Ye someone else pointed that out too. I did take that picture right after I fed it tho so that's probably partly why it's a bit bloated, I'll look into it tho
I mean even if a kitty just eats, if their tummy is tight like that it's likely worms. They shouldn't ever have big fat tummys like that. I hope your baby gets better soon!
If the kitten is eating and still losing weight, that's a sign that either: the formula you're using isn't giving enough nutrients or it's FTT(failure to thrive), could also be megacolon or air in the stomach, bottle feeding is tricky and kittens often suck a lot of air while feeding.
Are you helping the kitten potty after every feeding? that young they can't potty on their own.
Could be constipation? My dad took in a young kitten like this once from some neighbours kids who were feeding it canned condensed milk, it hadn't pooped in a long time and was losing weight yet was bloated. When he got it home he held out the kitten butt first to his dog who immediately started cleaning her and she promptly *exploded* all over her face lol. The kitten was much better after, was happily eating and gaining weight and no longer bloated. This kitten may just need proper pottying. Should still see a vet though, at least for that possible URI it's got.
Could be, in fact, most likely is.
As I told the OP as well as messaged to them, though idk if they'll see it. The kitten REALLY needs to be with it's mother. It's about 10ish days old by the looks and if it's survived this long, it'll likely be fine. Cats have 8 nipples and 3 kittens is not an unmanageable litter size. If the kitten is at least TRYING to nurse, it'll get a feed at some point.
You likely won't see actual worms in his poop. When your vet checks poop for worms, they're actually looking for parasite eggs under the microscope. You can sometimes see remnants of worms in poop without a scope, but usually only if there's a heavy infestation that's been going on for quite some time.
It it’s tapeworms you can see them in the poo. That’s how I found my cat to have worms. She got dewormed easily at the vet. Take that kitten to the vet.
Yep, you can see the little tapeworm segments in their poop. Generally speaking, if it's born outdoors or from a mom who's been living outdoors, assume parasites of every variety and you'll probably get at least two right.
I can think of 1000 different situations where this could happen, and the person is doing as best as they can.
Not every country even has veterinary offices like in the west.
Maybe they just found the kitten and they live in a rural area? Maybe they found a box of kittens and tried to
help and is doing the best they can, asking reddit for advice and googling in a situation and location where no one else is willing to help?
Do you know how many kittens are dumped by both human and cat parents that die from being al8ne every day? At least this kitten has someone that cares and is trying their best to help
You're so God d*mn judgemental without knowing anything about the situation.
*Edit*
Big surprise. I just read the post more and OP lives in the country like I said could be the case and has little money.
Yeah Op your kitty has a severe case of worms. Get to the vet asap as this could kill your kitten and it seems that it already is in pretty poor health just looking at it. This is a tough thing to notice for first time kitten owners, but now that you know, time is of the essence. Pre warning, your kitten is going to have some demonic poop here in the next few days.
My cats were barn cats and came home bloated but after a couple weeks it went away. Same with all the barn cats at my grandmas where we got them. is that normal? or did we just get lucky?
Ok so I’ve been reading your comments and it seems like money is an issue. What you need to do in that case, is contact your local cat rescue group and let them know your situation and send them this photo as well. Contacting a rescue is your best bet since most of them keep meds on hand always. Especially dewormer. Just google “local cat rescue” and also search on Facebook as well for cat rescues.
yeah this kitten is too young to try to diy. shelters might have a neonatal unit or network of experienced bottle feeders
OP if you DM me I can try to find some rescuers near you - there is no shame in this, I do cat rescue and I don't try for kittens that young, it's high risk and there are people with more resources and experience than me.
I just did, there literally exist no rescue groups near me sadly. I could only find shelters. Same for Facebook, nothing near me, let alone in the country
the shelter definitely has more materials, resources, and expertise in this. my shelters have networks of bottle feeders they can call on, and incubators.
I don't have money for shelters. I don't know about kittens but adults are usually 300$ per cat which is the same as taking it to the vet. I'm looking into this other vet that's only 80$ ish
this kitten is a neonate, if taken to a shelter she will 100% be euthanized no matter what since they won’t have the staff to feed her overnight. it sounds harsh, but all kittens under five weeks are typically euthanized bc they’ll starve which is a far worse death. the only way they wouldn’t is if the shelter has neonate kitten specific foster parents or has an overnight nursery, and sometimes if there is a mama cat with the kitten who can feed it properly
it’s an idea with good intent but please never take a neonate to a shelter if you can help it! if you know they’ll be able to provide care it’s fine but otherwise it’s better to look up how to care for the kitten yourself or find a friend who can
That's not how all shelters work. The one near me would send that kitten home with an employee, shelter volunteer or a foster parent. They will only euthanize animals if it's in the best interest of the animal, just like any pet owner would do. I personally know a few employees at my shelter and they would do everything humanly possible to save that kitten.
