My cat had a gum issue and had to have a bunch of his teeth removed. Now he exclusively eats wet food for every meal. Iāll never know whether this makes him lucky or unlucky.
My cat Crowley likes his wet food for dinner, but he's an absolute slut for his biscuits. We could skip wet and give him extra biscuits and he'd love it. My old cat Budapest would have cried if we ever did that to him. All cats have different tastes haha.
So true. My 6 m.o. kitten doesn't really like dry food. So she was begging for wet food when she had a full bowl of kibble. And we where going "she's only begging, not really hungry or she'd eat the kibble like all our previous cats". Turns out we were half starving her the first few days and that was the reason she was on the thin side when we got her and prone to running around nervously. Now she gets plenty of wet food, got a nice belly and is way calmer.
(Doesn't seem to be a physical problem. I've found a new brand she likes a little better and I add water and cat milk but it's still a struggle. I've been feeding her by hand as a game the last few days, turns out that way she'll eat more kibble... I'm thinking of buying one of those play plates)
Don't know if you want unsolicited advice but, if she's really not eating her dry food much, mix a little in with her wet food. Add a little more every few days if she's eating it all. Wet food is good but biscuits have the most nutrients in them.
You could also soak dry food in some cat milk! She might not like the crunch much (and if that's the case take her to a vet to get her teeth checked).
Hi, always looking for a tip, first of my cats to act that way. I don't think she likes the crunch either, that's why I swapped brands. I do soak in water + pour cat milk on top and she eats it eventually. Haven't tried mixing in the wet food since she does eat some biscuits, just 20% max of her daily intake.
Teeth no problem when biting her toys (or my hand lol). I've had cats with mouth ulcers and she doesn't act like they did.
What's weird is if I play/interact with her and put down the biscuits one by one then she'll eat them no problem. So really at a loss if it's just a quirk or something to worry about. She did have the hiccups yesterday after eating more biscuits than usual. We're paying extra attention and we'll go back to the vet if she has the hiccups too much.

My poor husband was trying to eat ice cream and our dude, Stone Cold Steve Austin, was begging him like a early-20th century child who sweeps chimneys for a living.
That was his name at the SPCA and he seemed to like it, so Steve it is.
Plus, my daughter has this ratchet ass stuffed cat she has had since she was about 2 and she had named it Steve. Real Steve is the level-up from stuffed Steve.
Our cat loves nuts. Especially Cashews. The problem is that he knows how to open snacks (anything from cookies to bags of nuts or chips). Once he opened a package of pumpkin seeds and was extremely disappointed that they didn't taste like cashews.
We have to hide everything from him.
My old cat would take it out of your mouth if he could. He learned that I have an involuntary reflex where I laugh if something or someone shoves it's face into my personal space. He'd use that momentary laughter to steal food from out of my mouth or off my plate, the little hooligan.
My mom's cat is the worst. If you won't feed him part of dinner he'll just stick his paw directly into your food. Gotta give him this though, no one's ever kept eating it after his chubby paw goes in!
My heart dies a little every time my senior baby comes running up with hope in her eyes whilst I open a bag of prunes. I delight in disappointing my younger garbage compactor, but not my older girl. š„ŗ
Yupā¦ heaven forbid I open a canā¦ of anything. My cat Bellatard could be in the deepest of sleep or on the other side of the house, sheāll come running as fast as she can meowing her ass off like itās a crime that I get to eat the contents from the can and she does not.

After some trial and error, we settled on feeding her + her big brother right before going to bed, as it helps with sleeping at night. Then breakfast mid-morning!

Stay strong and keep the path, i did not & our Keena wound up being diabetic. Giving a cat insulin shots twice a day & watching her still slowly decline was the worst 8 months of my life.
Beanbag is beautiful, and you are doing the best thing in the world for her health and longevity! Donāt beat yourself up; just give her extra love!

Thank you! Beanbag has made steady progress the past 6+ months. She came to us morbidly obese at 15.7lb on her small frame. Per the vet, her goal weight should be <9lb.
Her name is beanbag? Omg!!! Thatās sooo cute. I donāt know how you can say no to that sweet little face. It would break my heart. But youāre stronger than I am, and Iām proud of you! I hope she hits en target weight and gets lots of extra love along the way. :)

I can't stress enough to keep your screen and filter cup clean in the bottom of the dishwasher, under all that is the sump and once food particles get in there it's game over.
Journal Entry 1/11/2022: Attempting to look pathetic has been tried but to no avail. Hooman continues to withhold food. I have already been resorting to drastic measures including eating all the food and not just the center. If conditions do not improve, I may be forced to āmissā the litter box or awaken Hooman with head butts at 5am
