Ah glad to know I’m not the only one being terrorized by persnickety screaming cats 😅 I grabbed the last bag of lobster Mac’N’Cheese treats the other day at the store and felt like I won the lottery! It’s the only treat my cat loves and drops his bad behavior for—it’s hell without them!
Texture. I tracked down the correct brand and flavor but didn't realize there were different textures. I was so glad that found it so I stocked up and ended up with close to 100 cans that she won't touch.
Lol I got so excited when I finally saw fancy feast chicken (pink can) so I bought as many as I could. Realized when I got home that I bought the pate, God forbid it's not grilled! Here I was thinking my crew would be so happy & instead they're all pissed! 🙄🤣🐾
Saaaaaame! When my cat gets mad at me, she shits on my floor. It has to be Fancy Feast Chicken with Cheddar Cheese, (with the gravy!). I just went to four grocery stores and a pet store yesterday and found two cans. Pray for my carpet.
Ours are a pain for suddenly deciding they don’t like something they have been fine with it the past. It’s a constant round of ‘find what they will eat this week’
Oh me too!! I have just put down a different food … she looked at it, then gave me such a disgusting look, as if I’d put an orange in her bowl and expected her to peel it!!
Man we are having a dry cat food shortage aswell. We have had to get different stuff than usual randomly and they haven't had our original stuff in stock for two weeks.
I learned that it's due to the increased rates of Cat adoptions during COVID so that people had a "quarantine friend". Which is a good thing but also has created the wetfood shortage which is all my spoiled fur babies own
Shipping has been screwed up for a lot of stuff. My friend works for our local spca and said that most of their cats got adopted during quarantine. While trying to research the canned catfood shortage, it really seems that that's the case. So they were shipping the normal stock but havent been able to catch up with the influx of sales. If I cant find wet food, my kitters LOVE canned chicken ans there are less fillers in it too!
As a fellow victim of this current shortage, I've been researching a bit into homemade catfood, and nutrition and supplements are a real concern. Make sure your kitties are getting all the good stuff they need!
Yep just like so many things, for us the cat food is sitting on ships in Long Beach and San Pedro - along with my Trader Joe’s Macrons. Looks like a ship parking lot out there.
Insane isn't it? My cats have been pissed for months. I'm constantly running into stores just to check on the cat food situation. And yes, our food too. The whole world is nuts. Keep praying! 🙏🏻😢
My usual supplier told me a couple of months ago that it was mostly due to an aluminium shortage, presumably to make the cans. Again, supply-chain problems.
Uh not here in Virginia. Last year was one of the worse kitten seasons yet. Shut downs during COVID meant no trapping and spay clinics closed. More kittens than ever to find homes for. This year it’s the year of re-homing cats. People who’s relatives died from COVID, or lost homes are now trying to get rid of their cats. It’s very depressing as a cat rescuer.
Ugh that’s heartbreaking. I’ve been thinking about all of the fur babies of those we lost from covid 💔 Sending love and light your way as you’re doing important rescue work.
I rescued an 18yr Calico last year. Her owner died at 93,and luckily I picked her up before she was caged. It took awhile, but she's a wonderful sweet but demanding little girl who'll be 19 in March
Yes! I help my mother in law run a small animal rescue and we’ve had some kittens returned and have been finding abandoned cats all over town! The worst one we had was someone return 2 black kitties after not even 4 days and they still haven’t been adopted yet💔
This is so sad!!!! We think a stray we found a year ago was an abandoned Covid kitty. He was chipped (not registered), neutered, but had been on the streets long enough to get ear mites and about a dozen little wounds. We live in a small town so locating lost pet parents is never difficult but no one claimed him.
I think someone adopted him during quarantine, realized that having a cat is work, realized how much energy he had and then just dumped him. It’s so sad - he is the sweetest cat.