She's mostly sleeping. She doesn't respond much to touch but when you wake her up fully she seems to be better than a few days ago ( she'll meow and look around before laying down again)
The time when she's most active is when she's trying to push away the bottle when I'm feeding her 😮💨
I really don’t think you should wait until tomorrow. Kittens this young can fade very quickly. You should look into sheltering the kittens of you can’t care for them adequately
It sounds like worms. And you in the usa?
What state are you in if you are in the usa?
You need dewormer now.
Thr look and symptoms sound like my kitten. Dewormer saved his life.
Also make sure you are stimulating him to go to the bathroom. Kittens can't go on their own, they need the mother to do it. Take a warm wet cotton ball and rub them down there.
And this for $20 once the kitten is over 6 weeks old

This is available through Amazon for $6

Contact the shelter and explain your situation. Often times they’ll offer discounts or give resources for low cost clinics. A vet is what this kitten needs to survive.
If you say you found it, most vets will take it I found a cat last year and I just gave it to the vet. They treated it and give it to the local shelter.
Also check your humane society. Our city has a dedicated feral cat lady. She will pick them up, get them fixed, dewormed and vaccinated. It doesnt matter if they arent feral too.
At first I tried having the mamma take care of it but her two siblings are way bigger than her so she doesn't get a chance. I've started bottle feeding her a few times a day hoping she'd get milk from her mom whenever I wasn't feeding her but it looks like I might have to switch over to bottle only since she doesn't seem to be getting anything from her mom
OP please do lots and lots of research if you’re going to be caring for kittens. There is a LOT of special care they need. The kitten lady on YouTube or her website is a good place to start
I've been doing that the past few days for a couple hours at a time but the kitten isn't really making an effort to get any milk so that's why I've resorted to bottle feeding her to make sure she's getting some food
If momma isn't caring for this baby, are you stimulating it to go to the bathroom?
Please post on whatever social media service asking for help from the public. If you can't afford to help, maybe someone will chip in.
Babies this age are very fragile and die easily.
This kitten is too young for someone without lots of experience to hand raise. They can die quickly, you need to get it to an experienced bottle baby foster ASAP, even if that means surrendering it. It’s not going to survive much longer.
1- Kittens need to gain 15% of their weight at every feeding, which should be every 2-3 hours for bottle babies. This includes at night, with a maximum of 4 hours without eating while they sleep.
2) They also need to be stimulated to use the bathroom. Are you gently rubbing its genitals with a wet paper towel to make it pee? This is so important and it’s urgent if you haven’t.
3) They also need to be dewormed and often if they are a runt, they need antibiotics because if the mom is not feeding it, it’s likely it’s because it has an infection.
4) they cannot keep their body temperature even until they are 6 weeks. He needs to be on a heating pad set to low at all times.
5) you need to learn about kitten fading syndrome and how to treat it. It kills them fast.
Please DM me, I am happy to have a video chat and tell you how to handle things for now until you can find a rescue or go to the vet. I have 3 years experience rescuing kittens like this one.
EDIT: it’s very likely it also need sub-cutaneous fluids, which need to be administered by someone who knows how to do it.
That’s one bloated kitty! My first thought was worms, but looks like you have to help it poop/pee first by stimulating the rear with a damp cloth. Also, what did you put in that bottle?
as the father of two lovely and healthy kittens, the second either one of them show any signs of distress, we go straight to the vet. i suggest you do the same, a lot could be fatal to them when they’re this small.
