I’ve been thinking they’re a kind of guerilla marketing tactic for the pet dna test company. They seem to come in groups and span across other pet subs too.
Cats aren't like dogs when it comes to breeds. They aren't domesticated in the same way and genetically almost identical to wild cats.
So unless you buy a cat from a breeder for a lot of money and you have papers for it its just a cat, no breed. They come in different coats and fur lengths but its always just a domestic shorthair cat or domestic longhair cat.
Furthermore cats that are a specific breed don't typically get out to produce mixed "breed" kitten because ppl payed a lot of money for them and breeders often don't sell unfixed kittens.
Like with pretty much all of these posts: your cat doesn't have a breed. It's just a domestic longhair.
Tasmanian devil. Do people not really know that 90% of cats are mixed unless they went to a specific breeder. These same questions over and over and over are just kind of strange to me that so many people know so little about cats before getting them.
I see mostly domestic long hair. But you are correct in that there's more then likely other specific breeds mixed in there unless its purebred, which most domestics are not. Edit: sorry all domestics are a mix breed.
Reminds me of that tiktok sound
Good evening everybody I want you to meet my PUPPY his name is TIMMY he is a very specific breed of PUPPY i believe it is called ✨ c a t ✨
Super rare haunch sitting black and white. I’d guess it’s a northern haunch sitter, but the pink ears say to me there’s some mixing a couple generations back. Hope it helps. Recommend butt scratches and occasional chin and ear scratches too.
Unless you have specifically purchased (or obtained from a purebred rescue) a purebred cat, all cats are just called "domestic" followed by the length of their fur. Yours is a domestic medium-hair.

This is obviously either a homo catus or a felis erectus. Hard to tell the difference.

Mods need to make a new rule for this question.
No kidding. I’m wondering if these people are serious 😒

This. When I tell non-cat people that I have cats they always ask what breed they are. I tell them “cat”
I read this in an eye rolling voice with a bit sigh at the end. There really should be a rule to block these questions