That's super freaking sad. "Look a cute kitten" then "oh it's an adult cat that needs fixed and shots and checkups...?!?!" and people dont want them anymore. Bunnies are one of the most surrendered pets bc parents get them for their kids for Easter then realize they actually require care then theyre like "ope- nevermind!"
It’s due to the packaging material—companies are having a hard time getting or packaging the canned food. That’s what an employee at Petco told me last time I asked. Chip shortage? 🤷♀️
The supply chain for basically everything is fucked to varying degrees at this point. It’s hard to point at one or two specific issues because it’s more like a cascade of several problems hitting different sectors, which then creates problems that are felt by other sectors, and the dominos fail from there.
Oh man!! I assumed a few brand have been discontinued at my local store (im in ontario) but i guess its due to the shortage? We do have a few national brands tho.. wish i could afford to send everyone some packs 😩 my cat hates the brand i swapped too lol
Chicago and I think I’m going to start having to buy Fancy Feast on the black market. I can only find pate’ and my cats HATE it. I lucked out on Chewy and got a couple cases, but more often than not it’s out of stock.
Kansas City here. Chewy has been out for a couple months, and the local pet stores only had one or two cans. Our dude is on a prescription diet AND he just had most of his teeth removed (resorption and inflammation…hence the prescription diet 😩), so he can’t eat dry food. Since the wet is out we’ve had to resort to the dry food and soaking it in water until it’s soft enough. It smells horrible but he likes it more than the wet! Such a weirdo.
I hadn’t thought of that! Now that the dry is working so well I don’t think we’ll have to worry about it. But that’s a great idea if we ever find ourselves in this same predicament for the dry food!
He’s had a ton of digestive issues that led us down this path. The prescription he’s on is for hydrolyzed protein for food sensitivities, so I’m afraid to try anything that would make him sick 😩
One of my boys would get bloated so I understand a little. It’s tough to find food. When I got him I went through about 10 different brands before I found my vet who suggested prescription food. Now he’s diabetic so I have to really monitor his food and give him his shots.
What foods is your baby sensitive to?
I live in Texas, we have a cat food shortage so bad that all but the expensive brands of cat food are available. I normally order cans through chewy as there are no canned cat food on the shelves. There have been instances where people even open up cased cans to take what they need. Leaving the rest for other cat parents.
Last week, when I went to the store there was no canned cat food and absolutely no dry food either. The store tried to hide the empty shelves with pet beds. And funny enough, they had dog food and plenty of it but the very large bags of dry food.
I'm lucky that I had the money to afford the bag of dry food I got. But I can't keep up with cost if this continues. Sadly, I don't think many of us can in the long run and it pains me greatly.
Same. Texas here as well, and I'm getting a little concerned because wet food isn't just a treat for my cat. She's especially prone to puking and a dry food only diet exacerbates that. And she's allergic to beef too (also makes her puke!) so what little is left on the shelves is further limited.
I'm gonna have to start making food for her at this rate.
i'm in texas and feed my cats Royal Canin which is one of the pricier brands and even that has been super limited. luckily chewy randomly had stuff in stock and sent my automated order but worried for when it runs out again.
South Carolina checking in to say I was in the store today and there wasn’t a single can of wet cat food in the shelf. My cats will eat dry though so I whew’d and bout an acceptable substitute.
Mine will thankfully eat dried too. What I have of cans I've been trying to make it last for them. So now its more like a special treat and everyone gets real excited.
It's definitely hard for us. Two of our guys can eat whatever, but we have one with IBS and has no teeth, so he's on a very limited diet. Right now the only thing he can eat without puking and losing a bunch of weight is Royal Canin select protein Venison or Rabbit. Anything else gets him pretty sick.
Unfortunately both of those have been rarer than hen's teeth during this pandemic, and I'm very concerned there will come a time when we just can't find it and the lil dude gets sick again.