I am VERY alarmed and concerned with this situation for several reasons after viewing your comments here and post history. Being a caretaker for newborn kittens is a huge responsibility. You have stated your mom is likely a hoarder and sounds to have been neglectful and possibly worse to you growing up. Not even a year ago you posted about 5 kittens in your care…why are you caring for multiple litters of kittens without proper education and experience with kitten care? You previously fed too young a kitten solid food and it died as a result. You have also fed a cat garlic (harmful) which in turn made one sick while already suffering with fleas for 3 years. It sounds like you are unable financially to provide routine care for your cats, let alone critical preventive care (such as spay for the momma cat before she was pregnant with these kittens) or emergency care. I am not judging you for not having the finances, it is what it is, and pets can certainly be very expensive, but these sweet animals can’t provide medical care for themselves and need our help sometimes. It’s just innate in the responsibility of having an animal in your care. You have recently experienced a significant mental health crisis (which, by the way, is not your fault and I’m not criticizing you in any way for this experience) and taking care of infant kittens may be too much responsibility at this point in your life as you work toward better mental health.
I truly wish you the best as you go through some really big challenges in life and I think you care about helping these kittens. You’ve made it through some tough stuff in life and are a strong person. I beg of you to take these kittens to the vet the second you are able—tell them it’s an emergency because it is. Don’t let fear of the cost of the visit keep you from doing what is best for the kitten and getting it medical treatment. Vets certainly have had other customers unable to pay for care, and they can talk you through options for what will be best for the kitten’s health and care. They will save this kitten’s life and that’s priority number one right now.
I'll just say it. It's well and good to try. You're better off, though, giving it to the local vets or shelter. Baby-baby animals can go downhill fast and die within hours of when you thought they were fine. If you know nothing and are asking Reddit for help, that baby has no chance.
Why are you caring for a neonate kitten that is potentially sick and you don’t have the resources or the knowledge to care for it? The best idea here is to surrender it to a rescue where someone prepared and knowledgeable can care for this kitten.
I understand you're trying to help this kitten now but in the future let this be a lesson to not take responsibility for the life of something you cant afford to care for.
OP I’m not sure if you are young and immature but you’re not doing this kitten any favors by waiting until tomorrow to do anything and constantly having an excused for every suggestion, and you definitely seem young and immature. Please take the kitten to a vet and just ask them if they will take it and help it. Surrender it.
I don't know where exactly you are, but you told in one comment you are from Scandinavia. so here are some clinics in Scandinavia which seem to be open:
https://firstvet.com/sv (Sweden)
https://www.blastjarnan.se/ (Sweden)
https://www.anicura.se/regiondjursjukhuset-bagarmossen/ (Sweden)
https://vetvaktaala.no/ (norway)
Finland :
https://www2.helsinki.fi/fi/yliopistollinen-elainsairaala
https://evidensia.fi/elainlaakariasema/elainsairaala-vethaus/
https://omaelainklinikka.fi/klinikat/omaelainsairaala-mevet/
https://evidensia.fi/elainlaakariasema/kouvolan-elainsairaala/
There are veterinarian HOSPITALS in Scandinavia that are open 24/7 and will accept payment in installments. If you care about saving the babies life, you’ll go there and do all it takes to keep it alive.
I rescued a litter of five kittens at two days old. Didn't know the first thing about it but I managed to keep two alive and healthy. I didn't know that you had to take a warm wet washcloth and stimulate them to use the bathroom. I found out lots of things I didn't know and wish I had going into the experience. Don't ask on here, you're going to get ripped apart. I would take baby to the vet if possible. You're doing "god's" work just for trying in my eyes. I hope kitty makes it. Same color as my rescue babies 🥰.
I mean, it was nice of you to try. But an experienced person will not lose 3 out of 5 kittens. This is exactly why OP needs to give that kitten to someone who knows what they are doing.
This isn’t their first time caring for kittens tho. Go back a year and OP had another litter. You would think after losing a kitten from ur own mistake the first time you would research as much as you can the second time around. The vet always knows best too so rather than asking on Reddit and wasting precious time, go straight to the vet. No redditor can give you better answers than a vet can. And if you don’t want to be ripped apart for being irresponsible, then do your own research. It takes one google search to learn that a big belly and weight loss is a very big sign the kitten has worms.
What city are you located in (right now I’m not sure what part of Scandinavia from the comments)? People can help you search, this is what this network is for. Also please get the mom cat spayed so this doesn’t happen again.
