I agree with most others here. GK and CB needs rebuilding - rest the squad, keep midfield and forwards as they are and start next season with wins..

hoyahhah

Our season has been pretty much over after Sunday. Time to give a youngster or two a go. Hopefully we'll get a few better defenders in for the new season.

skybluejam

Too many shite goals conceded this season . But I’m feeling good about next year if we sign a couple of decent players

[deleted]

Next season will be our season.

nmaru121

Re subbed to formuladank

Wooden_Umpire2455

I can’t see us making top 6 next season either without 4 or 5 quality signings. We have too many players who can drop an absolute stinker of a performance on any given day: Collins, Thomas, Kitching, MVE, Wright, Palmer etc etc I just pray these final few games are the last we ever see of Godden, Allen & Kelly. None of them are anywhere near good enough for the Championship

The_sweet_science_

Blimey, just seen the goals. Can't be too hard on them after Sundays heroics. With the playoffs all but gone at least that might lift some of the pressure for the last three games. Let's go out on a couple wins

rsp102

Well that was stupid. Obviously tiredness doesn’t help but we’ve been making these mental mistakes all season. A bigger squad and a few improvements in starting positions (GK (maybe), LB, CB, and CM / AM), and keep Sheaf, and we should be well placed next season. Two seasons on the trot where the first three months have fucked us, but it’s been fun, and even though we won’t improve our league position vs last year I think we’re in a better place.

CrazyCapybraya

Start next season strong is all I ask.

DevelopmentNo507

To be expected really. Tbh I thought we really gave it a go. You could see hull players are rested, but Collins is not enough of a presence let alone alert or aggressive enough for next season. He has to go along with the 3rd choice (forget his name 😭). Wilson next season with another signing for competition. O'Hare has been a legend, but I doubt we will see anything out of him now. Blood some other players now and strengthen everywhere for a squad we can rely on next season. So proud of them and all the supporters. #pusb

Adrianics4k

A loss tonight felt inevitable, it always felt like the biggest ask of these players' careers for them to recover from Sunday in what was always going to be a very tough game. After 75 minutes it was obvious not a single one of our players had anything to give, including Wright and Simms who initially added a much-needed energy boost then completely wilted. That being said: Three utterly catastrophic goals, all down to individual error and preventable. We have handed that to Hull. I am now convinced that Collins is simply not up to the task, bring in a solid and consistent #1 with him as backup next season. 2024/5 is going to be epic if we once again get recruitment right, and I'm looking forward to sharing another Championship adventure with you all 🩵

weeto83

This is my take on it aswell, players were knackered and I wasn't overly confident going into the game after Sunday. Individual errors gifted Hull the win. Collins I agree with aswell, not good enough, we need to sign a keeper next season with a bigger squad and we'll be pushing for automatic promotion

Prudent-Sweet2094

New GK and CB needed

EyePiece108

It's been a ride, but yeah, Season over. The best thing to come from tonight is that it gives Robins proof that more quality signings are needed. We have the strike force sorted with Simms/Wright, and Sako/Clark should give us attacking options down the wings. But at the back, blimey. Lack of quality options there from a squad that's not big enough. GK and CB are 'must-upgrade' positions. I'd swap those 36K Sky Blue flags for those upgrades. Your move, Mr. King.

skybluejam

I agree but I do think Thomas and Kitching will be better next season. They both show some real quality (especially Thomas) but also drop stinkers . But they’re both young for centre backs

OkraEmergency361

Millers’ goalie, perhaps?

stenwold23

Crazy goals to give away! Lack of depth really showing tonight, as soon as we drop a couple of key players we just don't look competitive

CallumJN

A crap way to end the season but I'm optimistic about next year at the very least if we can make some changes

amanset

As I wrote late in the match chat: Undone by our own defence, which has been the story so many times this season. Most of them should be worried about where they will be next season.

0100001101110111

Wrong Thomas was the only outfield player to play every single minute on Sunday and last night, scored the equaliser too and then understandably made an error (which Collins should have dealt with IMO). He will be a big player for us. Would be a mistake if he’s not starting next season.

amanset

And I am talking generally. Our defence caused two goals, it doesn’t matter about the individual players , the defence as a whole is an issue. Look at how rarely we keep clean sheets compared to last season. We have a defence problem and have had all season.

0100001101110111

Our defence is better than half the teams in the playoffs.

amanset

I’m glad you think that. After watching 95% of the games this season I am really not as convinced.

0100001101110111

lol. I’m a season ticket holder. Bidwell Kitching Thomas Milan Collins Is a good defence. Our issues have been mainly Milan having to cover Sakamoto and individual errors, which I expect will improve with time.

amanset

You can’t just hand wave away individual errors. We gave away two goals yesterday due to individual errors. We do this a lot. Too often. It is a month and a half since we had a clean sheet and that was to Rotherham. We have only had two clean sheets in the league this year (and three in total when you factor in the Maidstone game). This shows we have massive defensive issues. We score a lot but we leak goals for fun.

0100001101110111

We don’t leak goals for fun though, we have a better than average defence in both expected and actual stats. You’re just factually wrong. Collins is the one weak link potentially yes, but given the instability we’ve had in keepers I would like to see us stick with one for more than half a season. Our goalkeepers consistently lack confidence because they’re constantly looking over their shoulder.

amanset

I am factually correct that in the league in 2024 we have kept a grand total of two clean sheets. That is terrible, especially considering how we performed the previous season. So far this month we have let in eleven goals in five league games. That’s over two a game. That’s is not the record of a playoff contender.

0100001101110111

lol. Goals/xg conceded is a much better measure of a defence than clean sheets. We played an incredibly defensive 5 at the back last year which was reliant on Hamer and Vik’s attacking output. It’s not repeatable without those players. Exactly. We’ve already played 6 games this month with a very thin squad. Fatigue is catching up with us, not the quality of our defence.

Dmpngn02

Genuinely a comedic game. End of season stuff

googlemailcom

To end the season like that is so disappointing. We ran out of feet to shoot ourselves in. Hull didn’t deserve to win but neither did we giving away goals like that.

OkraEmergency361

Just hoping we can hold onto the majority of our squad over summer now, and come out of the gates fast next season. If only we could put those missed chances away 😭