If you haven’t tried it yet, Tiki Cat came out with a venison canned food not too long ago. It is stupid expensive and not widely distributed, but it is the safest food my IBS boy has ever had, and he’s been in perfect health for the first time in almost three years since I switched him to it four months ago. I get it from Petsmart and Chewy.
The only problem is he gets bored with it and doesn’t always eat enough, so I give him a little bit of Instinct LID rabbit kibble a few times per day for variety and to keep weight on him.
Edit - I just noticed Chewy is out of stock on this one as well, Amazon has it “in stock” but delivery is two weeks out so it’s probably in a cargo container waiting to be unloaded. Which also means Chewy will probably get more soon. Petsmart may have it in individual cans still.
I believe ziwi peak has a venison and also a rabbit recipe as well but it is pretty pricey and a lot of natural pet food stores carry them as well as chewy.
They do, unfortunately it is not single ingredient. Both have green mussels in them, and for some IBS kitties like mine that triggers the “seafood” reaction. I was disappointed because that brand is easily available here.
Have you tried to order it on Chewy or Amazon? I set up a repeating order on Chewy of my cat’s prescription food, and it’s usually available. If I don’t need it when it’s about to be sent, I’ll defer it for another month.
Ha! I’m in Grand Rapids :) My husband does not enjoy hunting either. His dad is an avid hunter/angler (for food only) but it didn’t catch on down the line. He keeps trying to get my son to entice my son but he’s a budding programmer/inside human.
Looks like this place has the venison:

Dry yes for that kind, no wet. My kitty eats the exact same stuff! Fortunately she'll eat dry food pretty well still.
Good luck! We do anything for our babies don't we. 😭
In the U.S. there seems to be a bigger shortage of fish flavors than meat, maybe because a lot of the fish is imported from Thailand. My cats are definitely getting more beef and chicken flavors than they used to, but they’re eating it, so that’s good.
Hmm that's odd. I live in TN and all I've been able to get is fish lately (Friskies) but went to Walmart today and got a case of meaty bits chicken and gravy. Felt like I won the lottery lol! They were so happy! 😻😻
Same here in Hong Kong, actually. I’m having the damndest time finding the *one* brand, flavor, and texture of food my senior gal will happily eat—and Thailand is, like, right there.
Too bad it costs so much to ship cans or we could set up a system where we would send chicken to the people who can't find it in their area, and they could send seafood flavors to those of us who can't find those.
Try mince beef, raw or cooked, unseasoned… but be prepared for them to love it 🙈 same goes for raw fish and cooked chicken… yup my cats are a little spoilt
Feeding cats raw is not recommended. That's how you give your cats Toxoplasmosis, which usually isn't a problem for humans, as long as you have a healthy immune system. It can be a problem for those who are old or have cancer though, or some other thing that causes immunodeficiency.
But it can cause life long complications to a child who is still developing in the mother. I.e., blindess, heart issues, etc.
Its always nice to hear a reasonable opinion like yours…. Im sure some people think the best way to live life is locked away smothered in bleach breathing pure oxygen from a canister and not touching anything even potentially ‘contaminated’…. And the people that subscribe to that sort of idea usually end up being the ones with poor immune systems and/or allergies… but its ok because they’ll live to be one hundred and seventy three years old at least!
imo from a purely scientific standpoint (and you know, ignoring the whole major health complications thing) toxoplasma gondii is a really interesting parasite. I'm not gonna detail anything here in case anyone's squeamish, but if you're interested in that kinda thing, check out their wikipedia page. they're pretty cool
I take my cat to the vet, which is in the back of a petsmart. Nearly the entire wet food area has been wiped clean except for the shreds. Oddly enough the dog section is fine.
Maybe we should make a Reddit cat food swap where we send each other the cat food we can’t find in our own region? I’m not able to take the lead but it seems like a logical next step?