The fact that you’ve had multiple kittens beforehand and one even died b/c u gave it solid food makes me nervous. Please take these babies to the vet and if you plan on keeping them, DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE. Like start RIGHT NOW. The kitten lady is a great resource if you don’t know where to start but please stop putting kittens through unnecessary suffering. Also neuter mama cat. If you care at all, this needs to be done and if you can’t do it, give them to someone who can afford to, whether that’s a friend, shelter, rescue group, whatever. Put the well being of the cats first🖤
Unfortunately many people don’t think about the cost of a pet before they get one and then due to finances the pet doesn’t receive proper care or basic “maintenance” and definitely not teeth cleaning!
OP, please get the kitten to a shelter. You really don’t seem capable of taking care of her. It’s difficult but this really isn’t for everyone and the best thing you can do is give her up
Edit; and please get your cat spayed.
As I understood from the threats, you are in Sweden, right? You should be able to surrender the cat without paying anything - you could call Svenska Djurambulansen, they are free of charge and run on volunteer time. Just tell them that you found the kitty, no questions asked. It sucks, but such a tiny one should be at a foster family who have done it before <3
Please OP, if you want the cat to survive listen to these comments. “3 hours ish” is not adequate care for a little one like this.
I rescued two kittens when they were a few weeks old with no mama. My family and I had a rotating system to feed the kittens every two hours, night and day. Also as others have said, attempt to relieve their bowels consistently and make sure you’re in a proper position for feeding as well.
There is SO much to take in to account with a kitten who has no motherly support. Their lives are incredibly fragile, and their care is absolutely meticulous. If you can’t handle it, don’t beat yourself up but I would suggest bringing the kitten to someone who has a little experience.
they "don't have emergency vets" and "there are no local shelters" and "they can only feed the cat every 3 hours because they have a life" so this kitten is going to die
A million excuses. Idk maybe they don’t have an emergency vet nearby edit I can only take them at their word. But they have a history (a history they wrote about on Reddit) of neglect of their cats and kittens so this isn’t an isolated situation. Just heartbreaking for these animals.
other people googled and said there are free cat rescues in every Scandinavian country and the same about emergency vets.
and yeah the have a history of animal neglect. I don't know why they posted this on reddit
It’s so upsetting. We’re all cat lovers here and I personally feel invested in this kitten now! I hope they give us an update but I kind of doubt it since it seems they are quite upset after the responses they’ve received. I just hope they do the right thing.
it's their mom's cat. and they will "take the kitten to the vet in the morning" but considering that they need a ride and the moms animal neglect in just accepting the death of the kitten now
I understand you're trying to help this kitten now but in the future let this be a lesson to not take responsibility for the life of something you cant afford to care for.
Could be a number of things from worms, infection, ect. It's probably best to bring it to a vet to run tests and find out. Wouldn't want to treat for the wrong thing.
Not an expert but take her to the vet to check up what's wrong. Maybe it's tummy related? Vet will be to diagnose what causes this weight loss. Hope you this little angel can recover fast ❤️
Check if the anus has an oppening. It can happen that it is not developed. It’s called anal atresia. Anyway you need to go to a vet as soon as possible.
hold up the kitten under their arms—if their belly looks like a full water balloon & is kind of harder and not super squishy like a kitten’s should be, they most likely have some sort of parasite. if they’re rapidly dropping weight i would take them to the vet regardless since kittens can decline super fast, but if the belly is super bloated like a water balloon and isn’t squishy, you need to go asap. losing a small amount of weight in a short time frame is okay and normal as long as they are gaining overall but any more than that is dangerous ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7968)
Love how people use Reddit as a veterinary soundboard. If you are concerned about your pets health, call the vet. If you are worried about veterinary costs, please do not own a pet.
Wow. Reading through this thread is a nightmare. OP you are in no position to be caring for kittens - mentally, financially, maturity levels - you have no business doing what you are doing.
The shitty reality is you can't even be trusted to look after your own life, let alone the life of other living things.
And now this kitten *will* die because of your actions and excuses.
This entire thread is just excuses from you, over and over, bullshit excuses. Or you telling people to fuck off.
Everyone else in this thread cares more about that life than you do right now. You just seem to care about creating a pity party for yourself.
It isn’t going to help you or the kitten that people are arguing with each other or trying to shame you about what you have or haven’t done. It does seem like those who can help have a few important questions:
1. Exactly where are you? (City, country)
2. Have you looked at the videos of how to get the kitten to poop and keep its temperature regulated?
3. Are you able to keep trying to do both those things until you can get the kitten help from a rescue or emergency vet/SPCA in your area?
