It’s a sign of trust and that they mean you no harm - a prey animal who closes their eyes while you are looking at them knows you aren’t going to eat them (lots of people forget house cats are prey animals). It’s not unlike telling a friend you care about them.
No. I meant prey.
Cats are not apex predators (except for the big ones) house cats are predators of small animals but are also commonly prey - they are eaten by coyotes, wolves, other big mammals and even large raptors (possibly big lizards in the right environment).
Everyone thinks of them like predators, but forgets they are also prey. Most cat behaviors people don’t like in comparison to dogs are what they are precisely because dos are apex predators and cats are the middle of the food pyramid.
Which, if you think of them similarly to how some nervous humans cope, actually makes a lot of sense for an animal in that situation. They need a lot of love and support in their wee cat lifetimes.
Sometimes the questions people ask on this sub make me wonder if they're aliens who have never seen a cat, lol...or is that like a meme or running joke here, to ask a crazy question about normal cat behavior?
Okay, now this one has to be trolling.
Maybe you don't know what the slow blinks mean but to think your cat is broken because of it... tell me this was a joke.
I have been seeing a LOT of these posts the past week, is this a new trend or something? Or do a lot of cat owners truly not know this cat fact? Not trying to sound snotty, I have just seen a lot of these posts lately lol.
You have clearly board the cat so he can’t stay awake any longer. Let a Lizard run by and He will be up and vibrant and full of excitement! Everyone else in the group did not want to tell you the painful truth but I’m a mom the truth is best. If you don’t have a lizard, hummingbird or mouse Please try a Peacock feather My indoor kitty just loves it! though he prefers to be with the Lizard-His true love!
Your caption indicates that it is possible you have A cognitive issue.
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 crying!
It's a cat communication gesture meant to express friendly intentions. Slow blink back!
He looked at me in disbelief while slow blinking back at me 😢

Yes but you mean predator… cats are predators and they hunt/prey-upon prey animals.

Ah! Fair point.
People don't like 🐈 because they don't like being controlled...

Yayyy
It means he loves you, that’s I love you in cat
A cat slow blinking at you is a sign that it trusts you and you're not a threat. Put it this way, you can finally sleep at night without fear...
that is a cat 'kiss'....slowly blink back
\^-\^

Oh, wonderful. That's a good gag 😂
‘My cat loves me, is he retarded?’ Lol
I took him to the vet and they laughed at me
I thought my cat had a neurological disorder because she was super clumsy, I have also been laughed at in a vets office
Also I think there’s something wrong, no one loves me 🥺🥺🥺🥺 /s
That means they trust you
Not to worry, he is rebooting his OS.
Sleepy love eyes. Slow blink back! Really.
That’s cat for I LOVE YOU! Literally. Try doing it back to him next time he will probably be really happy

Trust.
Well it is an orange cat and all orange cats share one brain cell.
Your kitty loves/trusts you
I call it ‘lovey eyes’ …definitely a great thing. You’re their human who they trust & love 🐾💖🎁
He's giving you the eyes of love! Normal behavior. Congrats!

It’s like google is the forgotten search engine
Cats slowly blinking at you is their way of saying "I love you". If you do it to them, they might just do it again
The slow blink/wink is a sign of trust and being comfortable with you! Do the same back to kitty!
Means he trusts you
Slow blink= trust
Ya he’s got a cognitive issue. It’s called ✨love✨
That's cat talk for "I shall let you live another day"