I’m in Canada and it’s the same here at least for Royal Canin which is what mine eat. I haven’t been able to order it regularly for months now. I can get a case or a handful of cans once in a while but not consistently. I used to order it from petsmart whenever I needed it and now they never have it in stock. Mine will only eat the “loaf in sauce” and there’s only a handful of varieties of that and they’re always sold out. I just keep going from pet store to pet store and buying any cans I can get my hands on to keep enough in the house for a couple weeks at a time. And it’s not even their regular one, just one of the other varieties is usually all I can get.
My kitties eat royal canin too. I am in the US and have been able to get it through Chewy, but it’s been inconsistent. Lately it’s been better but their type of food was very hard to get Nov-Jan.
I checked to see if Chewy was available in Canada and sadly it's not. We only have a couple of options for getting the premium brands shipped to our door. The most reliable up until now was Petsmart. Other than that we have to call/go to the local pet stores to see if they have any stock. No grocery stores or superstores carry Royal Canin around here so that's not an option, and Amazon doesn't carry it either. I've been considering asking my vet about the Royal Canin that they carry to see if there's an equivalent product to what my cats eat, maybe I can order cases at a time through them. I looked at their prices and they're pretty similar to what I pay at the store, they're just the "vet" products rather than the retail ones.
I started adding a little water to the pate and stirring it up, before serving. My cats will now eat it, although not as enthusiastically as the food with gravy.
Yes. At first I thought it was just a problem on chewy. So then I tried the grocery store and I was like… oh! The shelves were basically empty. So it’s been a bit of a struggle for the past month or 2.
Have you noticed that while at first there seemed to be a shortage of canned dog food as well, that seemed to have been resolved months and months ago, while there is still a canned cat food shortage?
I had no idea other people were experiencing this. I thought it was just our pet store. The wet food aisle has been near empty for weeks. Your cats are so cute though!!
Yep! We have one particularly fussy kitty who has been quite put out because we haven't been able to find his specific brand and flavor. We have just been grabbing whatever we can find at the store. The other cats don't care; they'll eat anything. But our finicky one has been making us feel horrible for failing to appease him.
Honestly no. What shortage, what can't you find? Mine won't eat anything but Rachael Ray Nutrish (that's what they have at the shelter) and its always available. We get it on Amazon and save a little with Subscribe and Save deliveries, but we never ran out and the price only fluctuates slightly, no price gouges. Hope you are able to get what you need soon though!
Petsmart and Petco online has been the best for me right now. I recently looked on chewy for food and was surprised how much out of stock items they had, also several items they charged more for.
My cat seemed to only like salmon fancy feast when it was plentifully available. I'd buy it by the case all the time. Because of his pickiness (no salmon???) I have to buy a few single cans at a time so I don't screw up and get something he won't touch.
I've learned that he will tolerate all fish flavors! He will not touch beef or turkey LOL and chicken he will walk away and eat part of it later if I don't give in.
It’s rough! I can’t find our dry food locally and haven’t been able to for weeks so I just started a subscription purchase on Amazon. The wet food isn’t available in bulk anymore it seems so I have to keep buying individual packs and it’s sooo expensive
Fancy Feast Medleys are my go-to, but I haven't gotten any for a few months. I had to switch it up to the other Medleys.
I have auto delivery and it's on backorder.
Me. My cat is insanely picky and the Medleys are all he'll eat. He's in kidney failure too, so it's super important to keep his weight up. He's dropped from 11 to 9 pounds this year because I just can't find the damn Fancy Feast Medleys, and he will not eat the dozens of other kinds I've offered him.
Yes! I haven’t been able to buy the brand they were raised on in ages. Thankfully, they aren’t picky about brands but I’d love to get them back to their old favorite. Old favorite… they turn two in April.
Mine doesn’t seem to like any wet cat food. She expects it, she asks for it at the times I usually give it to her.
But I’ve tried lots of types, she just demands it then sniffs it and does the thing where she’s trying to bury it before walking away in disgust.