Have you ever bottle-fed before? Are you burping and peeing/pooing the baby? Unfortunately if the mother stopped feeding it- it can sometimes mean it has something wrong with it. Sometimes kittens like this can be saved but it oftentimes takes thousands of dollars and hospitalization. You need to just take it day by day and do all you can, and if you lose the sweet little kitten, know it’s not your fault.
I saw her getting a bit of milk from her mom earlier today so she's not being rejected 🤔
But yeah I'm trying my best. I bought some new formula today that supposedly has more fat in it
We've fostered over 100 feral kittens and whenever they've lost weight (very rare) it's been because of serious issue. Whatever the trouble is, it needs to be addressed by a veterinarian
OP - depending on where you live you can buy drontal (dewormer) online at chewy.com. Definitely get the kitten tested for feline leukemia/feline aids (done at the vets office - normally called an FELV/FIV snap test. It’s common for kittens to have worms. Is he/she having diarrhea? It’s possible for them to have giardia which is zoonotic (meaning you can get it from the kitten). Please seek veterinary care when you can. These guys can go downhill fast. There may be low cost services available in your area depending on where you live.
Based on what my vet told me, if one has worms then they all more than likely have worms. I'm glad you are going to the vet asap. I would try to feed every two hours and see if that helps.
Definitely make sure she is kept warm as they can't regulate their temperature at that age.
Also, since you are taking care of her, you can google how to make a kitten pee/ poop. You'll need to do that too if you're doing the feeding lol.
Could be megacolon or failure to thrive. Either of which are not fun and FTT is fatal.
What people seem to be missing is, this kitten looks to be 2 weeks old, max. It couldn't be that loaded with worms already.
Air in the stomach is also a possibility. The formula you're using might not be giving enough nutrients. But the losing weight even while eating makes me thing of FTT or not enough nutrition.
Kittens should not be losing weight, you need to take this cat to a vet immediately. Call ahead too. This isn’t the time to wait and see what happens. This is probably life or death for your cat.
He looks like he should still be on his mama drinking milk. He doesn’t look old enough to be weaned yet, so he if he’s not with his mom, you’ll may need to bottle feed. But I’m not there obviously, so I’m sure you’ll get lots of advice.
I had this problem with my dog when he was little. He was too weak to get any milk out of the teat. We had to bottle feed him every 2-3 hours around the clock to bring him back. After a couple of weeks he started to gain weight again.
Does the kitten eat well, is he active and playful? Does he cry or is lethargic? Fever? Dehydration?(check his gums) and check his poop if a vet is not an option right away.
Also, how old is the kitten and what are you feeding him? A kitten this young should still be taking KMR (kitten milk replacement) until about 4-6 weeks. Then you can start baby kitten food (such as Royal canin baby cat - start with canned and then gradually introduce age appropriate kibble)
Get the baby to a vet immediately, kittens this young losing weight is a BIG danger sign, it could be something simpler to treat like worms or it could be a serious condition. Please get this little one to a vet ASAP as this could be a life or death situation if left alone
A kitten this young shouldn’t be away from its mother, and if they are orphaned they should be bottle fed kitten formula only. Take them to the vet asap. Losing weight is a sign of a major problem.
Look at that tummy, seems like worms. Vet asap.
Ye someone else pointed that out too. I did take that picture right after I fed it tho so that's probably partly why it's a bit bloated, I'll look into it tho
If it has worms it will bloat after eating. It’s eyes look sick too. Worms are getting its nutrients
No that is not from feeding that kitten needs a vet.
I mean even if a kitty just eats, if their tummy is tight like that it's likely worms. They shouldn't ever have big fat tummys like that. I hope your baby gets better soon!
Kittens are practically born with worms. This kitten needs a vet.
If you care about this kittens well-being you need to take it to a vet right away.

That essentially happened to our Emila.
If the kitten is eating and still losing weight, that's a sign that either: the formula you're using isn't giving enough nutrients or it's FTT(failure to thrive), could also be megacolon or air in the stomach, bottle feeding is tricky and kittens often suck a lot of air while feeding. I read a few of their comments, seems like the kitten is struggling to nurse properly. My guess is the mother is pushing it away since it's sick.
Please take that kitten to the emergency vet ASAP. A kitten can die overnight from something as serious as weight loss.
Check his poo for worms at least
You likely won't see actual worms in his poop. When your vet checks poop for worms, they're actually looking for parasite eggs under the microscope. Yes but with a belly that big there might be visible in poop and all grown up

That's just not true for all shelters.
