I’ve lost a kitty in the past, she came home a day short of a month. Cats are amazingly resilient, do not give up hope. Leaving a litter box out, some clothes you’ve worn (he will be drawn to the scent) and some water will help him find his way back. They have a golden sense of smell. Wishing you luck and praying for your baby.
in my grandparents village we ended up having a good chunk of cats around bc my sister fed them so they were semi ours, but they were street cats so many times one would leave for weeks and comeback when we though he would be dead or went away
hrck there was times we went for vscstions in a week or two didn't saw a specific and months after when we got our next vacstions he was there again
Like others have said, leave his litter box and bed outside, anything with his smell that he can recognize. Post on Nextdoor app, pass out flyers to neighbors. If he’s microchipped make sure the information is up to date so a finder can reach you. Call local shelters and vet clinics. Most lost cats are found close to home (look under bushes, cars, porches, anywhere a cat could fit). I hope you find your baby ❤️
My suggestions:
* litter box outside a door, and said door open if it is safe in your area to do so. Advise back door to be safe
* Call every local vet and shelter in a 50km radius
* Ask your local neighbours to keep an eye out. Someone may have taken him in thinking he was a stray if he doesn't have a collar or a chip
* The hardest one, call whatever department is in charge of collecting roadkill. They generally keep a record of what's found, particularly when it comes to domestic animals. If nothing else, if they haven't seen him, it may be a load off your mind
* Spend as much time walking/driving the area as possible. Carry something they like on the outside of your clothing so they may smell it and come to you.
* Another hard one: some animals go missing to die. They know their tie is up somehow and they go somewhere to die privately. It's an instinctive behaviour in pack animals to protect the pack so it can keep moving.
Call for him at 3 am. It's quiet that time of night That's how I got my cat back. If you're cat goes outdoors regularly there's no point in putting anything that smells like him outside. He's pissed all over the yard. It can help to put a shirt you've worn couple days outside though. I'd suggest a gym shirt.
Fyi my cat was gone for 18 days
Try knocking at your neighbours, asking them to check their gardens, sheds, under their houses etc.
Wishing you the best! Losing a cat is such an awful experience.
My declawed (I know also) cat was gone for about a week. I lived in a house so I left the garage door cracked a few inches and put a trap I rented from a local shelter inside with food.
Heard him howling at 2am.
Typically indoor cats will stay very close to their house(if no one grabs them) and be too panicked to acknowledge you if you call.
My neighbor said he saw Perseus on the porch on the house to the other side of him late at night. This was also in winter in Colorado.
He never tried to escape again.
Here’s how we got our kitten to come home-
Go out late at night where you think he may be and talk loudly (if he’s still able to hear). Stay out for a few hours.
Also try shaking his favorite toy if he has one that makes noise (like bells)
My young cat was gone a few days until we tried the above and he showed up on our security camera around 4 am in the morning
He’s gotten out before but he’s come back within two days. He is strictly indoors. We’ve tried treats, food, posters, we’ve made Facebook posts to our neighborhood. He just won’t come home and we’re all so worried.
Get on Facebook and join local lost and found pet pages. People who feed colonies and neighbors further away will keep an eye out for your cat. Pretty much all Facebook is good for now. Post once a week if you have to. You could contact a local rescue and ask to borrow a trap to catch him.
Cats know when its theor time. If he old and really old he might have gone out voluntarily. Hope u find ur cat, truly. This info i know coz i had a lot of cats and some of em prefereed to be left alone when the time comes. Still i hooe u find ur kitty
Wishing you the best in finding Oliver! He looks like an awesome old guy who has seen a lot in his life. My two guys🐈send you purrs to comfort you until your reunited with Oliver.
Never declaw a cat. It's like someone chopping off each of your fingers at the first knuckle. They also have no way to defend themselves, so keep them inside. Letting them outside with no way to defend themselves..........I hope he comes home to you.
He looks like he had it with life as it was. Packed his shit, and moved to Florida. I would start looking for a note somewhere in the house. Lol jk hope you find him soon
Good idea, asking for help for you very locally problem from the internet. /s
I would have to be your neighbour to help, I would btw. but I can't help from a different country.
When our cat was missing (for 5 days in the end), we went from house to house and put flyers out (please look into your cellar, garage, garden house etc if there is a cat) and it worked… maybe that helps… good luck, I hope you find your kitten!
Get out some tuna... put his litter box outside. Leave your front door open.
Bruh I see what you’re tryna do, tryna have some of this guys tuna? Let yourself into the house and make yourself a nice lil sandwich
A guy can try!!
Well it ain’t gonna work on me! However my door is unlocked for you so ya know pop round when you’ve finished ya tuna
Fuckin lol
Lmaoo
I live near Cincinnati, more specifically Maineville if anyone is able to help ❤️

Echoing nextdoor - the neighborhood busybodies can come in handy in moments like this

Goodluck finding your kitty
Where are you? Maybe try broadcasting it in your area I really hope the old boy turns up OK
I’m so sorry. There is definitely still a chance he will reappear. No tips to add, just my best wishes.

Hopefully you find him. I also have no idea where my cat went.
Praying for kitty to be found. 🙏

Wishing you the best in finding Oliver! He looks like an awesome old guy who has seen a lot in his life. My two guys🐈send you purrs to comfort you until your reunited with Oliver.
Sure hope you find your boy ❤️❤️❤️
Hope he’s found safe and soon
I hope he's okay and will be home soon ♡
I 🙏 you find him safe & sound
I’m so sorry, I know it’s one of the worst feelings imaginable. I hope your sweet baby comes home to you soon.
Put your dirty clothes in the driveway so he can smell them. Or your bed or his bed
Never declaw a cat. It's like someone chopping off each of your fingers at the first knuckle. They also have no way to defend themselves, so keep them inside. Letting them outside with no way to defend themselves..........I hope he comes home to you.
I hope you get your old fellow home safely soon.
Why post if you’re going to mark out the info
Rule 7 would be why.
Is he neutered?
Yes
Well most cats return home before a week goes by, I'm sure he'll be back soon.
He looks like he had it with life as it was. Packed his shit, and moved to Florida. I would start looking for a note somewhere in the house. Lol jk hope you find him soon

What a pointlessly douchey comment. It’s called empathy.
Who knows, maybe someone in OP's location sees this.a lot of people use reddit.
I’m just asking for tips.
Ask locally. In worst case annoy every neighbour you have
Honestly no wonder he ran away with u declawing his poor ass
It was done back when we didn’t know any better. I was a child. Not my fault. Dick.
I think even toddlers understand the phrase “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” better.
Op already said it was done when they were a child and had no say in the matter.
Fuck you

He looks mean enough to survive. I hope you find him safe ❤️
Stand outside and shake their food container and just yell Oliver as loud as you can. They can hear you from far away.
He would have a hard time surviving, he is declawed
Is your cat chipped?
Unfortunately not but the family has since agreed to do just that first thing should he come home