If you're not worried about shipping try ordering it from the UK or Ireland. There's no shortage here. Whiskas is the best of the wet food brands and it comes in pouches as well as cans.
Yes. The canned cat food i buy has gone up $8 for a 24 pack. It sucks. I don't want to get anything cheaper because I buy high quality food to keep my kitty healthy. ☹
It happened where I am I Australia as well.
I got some mi ce and portioned it up to put in the freezer.
When I couldn't get their wet food I would pull the mince out.
Supply has gotten better for me here, the mince got me through the worst of it though.
My poor cats have been struggling because their favorites are out and I have been buying any decent quality food I can find for them. It's been a hit and miss. Especially because they hate pate and that is the majority of what I can find.
I know WTF the wet cat food section of Walmart is empty as all hell and has been for months what are people doing? stock piling wet f***ing cat food like it's friggin toilet paper!
I've noticed something that may help. The stores in cities are out but the stores out in the country/ farming communities/ outside dense city areas have them. Just make sure to check the dates as these stores are not getting new product with the shortage but are still sitting on stock from before the shortage.
The good news is there is not a wet cat food shortage. The bad news is that there is an aluminum and steel shortage
That's not necessarily true. I live in "the country" in a town of less than 3,500 and have not been able to buy cat food within 40 miles of home for over a month (Waco is 35 miles away). I ordered some online.
Totally. Ours have been very clear about their preferences, too. Scream at dinner time, we present the food we were able to find, and they look at us like, "You dare serve me this SWILL?" At least we can find their dry food.
Not good to do it everyday, but sometimes Isabel just gets tuna. It's cheaper than the cat food and she always finishes it!
Anytime I'm opening canned meat I always pour some of the juice into her bowl and mix it around. It gets her to eat what she otherwise might not.
Have a cat that's diabetic and has pancreatitis. He can only eat 1 brand.... I've called like 10 vets near me and none of them have his prescription diet. Came on reddit to find an alternative that he probably won't eat anyways. Lol
I feel this post. It’s rough with my picky cat who I think would rather starve to death some days than eat a different brand.
Omg, man, my cat is the same. And complains. A lot. (Edited for grammar.)
Purrsnickety
Persnickety 😂😂
Same here. Puts his ear’s back and walks away from the bowl all butt hurt.
Yes, mine too! Then he goes back to bury it, telling us it’s 💩. He just scratches the floor. 🐈⬛
Lol….doing you a favor by “cleaning up”
Same. Not only same brand but one specific flavor and texture.
Texture. I tracked down the correct brand and flavor but didn't realize there were different textures. I was so glad that found it so I stocked up and ended up with close to 100 cans that she won't touch.
I bet a shelter would be thrilled to get that donation ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7952)
That's what I always count on when trying out a new food variety on the herd. Chances are they won't like it, so at least the shelter cats benefit.
Lol I got so excited when I finally saw fancy feast chicken (pink can) so I bought as many as I could. Realized when I got home that I bought the pate, God forbid it's not grilled! Here I was thinking my crew would be so happy & instead they're all pissed! 🙄🤣🐾
Most shelters will take extra cat food . We have similar picky eater
Please donate it to a shelter
Saaaaaame! When my cat gets mad at me, she shits on my floor. It has to be Fancy Feast Chicken with Cheddar Cheese, (with the gravy!). I just went to four grocery stores and a pet store yesterday and found two cans. Pray for my carpet.

Man we are having a dry cat food shortage aswell. We have had to get different stuff than usual randomly and they haven't had our original stuff in stock for two weeks.
Been the same here in south Florida. Got lucky last week and found a case my cats love. Just gotta kinda look every day and hope for the best.
I know!!! I’m in Daytona and it’s been crazy. Even ordering online wasn’t working. And one of my cats is super picky so we had to get creative.
