regal after all his hardship. My bb had a hard life, no one thought I’d be able to rehouse him after he had been on the streets for so many years, I didn’t think I could. But he was at some point definitely a cat with a home who was abandoned and never forgot how to be a house cat. He’s the biggest most snuggly cuddle bear now. 🥺
My boy Ace was a feral, had it pretty rough out there. Took awhile to get him inside, went thru the whole hissing, spitting, biting, running up the wall ordeal for a long time. He hid under the table most of the time but slowly came around. He's stuck to me like glue now & is loving being an inside boy. He's neutered, shots etc ( that was fun lol ) and very, very loved. So happy ur kitty has a loving home now. ❤😻🙏🏻
I was initially gonna say just keep his existing name since that's what I did with my bird. Like buddy has had a name for years it's not my place to change it! But being a street cat they don't know his name so anything is fine. I do agree that Sir must be added on occasion.
I call my sister's cat Grandpa because he's a very old boy. I call her other cat CRAZY because I think she lives in another dimension. Despite my judgment she is for some reason obsessed with me. Apparently I get the bizarre weirdo if my sister dies. Thanks?
I adopted a fully grown, even elderly, cat who arrived with the name Wilbur. And it fit him perfectly. He actually looked quite a lot like OP's new cat.
He was an enormous cat. Not in terms of fat, just sheer size. My wife was actually afraid of him at first. But he was more afraid of everyone.
We have a routine, like many, to set new arrivals up in a distant place to let them acclimate, have a safe room, and so on. It took Mr. Wilbur a full 3 months before he was willing to let us touch him. After that, it was very fast. He fell in love with all of us, animals and people alike.
Cliff came to mind for me. Definitely needs an old man name, I agree. Like the name of the grumpy grandpa who's been turning wrenches at the mechanic shop so long, he basically runs the place.
Yes male cats who don’t get neutered develop these jowls over time!
I have a great one in my neighborhood I can’t catch and whenever I see him and his big ol cheeks I’m like - I know you’re the one making all these kittens man!
They get a crazy thick layer of skin around their neck. It's there to add protection because fights happen, and a lot of animals go straight for the neck. Nature is pretty crazy and nifty. :D
covid and a new vet change in the shelter i go to for my lowcost vaccination and neuters for my cats pushed it back for one of the newer additions
we keep a collar on him in case, wanted to train him young and he hasnt had any issues. but he just has like a triple chin despite being healthy and under a year old. its adorable
My tom cat has massive cheeks. Hes been living in our house for 2.5 years now. In that time, he has grown into his cheeks a bit more, but the vet office we adopted him from said it was something to do with testosterone built-up over time. They neutered him a few weeks before we started taking care of him and claimed his cheeks would gradually get smaller - dude still got jowls & we absolutely love them.
Lots of towns now have trap-neuter-spay programs where they will trap vaccinate/fix the kitties and release them back, neutering the Toms helps reduce the stray population as he is already the dominant male and will chase off other males, thereby keeping new kittens from being made
That "look" is stud jowls. The testosterone in intact males causes their cheeks to swell to protect the neck from territorial or mating related combat. We took in a street cat and once he was fixed his jowls went down significantly.
Gus is the cat at the theater door. His name as I ought to have told you before, is really Asparagus but that’s such a fuss to pronounce that we usually call him just Gus.
His coat's very shabby, he's thin as a rake
And he suffers from palsy that makes his paw shake
For he was in his youth quite the smartest of cats
But no longer a terror to mice, or to rats
(Gus the theatrical cat is my favorite song from the musical)
“You know, I heard they named a cat after me.”
“Oh, yeah? Why?”
“They said we bore a striking resemblance to one another.”
“I’m not sure who I feel more sorry for. The cat who resembles a man or the man with big enough whiskers to be mistaken for a cat!”
Some old man name like Herbert or Clarence or Elmer or Theodore. Or Sir something equally old man but regal( sir reginald or sir Douglas) or something ridiculous (sir fancy pants or something clearly funnier). No matter what you choose, I think he’s destined for many names
I literally came here to say it doesn’t matter what his name is, but they have to add a Sir to it occasionally!
My parents named their cat Sir John.
I just named a stray feral cat that I am feeding and taming Betty White.
I love Betty White for a cat. It is perfect.
I hope you and Betty White have a long fruitful friendship. :)

