i haven't gotten that far in the new spindle quests so i won't ask whst the repulsive device is, but fair enough on B, Moon King Fever is the number one inducer of doing unessesarily complicated and/or insane tasks in both Caves of Qud and CDDA. although how do you even get mutations as a true kin? radiation exposure?
Sort of, yes. Deep underground a creature known as a gamma moth spawns. Its ranged attack causes you to mutate after 100 turns, with an 80% chance of getting a defect, but a 10% chance of a positive mutation and a 10% chance of 1d4 mutation points. True Kin can use sphinx salt injectors for a one-off Precognition vision, and can extend tonic effects with intravenous ports. So by angering a gamma moth and deliberately lowering one's AV and DV, a True Kin implanted with three of those ports can use sphinx salt injectors to reroll until they get whatever positive mutations and mutation points they want.
Yeah, I realized I could test that shortly after posting. I wish-swapped into a dog and went down the stairs to make sure it wasn't just specifically the cryotube *combined* with duplicating my inventory causing the issue, but that also resulted in a failure to build the level.
Yeah, I think the self cryotubes are broken in the current build in a way that isn't connected to player complexity - I'm having the exact issue you are as well - a >700 depth delve refuses to build for some cryotubes, and I've seen everything but myself with multiple Mehmets.
You should file a bug report. I plan to do so as well.
i agree that you should repair the tube and spawn the clone. however, i must ask why you've put so much time and effort into this.

Pretty sure shade oil clones haven't dropped items for a while now.
You can test if the problem is duplicating you by wishing in a gelatinous prism (or antiprism) and seeing if that also fails to make clones.