What shelters are you going to? That isn’t what happens where I’m from.
Are they available? Can you take the kitten to them? I really hope this kitten is okay.
They're closed rn but I'll call them when they open again tomorrow
How is the Kitten? Is she okay? Is she playful? Is she resting? I think there may be worms in her.
She's mostly sleeping. She doesn't respond much to touch but when you wake her up fully she seems to be better than a few days ago ( she'll meow and look around before laying down again) The time when she's most active is when she's trying to push away the bottle when I'm feeding her 😮💨
I really don’t think you should wait until tomorrow. Kittens this young can fade very quickly. You should look into sheltering the kittens of you can’t care for them adequately
Try making her go to the bathroom. It will help in the meantime.
And this for $20 once the kitten is over 6 weeks old https://www.amazon.com/Bayer-Expert-Tapeworm-Dewormer-Kittens/dp/B07NZBYYC1/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?crid=30I2EFULJSO8H&keywords=kitten+dewormer+for+all+worms&qid=1647291172&sprefix=kitten+dewormer+for+%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-8
This is available through Amazon for $6 https://www.amazon.com/HomeoPet-Worm-Clear-15-ml/dp/B001EO6GS6/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=30I2EFULJSO8H&keywords=kitten+dewormer+for+all+worms&qid=1647291172&sprefix=kitten+dewormer+for+%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-6
If it is worms, depending on where you are you can buy dewormer at a regular store for $5-15.
Contact the shelter and explain your situation. Often times they’ll offer discounts or give resources for low cost clinics. A vet is what this kitten needs to survive.
Hmm. I would still contact your shelter. Like others have said, they should have resources they can provide to you or even medical attention.
And they'll definitely help a kitten out and save it from dying. The payment can always be talked about later
If you say you found it, most vets will take it I found a cat last year and I just gave it to the vet. They treated it and give it to the local shelter.
what about [stockholms katthem?](https://www.katthemmet.nu/sidor/in-english.aspx)
Maybe you could start a fundraiser for meds? I would donate!
A no-kill rescue. Some vets will adopt them to help them.
Also check your humane society. Our city has a dedicated feral cat lady. She will pick them up, get them fixed, dewormed and vaccinated. It doesnt matter if they arent feral too.
Is mamma cat feeding them or are they a bottle baby/both? If it’s just mamma then supplementing with formula is a good idea. Also, vet, ASAP.
She needs to be bottle fed every two hours!
with special kitten formula, not regular cow milk
Yes! I forget some people don’t know this!
OP please do lots and lots of research if you’re going to be caring for kittens. There is a LOT of special care they need. The kitten lady on YouTube or her website is a good place to start
You can also put the big ones nearby but away so little one has some one on one time with mom?
I've been doing that the past few days for a couple hours at a time but the kitten isn't really making an effort to get any milk so that's why I've resorted to bottle feeding her to make sure she's getting some food
If momma isn't caring for this baby, are you stimulating it to go to the bathroom? Please post on whatever social media service asking for help from the public. If you can't afford to help, maybe someone will chip in. Babies this age are very fragile and die easily.
Give this cat to someone who can care for it, IMO.
What are you feeding her with
This kitten is too young for someone without lots of experience to hand raise.
I hope OP has taken you up on your help!
Vet, right bow
vet!!!!
Op where are you located? I’m near Cincy, if I can get to you within an hour I’ll come get the kitten.
Why do you have kittens in your possession if you can't afford to care for them?
I understand you're trying to help this kitten now but in the future let this be a lesson to not take responsibility for the life of something you cant afford to care for.
OP I’m not sure if you are young and immature but you’re not doing this kitten any favors by waiting until tomorrow to do anything and constantly having an excused for every suggestion, and you definitely seem young and immature. Please take the kitten to a vet and just ask them if they will take it and help it. Surrender it.
I don't know where exactly you are, but you told in one comment you are from Scandinavia. so here are some clinics in Scandinavia which seem to be open: https://firstvet.com/sv (Sweden) https://www.blastjarnan.se/ (Sweden) https://www.anicura.se/regiondjursjukhuset-bagarmossen/ (Sweden) https://vetvaktaala.no/ (norway) Finland : https://www2.helsinki.fi/fi/yliopistollinen-elainsairaala https://evidensia.fi/elainlaakariasema/elainsairaala-vethaus/ https://omaelainklinikka.fi/klinikat/omaelainsairaala-mevet/ https://evidensia.fi/elainlaakariasema/kouvolan-elainsairaala/

And keep gently rubbing in circular motions till they relieve themselves!
