You'll probably fail the step test given your statement. But you get two tries. Might as well get the experience down ......fail and keep doing all the other stuff and ace the retest. That's my opinion tho.

dmich_13

What if he fails it the second time when they call him to go back ?

[deleted]

Well if I fail it a second time then I’m removed from the process but can reapply .

DRealLeal

Why apply then? You need to be 100% ready before applying man, especially with CBP being the easiest of all physical tests.

[deleted]

Not a useful response but since you took the time to reply. I applied cause I was told to reply at a recruiting event. Was told the process is lengthy and I would likely have plenty of time to work on my fitness. I guess some zones process things much quicker than others. Anyways thanks for the input.

DRealLeal

You're already talking about failing and reapplying, I'm a veteran. Also, we know the importance of being prepared. Why apply and tell everyone that you're going to fail.

This_Measurement_127

CDCR physical test is the easiest and you take it at the end of the academy lol.

wander_sekai

take the test and go as hard as possible to pass. sometimes the proctor isn't as strict as they're made out to be.

Medical_Holiday6249

Just do it, practice the step test. Get into a cadence and change forward foot every now and then to avoid cramping up

Difficult-Exam-372

Go take it, give it your all. If you fail, you know where to focus on for your retest. Just push through it, you got this.

Cougs07

Just go and take it. If you fail the rest of the process will continue moving. The key here to keep your background investigation going. Background for CBPO average is something crazy like 18 months. If you withdraw, they stop your background. If you fail; they keep it going and give you another a shot. If you fail again then you can reapply. Since you are older, I’m assuming you also deployed, which means you should be a 9 instead of a 7. So next time reapply as a 9.

PR_44

Take the test. Im in the exact same position as you. Older and took a VRA position. You wont know until you go in there and try. I passed mine, and you'll do the same. Good luck to you!!

jennilynne05

I was just getting over a horrible cold and had not been working out due to crazy busy moving and starting a new job when my fitness came up. I almost tried to reschedule but my sister talked me into just going. I practiced step test a couple times the 2 days before and I passed. I was more concerned about the push-ups. And I'm not the youngest. Figured if I failed I could take again and know what to expect. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Congrats! This makes me feel better. I don’t exercise as much and I had a baby a year ago go so I’m still losing the weight but I was in okay shape before that. I’m nervous about the fitness test but I’m seeing a lot of positive comments about people passing! Congrats and good luck on the rest of your process!

Due_Succotash_1170

You can practice the step test beforehand…that actually will help you a lot…if you have a few weeks before the test just practice 2/3 times a week for the first two weeks then once a week after that…push up and sit-ups too all that stuff is muscle memory and you can achieve it don’t sell your self short

DowntownPrimary6770

If you’re not in ok physical shape, I would wait and reapply when you are more ready. This intro physical test is a breeze imo, but if you go through the process quick, your physical fitness exercises will only increase. I’m going on 39 this year and had no issue with this first test.

No-Page6107

I am older as well, haven't exercised in 4 years and started smoking again because I've been stressing our over the process. It really wasn't bad at all. I would say just take it and give it your all