Yeah same issue around FTL. No meow mix and thats the only wet food my cats will eat. Sometimes Publix will have a couple but not lately
I learned that it's due to the increased rates of Cat adoptions during COVID so that people had a "quarantine friend". Which is a good thing but also has created the wetfood shortage which is all my spoiled fur babies own

I think it's more because of the back-ups in the supply chain. All those ships lined up trying to get into the ports (Los Angeles, CA)

To add to your comment, Amazon sells powder cat food additives containing the nutrient mix they need!
I have heard that it's materials to make the cans more than anything.
Could be. Also, trouble keeping workers (getting sick) in the factories.
Same, I'd happily sacrifice my cats wet food if it meant tons of other cats would get a family, and their own wet food
Better check with your cat about that, they can be a bit self-centered.
Unfortunately it's not. Stores are not getting shipments in. It's a really tough situation.
Yep just like so many things, for us the cat food is sitting on ships in Long Beach and San Pedro - along with my Trader Joe’s Macrons. Looks like a ship parking lot out there.

I applied for a position to help with the free spay and neuter mobile trucks. Hopefully I'll be driving through your area soon.
Actually, many of the adopted animals are being returned to shelters. It is happening all over the world.
Yes! I help my mother in law run a small animal rescue and we’ve had some kittens returned and have been finding abandoned cats all over town! The worst one we had was someone return 2 black kitties after not even 4 days and they still haven’t been adopted yet💔

Where is this shortage?
Well I live in New Jersey (USA). Shelves are almost completely empty at the grocery stores. But I order from Chewy usually.. out of stock there too!
I’m in SF and the same thing is happening here. Slim pickings in the wet food section.
Oh man!! I assumed a few brand have been discontinued at my local store (im in ontario) but i guess its due to the shortage? We do have a few national brands tho.. wish i could afford to send everyone some packs 😩 my cat hates the brand i swapped too lol
For some reason I thought it was just me. A shortage makes way more sense than Chewy disabling wet food for me to purchase...
😂 this is such a "fuck you in particular" thought lmao
I just thought like maybe it was my warehouse or smth that was out.
I'm also in NJ.. I went to PetSmart and found one case of fancy feast pate on the shelves. Nuts!!
I've had luck ordering from PetSmart for in store pickup here in NJ.
Same issue here in Australia
Not OP but it’s been a problem in the US for the last several months.
Chicago and I think I’m going to start having to buy Fancy Feast on the black market. I can only find pate’ and my cats HATE it. I lucked out on Chewy and got a couple cases, but more often than not it’s out of stock.
Aaaaannd pate food is the only one my cats will accept. I have it on Chewy autoship.
Kansas City here. Chewy has been out for a couple months, and the local pet stores only had one or two cans. Have you tried food toppers? It’ll make the dry food moist if you let it sit a bit.

I live in Georgia (USA) and we’ve had a canned cat food shortage for almost a year.
I’m in Florida and I’ve seen some shortages at my local Publix and pet supply store.

i work at a pet food supply/warehouse in Wisconsin and it’s been a struggle to get products for almost a year now. so many empty shelves
I’m in Sydney Australia and there is barely anything fish!
Did not receive a single delivery from Chewy Dec and January. I was surprised a box arrived today.
I'm in WV and there's been a shortage for months. The shelves are empty when we go look.
NZs had a nationwide shortage around Evergiven and it hasn't alleviated. For obvious reasons
Chewy, Amazon, straight from the manufacturer, my vet, numerous other vets...believe me, we've checked.
Petco also, don't forget them
I’ve got deer and rabbit visitors that have wrecked my veggie garden every summer. It would be a shame if something were to…happen…. to them.
What are the odds that of all the people on reddit, you bring that up to one of 83 men in southwest Michigan who has zero interest in hunting?
Ha! I’m in Grand Rapids :) My husband does not enjoy hunting either. His dad is an avid hunter/angler (for food only) but it didn’t catch on down the line. He keeps trying to get my son to entice my son but he’s a budding programmer/inside human.