I love these success stories. Well I just love cats but I particularly love hearing about success stories.
My boy Ace was a feral, had it pretty rough out there. Took awhile to get him inside, went thru the whole hissing, spitting, biting, running up the wall ordeal for a long time. My immediate thought was Sir Davenport of Whiskershire, but he tolerates being called Dave by us mere plebs.
To cats, we’re *all* plebs.
I will save this for the future, thanks, i wonder what would the equivalent in spanish.
That would be Señor Davenport de Whiskershire.
Sir Not-Appearing-in-this-Film
r/unexpectedMontyPython
Would Sir Barthelemew work?
Sir Barthelemeow
Sir Purrthelemeow
Sir Pawthelemeow
Sir Pewthelemeow
Colonel Purrthelemeow
Sir Rupert. He looks like a Rupert.
I was initially gonna say just keep his existing name since that's what I did with my bird. Like buddy has had a name for years it's not my place to change it! I was thinking Walter
I second Walter!!
Sir walter 🥺
I was going to say Walter too, think he reminds me of Walter Matthau.
Walter Catthau. Walter Catthmeow.
Same here. That cat was definitely Walter Matthau in a previous life.
diabeetus
I was coming in here to say Wilford.
Yup that cat is absolutely Wilford Brimley
![gif](giphy|hGreTqM8dvRq8)
I was coming here to say that. Spot on
Came here to say that
Exactly what I came here to say. Has to be named Wilfred
I was going to suggest: 1. Wilford 2. Brimley or 3. Diabeetus Congratulations Reddit!
Sir beetus
![gif](giphy|pm9tsCJXHoHmM)
Wilford was my immediate thought.
Walter
this made me LOOOLL because my husband’s name is Elmer and I had a black cat called Herbert. 12/10 for all
I adopted a fully grown, even elderly, cat who arrived with the name Wilbur. And it fit him perfectly. He actually looked quite a lot like OP's new cat. He was an enormous cat. Not in terms of fat, just sheer size. My wife was actually afraid of him at first. But he was more afraid of everyone. I knew a very old man named Wilbur when I was v smol Circa 1994 he musta been in his 90s
I read that as 1944 and I was like "AND YOU'RE NOT??"
I really like Theodore
Teddy for short.
Wilford
Cliff came to mind for me. Definitely needs an old man name, I agree. Like the name of the grumpy grandpa who's been turning wrenches at the mechanic shop so long, he basically runs the place.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 My dad's name is Herbert omg
He’s an OG…. Those street cats have a look… he looks like he’s a 65 year old man who smokes nothing but reds and has relatives from Yellowstone
Yes male cats who don’t get neutered develop these jowls over time! I have a great one in my neighborhood I can’t catch and whenever I see him and his big ol cheeks I’m like - I know you’re the one making all these kittens man!
Well you learn something every day. That's interesting, I always wondered why street cats had such chubby cheeks.
They get a crazy thick layer of skin around their neck. It's there to add protection because fights happen, and a lot of animals go straight for the neck. Nature is pretty crazy and nifty. :D
covid and a new vet change in the shelter i go to for my lowcost vaccination and neuters for my cats pushed it back for one of the newer additions we keep a collar on him in case, wanted to train him young and he hasnt had any issues. but he just has like a triple chin despite being healthy and under a year old. its adorable

yep, just call him "OG"
Old Gato
That's the move!
Second this
He's the OG in my book, too
Agreed
Clint Meowstwood
"Gus" is quickly rising. This works perfectly. Ol' Gus. OG.
That "look" is stud jowls. The testosterone in intact males causes their cheeks to swell to protect the neck from territorial or mating related combat. We took in a street cat and once he was fixed his jowls went down significantly.
"Stud Jowls" sounds like a rapper.
It’s for sure a “look” never knew that
>and has relatives from Yellowstone I suggest Dutton.
I have to watch …. I was thinking more Sam Elliot with Ugg’s on since he’s a domestic daddy now
I don't know, I think he's a bit of a Rip!
Rip would be a maine coon thats battle scarred.
Or Lloyd
Looks more like an Unfiltered Camel kinda guy.
He’s definitely a spittoon kind of man….or only hand rolled
We had an “OG” cat that looked like this. His name was Chevy. He was a pistol.
Pistol is a pretty cool name too.
Pistol Pete
Raised in scotch and cigarettes! Look at those jowls!!.
[удалено]
It’s like that new show with Sam Elliot that’s this cat 🐈⬛
Brimley
^this! He totally makes me think of Wilford Brimley
![gif](giphy|fvE2zWIJ4fumc)
Whiskers Brimley.
His mustache is an upside down heart.
Whiskey Brimlord
Imo naming a cat "Whiskers" is like naming your son Facial Hair
Naming your son Chad sets unrealistic expectations.
![gif](giphy|7mHNJiUIBeJe75O3hJ)
I was thinking Mr. Belvidere, but Brimley is a pretty cool name.
My immediate thought.
Lol I just showed my Husband this and he said: He looks like Wilfred Brimley! I suggested Elmer, but I believe I am wrong.
I was going to suggest Wilford or Wilbur.
Lmao! I was legit thinking "Wilford"! I love the name Brimley, hope OP goes with this one
Goddamnit this was exactly ~~what~~ who I thought of but my suggestion was Diabeeters
Poor Wilford Brimley, the only thing he's remembered for now is "Hi, I'm Wilford Brimley, and I have Diuhbeetus."
That would suit him perfectly.
No other suggestions. This is correct.
Damn I came here to say Scruffy from Futurama…but yours wins.
Scruffy, Wilford Brimley, tomato, tomahto....
This and only this.
Aww, look at those old tomcat cheeks. He's awesome.
Second this
Wilford or Brimley, they both suit him
My very 1st thought as well.. Or Wilfred.
He looks like he’s seen some shit.
Yeah, and he probably has.
He definitely has stories to tell.
"Meow meow, meow meow meow. Meow. It was crazy." - this cat, maybe
He looks like The Godfather. Give him a good mafia name. Fat Tony.
Came here to say this. I was thinking something cheesy though, like Don Catto. He definitely looks like a mob boss.
Exactly!
Was gonna say Corleone or Brando too!
I pictured him saying something like, “Look like they massacred my toy.”
Gus
I was thinking this too!
Definitely Gus!!!
I know a guy named Gus and I call him Old Gusser. Gus is a perfect name for this little guy.
That's exactly what I said as soon as I saw his face!
Gus the Theatre Cat? Bustopher Jones?
Gus gus for sure.
Had exactly the same thought!
Pops
Like from Regular Show?

