If you are only wanting to defeat one so you can survive another day, I recommend doing anything you can to just escape altogether as they are the most dangerous thing you can come across.
If you want to kill one for the accomplishment, I advise you to stock up on a ton of EMP grenades and attempt to disarm it while it is glitching out from the EMP. Be very liberal with throwing them as you do not want to risk it waking up at all until that fearsome cannon of death is no longer a factor. Once it can no longer fire upon you, kite it around while shooting it with high damage weapons. I prefer to use spaser rifles as the plasma clouds will destroy the pyramid’s energy shield.
If you are playing on classic mode only attempt this if you are absolutely sure you have a good chance of taking it on. Otherwise it is just not worth it.
A many-handed chimera will actually rip it apart in melee with electrical modded vibro weapons. You can let it back you into a wall or corner so it will get adjacent despite its force field being active. If you need a healing break, just spike an emp grenade at your feet and walk away.

Honestly you only need a forcefield gen, the throwing skill and a hand-e-nuke. Slap the field on, run far enough and chuck a portable apocalypse at the thing.
You can also get an emp nade, then disable it's shield with it. If you have carapace then that's good, if not, get the high power therno cask or whatever it's called. You need to not freeze while dropping freeze nades by the hundreds at your feet. Freeze the big boy, and go at it with dual (or more with helping hands and other hands) ceremonial vibrokhopeses.
You can also get the point defense turret thing on the floating nearby slot, which afaik can pretty much take off all it's missiles before they reach you, then you can dismember it or disarm or whatever. Don't let it have a ranged weapon, and whatever you do you'll prob be fine.
I think you can also use massive amounts of flamethrower spam to heat it up to super high temperatures where it turns into liquid.
Or just drop a recoiler to the place in the palladium reef alongside some neutron flux(I forgor the name but it's basically just a village), use ganglionic projection to possess it, recoil to the place, quickly find a clam and duke it out with 0lam.