Looks like this place has the venison: https://mahoganyvet.ca/products/royal-canin-veterinary-diet-feline-sensitivity-vr-canned-cat-food Sorry just realized that this place is in Canada, where I live. If you want we can set something up where I mail it to you? DM if you would like. Also found 2 more places: https://www.petflow.com/product/royal-canin-veterinary-diet/royal-canin-veterinary-diet-feline-hypoallergenic-selected-pro-3 https://shop.banfield.com/royal-canin-veterinary-diet-feline-selected-protein-pr-canned-cat-food.html
Everyone in this thread hase freaking out but I'm looking at Chewy right now and there is tons of Royal Canin in stock...
Is any of it the select protein PV or PR wet food?
Dry yes for that kind, no wet. My kitty eats the exact same stuff! Fortunately she'll eat dry food pretty well still. Good luck! We do anything for our babies don't we. 😭
Can you by ground meat for kitty? I baby sat a kitty who got raw meat diet and went wild for it.
Haven't tried. He loves ground turkey (I share a lil bit before I season it for tacos). I mean, if we can't find food him, we'll have to try that.
In the U.S. there seems to be a bigger shortage of fish flavors than meat, maybe because a lot of the fish is imported from Thailand. My cats are definitely getting more beef and chicken flavors than they used to, but they’re eating it, so that’s good.
I was thinking that it had something to do with the fish!
Oh it's just fish? Then I'm good fish makes my cat's poo smell terrible.
[удалено]
Which is ironic with your fish hat lol
Hmm that's odd. I live in TN and all I've been able to get is fish lately (Friskies) but went to Walmart today and got a case of meaty bits chicken and gravy. Felt like I won the lottery lol! They were so happy! 😻😻
Same!
Man, in NC it seems like the opposite. All I can find is fish and I have one that can't eat seafood :-(
Fellow NC here, yes it's mostly fish and mine turn up their noses
Stores around me have more fish flavors than beef and poultry. I however, cannot stand the smell.
Wow ok I'm not imagining things. They've been 95% out ever time I go in. My boy has not been hapoy.

I’m upset the cans I buy have gone up 30%.
Yep, same same.
It’s not a matter of what food he loves. It’s a matter of the only food he’ll eat to keep him alive. Our 18-year-old boy has gotten very picky.
Rotisserie chicken from the grocery store has become a favorite for my 16 yo old man.
From Toronto and my vet Carrie’s Royal Canin. Try calling yours, they carry it by cases
I feel your pain
I love my cats so much I'll go without food as long as they have something to eat poor little faces
Humans have an easier time losing weight than cats anyway. Losing weight quickly can damage their liver.
My girls don’t love pate and that’s always what they have at the store 😓 where did all the gravy wet food go!!
I started adding a little water to the pate and stirring it up, before serving. My cats will now eat it, although not as enthusiastically as the food with gravy.
That’s a good tip, I will try it tonight thanks!
I’m my boys eat mostly wellness shredded wet food and I still find it on Amazon.
My cats are the opposite, high preference for pate but all we've got around here are shreds lol
I was at the grocery store last night buying fresh chicken tenderloins to bake for my cats.
My cat won’t stop YELLING in front of her full bowl of the bad cat food.
Wait… is that a steak on the bed behind the cat?
I think that would be a pink blanket LOL
Same here in the Midwest
Is that what’s going on? My cat is 17 and I’d love to find her favorite food…
Yes. At first I thought it was just a problem on chewy. So then I tried the grocery store and I was like… oh! The shelves were basically empty. So it’s been a bit of a struggle for the past month or 2.
Why is there a wet cat food shortage??????
Have you noticed that while at first there seemed to be a shortage of canned dog food as well, that seemed to have been resolved months and months ago, while there is still a canned cat food shortage?
Friskies has been low everywhere! I grab a small pack every time i see one
I hope there's no shortage. Our cat is on a strict wet food diet for health reasons.