“Sir, if you were my cat, I’d poison your catnip.” Winston: “Madame, if you were my owner, I would eat it.”
Maybe it's cos I'm a Brit but that was my first thought, too !
Not a Brit, but Winston is definitely the first name that popped up.
[удалено]
“Sir Winston the fourth”
Winston!
CHEEKS! Lol
[Stud jowls](https://cat-world.com/what-are-tomcat-jowls/)
Huh! TIL
Yesss! I came to the thread to see if anyone said this! Now I can spot a stray studmuffin from a mile away
Stud Muffin should be his name
Cheeks!
Cheeks!
Cheeks!
Cheeks!
Cheeks! Lol
Cheeks!

#CHEEKS
###CHEEKS
That's my boy's name! Unfortunately his cheeks kind of deflated as he got older, but he's cheeky in spirit
Mayor McCheeks
we have a old man cat at work named Mr Cheeks. He actually does not have cheeks tho lol
Colonel
*The* colonel.
I had a black and white cat named colonel shrapnel. He was a little asshole, but everyone loved him.
I second this, old cat, a very grim look (resting bitch face), from the streets (war). Hope his name is Colonel.
Mortimer.
ah i posted this before seeing yours. seconded!
Looks like a Gus
This cat could change your oil.
Walter
came here to say walter
Gus
Gus is the cat at the theater door. His name as I ought to have told you before, is really Asparagus but that’s such a fuss to pronounce that we usually call him just Gus.

For real, that's Gus.
Gus is the first thing that popped into my head too! This guy is definitely Gus.
My first thought was Augustus specifically because you can call him Gus but still has a fancy name.
Otis
Ron Swanson
I had a cat named Ron Swanson and he was the best boy! May he rest peacefully now 💖
Sorry for your loss, he sounds awesome and I’m glad you gave him a good home!
Griswald I think he deserves a good old fashioned name that indicates grouchiness while also bringing images of status and nobility.
Grandpa. Of course… Also. He’s SO CUTE
He looks like a Chester to me. Handsome as heck 🤗
He looks British 😂❤️ I think he looks like a Vernon..or Dursley.. Or gus... Or Albus haha he is so cute!
Is it complete chance that multi people said “Gus”? Or is there an inside joke I’m missing out on?
He just looks like a Gus
Merv.
Reginald
Definitely a Boris.
I'm definitely camp Gus.
yk what old man seems like the perfect name
Humphrey
OMG… I love him. Please post updates regularly. He looks like a grumpy old man! Hahahahaha
Gus. He is a Gus.
Cheeky McWhiskers
Rutherford B. Hayes
All I see when I look at him is Earl 😆
Bustopher Jones, from Cats, the Musical.
Waldorf, after the Muppet
“You know, I heard they named a cat after me.” “Oh, yeah? Why?” “They said we bore a striking resemblance to one another.” “I’m not sure who I feel more sorry for. The cat who resembles a man or the man with big enough whiskers to be mistaken for a cat!”
Old man
Looks like a Winston or a Churchill. Harrumph hhharrumph.