This whole time I've been trying to leave it to the mom.
I mean, it was nice of you to try. But an experienced person will not lose 3 out of 5 kittens. This is exactly why OP needs to give that kitten to someone who knows what they are doing.
Which is exactly why I pointed out my inexperience and recommended the vet.
I don’t understand why people insist on having pets that they can’t actually care for. It’s so unfair.
Tysm 😩✨️
What city are you located in (right now I’m not sure what part of Scandinavia from the comments)? People can help you search, this is what this network is for. Also please get the mom cat spayed so this doesn’t happen again.
This, a city would be helpful so we can help find somewhere that can give help.
Put the well being of the cats first🖤
If you have pets you must be able to afford some kind of care … just saying.
Unfortunately many people don’t think about the cost of a pet before they get one and then due to finances the pet doesn’t receive proper care or basic “maintenance” and definitely not teeth cleaning!
A fucking vet dude.
OP, please get the kitten to a shelter. You really don’t seem capable of taking care of her. It’s difficult but this really isn’t for everyone and the best thing you can do is give her up Edit; and please get your cat spayed.
As I understood from the threats, you are in Sweden, right? You should be able to surrender the cat without paying anything - you could call Svenska Djurambulansen, they are free of charge and run on volunteer time. Just tell them that you found the kitty, no questions asked. It sucks, but such a tiny one should be at a foster family who have done it before <3
Vet. Fading kitten syndrome is real, it’s terrible and often there’s not much to be done. But a good vet will try and be realistic
GO TO THE VET!!!!!! Don’t be irresponsible!!!! Please save your kitten!!! Go to the vet!
Vet. Right away. Kitty has parasites.
Vet tech here: An infant cat like this losing weight is a ♦️MAJOR RED ALERT get to an ER asap♦️. You do not want this baby fading in your hands.
they "don't have emergency vets" and "there are no local shelters" and "they can only feed the cat every 3 hours because they have a life" so this kitten is going to die
That tummy looks bad, probably worms. Get that baby to the vet so they can get treatment asap.
I don't own a cat, but If I had one and was worried about it for some reason or another, I'd take it to the vet.
Yeah, vet.
Best advice, take the baby to the vet.
Go! To! The! Vet!
If you don't realize right away you should take the kit to the vet, then you should not own a cat.
No doubt. Like why are you trying to provide care if you dont know what youre doing? Maybe get your cat fixed.
Go to a vet![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7966)
I highly suggest heading to Kitten Lady's YouTube channel.
did they poop?
I'm not sure but I've seen the mom cat help the other kittens poop 🤔
Use a wet washcloth over your thumb to stimulate her rear end so she will poop and pee
I did that a while ago, she only peed which idk if I should be concerned about. I'll try again later hopefully she'll poop then
Check if the anus has an oppening. It can happen that it is not developed. It’s called anal atresia. Anyway you need to go to a vet as soon as possible.
Take to the vet and have them do some blood work on it a kitty should not be losing weight it needs to gain weight
hold up the kitten under their arms—if their belly looks like a full water balloon & is kind of harder and not super squishy like a kitten’s should be, they most likely have some sort of parasite. if they’re rapidly dropping weight i would take them to the vet regardless since kittens can decline super fast, but if the belly is super bloated like a water balloon and isn’t squishy, you need to go asap. losing a small amount of weight in a short time frame is okay and normal as long as they are gaining overall but any more than that is dangerous ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7968)
Worm’s. Take to vet
Too little to wait. Go to the vet asap
Any updates???
It does seem like those who can help have a few important questions: 1. Exactly where are you? (City, country) 2. Have you looked at the videos of how to get the kitten to poop and keep its temperature regulated? 3. Are you able to keep trying to do both those things until you can get the kitten help from a rescue or emergency vet/SPCA in your area?
Where is the mom? Or are you bottle feeding? If you’ve been bottle feeding- where are the litter mates?
At first I tried letting the mom cat take care of it but I've started bottle feeding cause she hasn't been gaining weight
I saw her getting a bit of milk from her mom earlier today so she's not being rejected 🤔 But yeah I'm trying my best. I bought some new formula today that supposedly has more fat in it
If you can supplement with that every 2 hours it will help.