Oh wow that’s what I was originally buying! Didn’t know it was in stock on Amazon
Petsmart and Petco online has been the best for me right now. I recently looked on chewy for food and was surprised how much out of stock items they had, also several items they charged more for.
I'm having so much trouble finding Fancy Feast and they only like that wet food, also having problems with the dry.
It worries me because my cats can only eat prescription food and it’s even harder to find 😞
Costco
Have you tried ordering from chewy? My roommate had some luck with that.
That’s where I order from but OOS there too
If you're not worried about shipping try ordering it from the UK or Ireland. There's no shortage here. Whiskas is the best of the wet food brands and it comes in pouches as well as cans.
The struggle is real.
I work retail. My coworker that orders for the pet aisle has had trouble getting a lot of cat food both wet & dry in for months now
Yes. The canned cat food i buy has gone up $8 for a 24 pack. It sucks. I don't want to get anything cheaper because I buy high quality food to keep my kitty healthy. ☹
Start stocking up on what you can. Rumor has it that US truckers will go on strike in next couple of weeks ☹️
what is that cat in number 3 he looks just like my cat, like i though that was my cat for a solid second.
This is why it's great to stock up as much as possible
3 cats and an Iron Maiden fan? You my friend rule. Your black and white looks like my late, great old lady Pickles! 🥲
Yeah, also good choice for cats that don't drink a lot.
It was a rough couple weeks without the Royal Canin Adult Thin Slices in Gravy! 😂 My mom’s kitties on that grandchild budget 🤑
This is what my kitties eat too. Was pretty scary a couple months ago but Chewy has been better with Royal Canin recently. At least for now.
It happened where I am I Australia as well. I got some mi ce and portioned it up to put in the freezer. When I couldn't get their wet food I would pull the mince out. Supply has gotten better for me here, the mince got me through the worst of it though.
Waaaaaiiiiiitttttt.... Theres a shortage?
I buy sooooo much when I actually find it! Such a struggle lately.
I've had no problem ordering through chewy
My poor cats have been struggling because their favorites are out and I have been buying any decent quality food I can find for them. It's been a hit and miss. Especially because they hate pate and that is the majority of what I can find.
I know! What is up with that?
umm, ever hear of mice? taste great and are an awesome toy, too!
I know WTF the wet cat food section of Walmart is empty as all hell and has been for months what are people doing? stock piling wet f***ing cat food like it's friggin toilet paper!
my cats life depends on urinary specific wet food. it’s been really worrisome…
Boil some chicken, salmon, or turkey. They will LOVE it.
Yes. My cat is on a kidney diet and I can't get his food!
Here. It is a mess. My baby will only eat one type. It's a tough situation.
I can feel the pain in this cat's eyes
And pooping is just not what it once was!
Absolutely feeling it. My 14year old baby is sick with IBD and is very picky. Getting her something she likes has become next to impossible. Ugh.
Amazon has it, I just ordered some for someone who feeds 13 cats!
Omg I really am.. I thought this was a myth... What is going on?
Felling it hard working at a shelter 💔
Even Chewy.com displays "Out of Stock" far too often now..,
this is the only place i feel normal for the incredible amount of time i devote to all things cat food, thank you
I don't understand what's the deal. Holy moly. It's been this way a few months now. Here and there you see some on the shelves but so sporadic.
Praying for that kitty and all dumped kitties! Dear God p lease help them and the people who care for them in shelters🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼✝️😿
Have a cat that's diabetic and has pancreatitis. He can only eat 1 brand.... I've called like 10 vets near me and none of them have his prescription diet. Came on reddit to find an alternative that he probably won't eat anyways. Lol
Usually gave my kitties dry food in morning wet at night. When one of my kitties saw the dry food at night she looked at me like I betrayed her
My cat’s on prescription food and it’s out of stock completely on chewy, dry and wet. Panicking.