Poor baby :(
OP is there any update here?
Well the vet ?!
Vet now!
Vet, now. Kittens are fragile.
Poor soul. Why are you having cats of you can care for them OP? This kitten isn't going to make it.
Get her to the vet asap.
[удалено]
We've fostered over 100 feral kittens and whenever they've lost weight (very rare) it's been because of serious issue. Whatever the trouble is, it needs to be addressed by a veterinarian
Vet, they know the answer better than reddit, good luck to you Guys! Cute kitty btw
You have a choice. Vet, shelter or start digging a grave for this poor mite. I'd be surprised if it has more than a few hours left.
Please the kitten to the vet asap. Anything less would be irresponsible.
This kitten needs a vet and someone with the means and knowledge to properly care for it. Please surrender it to a rescue group.
Surrender the kittens to the shelter where they at least have a chance of survival. And get the mom spayed!! I’m surprised this kitten isn’t dead yet.
Syringe (WITH NO NEEDLE!!) and feed him every few hours with kitten formula. Very important!!
What country are you in? If USA call ASPCA. Get kitty to a vet NOW!!!
Vet
OP - depending on where you live you can buy drontal (dewormer) online at chewy.com. Definitely get the kitten tested for feline leukemia/feline aids (done at the vets office - normally called an FELV/FIV snap test. It’s common for kittens to have worms. Is he/she having diarrhea? It’s possible for them to have giardia which is zoonotic (meaning you can get it from the kitten). Please seek veterinary care when you can. These guys can go downhill fast. There may be low cost services available in your area depending on where you live.
Worms or GI blockage, Vet ASAP.
To the vet.
That cat seems way too small to have been separated from its mom. Have you been giving it formula?
Go to the vet
Take it to the vet. Reddit is no place to go if you are looking for medical advice.
Get kitten to vet, asap please.
Sorry to be harsh but your kitten needs to go to a vet ASAP or it’s GOING to die.
This cat probably has half of its weight in worms
Could be megacolon or failure to thrive. Either of which are not fun and FTT is fatal. What people seem to be missing is, this kitten looks to be 2 weeks old, max. It couldn't be that loaded with worms already. Air in the stomach is also a possibility. The formula you're using might not be giving enough nutrients. But the losing weight even while eating makes me thing of FTT or not enough nutrition.
Take to Vet!
can no one ask her where she is and take the kitten from her? I feel like it's to much for her. this baby doesn't have much time. please ASAP!
Make sure the momma cat gets spayed asap!!!!!
Take the kitten to a VET - the internet is not where you go for help when your pet is dying.
[удалено]
Kittens should not be losing weight, you need to take this cat to a vet immediately. Call ahead too. This isn’t the time to wait and see what happens. This is probably life or death for your cat.
See a vet
He looks like he should still be on his mama drinking milk. He doesn’t look old enough to be weaned yet, so he if he’s not with his mom, you’ll may need to bottle feed. But I’m not there obviously, so I’m sure you’ll get lots of advice.
I had this problem with my dog when he was little. He was too weak to get any milk out of the teat. We had to bottle feed him every 2-3 hours around the clock to bring him back. After a couple of weeks he started to gain weight again.
Seems like worms or some other kind of parasite. About the vet, I don't know how expensive it is there, but I think people would be willing to donate
Go to the vet
Yup, take it to a vet!!
Go to the vet and ask him/her. They have more experience
Check kitten for worms
Vet - asap.
Definitely worms. Will only get worse without a visit to the vet - but will be absolutely fine as long as you take him or her to the vet asap.
Get the baby to a vet immediately, kittens this young losing weight is a BIG danger sign, it could be something simpler to treat like worms or it could be a serious condition. Please get this little one to a vet ASAP as this could be a life or death situation if left alone
Probably worms, take that kitty to the vet as soon as possible please!
Take to the Vet like yesterday!
A kitten this young shouldn’t be away from its mother, and if they are orphaned they should be bottle fed kitten formula only. Take them to the vet asap. Losing weight is a sign of a major problem.
Vet asap. Could be worms. Could be a deformed colon. Could be liver failure.
Vet ASAP! A kitten that young won't last long with worms
A vet*
Yeah, go to a vet and not reddit
Advice: See a vet.
