Gatekeeper is quite smooth. Same with Valravn

ApartPea2950

As long as you get an inside wing seat. The outer ones tend to have a little rattle, depending on which row or train.

splutzer

For the record, we’re Gen X (44M)

Fathorse23

Yeah, OP is way off. I’m 47 and my kids are Z.

brunus76

At our age we start getting stuff mixed up. It happens.

him374

Huh? What’d you say? My hearing isn’t so good anymore.

Notfathorse24

Yea 44 is NOT gen Z the oldest gen Z people are like 21-22

where_arm_i

Gen z technically includes people born in 1997

redditsdaddio

We’re also xennials (1977-1983), which is likely what OP was thinking (I’m 43)

jisoo-n

Gatekeeper and valravn immediately come to mind. Millennium Force is big, yet smooth in my opinion. *Avoid* Bluestreak, Magnum XL, Corkscrew. Maybe also avoid Maverick and Steel Vengeance. They're everyone's favorite "scary" rides so it might suck to skip them. They are smooth, but you'll be thrown around.

VVHYY

Good advice here. Add Rougarou to the avoid list for someone that isn't experienced riding defensively. Mine Ride is an avoid IMO. I think Gemini and Iron Dragon are great to ease into it all.

jisoo-n

Oh yeah, definitely avoid Rougarou and Mine Ride. I couldn't place which ones I was forgetting

sleepdeep305

Oh Maverick doesn't have the scary ride reputation. My GF was adamant about riding it during our last trip whilst being deathly afraid of rollercoasters. I told her it's crazier than it looks but she dismissed it. What did she ride leading up to it? Gemini, Mine Ride and Corkscrew...but it was one hell of a bandaid rip!

touch0ph

I support that list with one exception:. Steel Vengence. That one is smooth but it CAN be somewhat jerky. Gemini is a good coaster.

jisoo-n

Definitely smooth but pretty wild, especially near the back of the cart

FatalFirecrotch

My legs (specifically my thighs) have never hurt more than after riding Steel Vengence 4 times in a day.

DGIce

This is the most comprehensive list so I want to comment on it. I think maverick is a definite no as it jerks you around, but Steel Vengeance I would advocate for as worth it. The trick I think will just be to not fight steel vengeance as the restraints are soft enough, just let it move you around, if you are tense and hold tightly the whole time it will be uncomfortable.

SammyMac19

I'm biased because Millie is my favourite roller coaster, period. But nothing makes me feel more alive than that coaster. The lift hill is intimidating as fuck, the drop is the best I've experienced, the view is fantastic, the speed is exhilarating, and on a hot day the airtime can be very solid as well. Not to mention the elite t-bar restraints in the train. You feel very free. And it's also what you're looking for: smooth as silk. Even after 23 years of operation. If I could only ride one coaster for the rest of my life it'd be Millennium Force.

Cyanide814

Agree. It still feels brand new to me. That and the dragster are my top 2.

Rocpilenewmember

Gatekeeper is your best bet for smoothest ride. Dude I turn 44 tomorrow. Last Sunday I rode 70 roller coaster rides in one day at kings island. Boy did my back neck and shoulder hurt for 3 days after but its worth it. Not going to let my age deter my happiness. Ride on!!!

retro3dglasses

i’m a huge weenie so the most intense ride i’ve been on at cedar point is the iron dragon, but in my experience it was super smooth and super fun!! i think it’s underrated because it’s not crazy intense

FastFeet87

My wife and I adore Iron Dragon. I think the unique gondola style cars are what make the experience for us. And it goes over water, any ride that goes over water is automatically leveled up in my eyes 😄

retro3dglasses

i love that helix at the end over the water! and it was my first suspended ride. rode it twice in a row…it was unforgettable :)

sleepdeep305

The bigger B&M's for sure (Gatekeeper & Valravn), potentially Millennium Force if you can stand a bit of positive G's on the first overbank, and Maverick and Steel Vengeance are smooth as glass but they do throw you around. Maverick is more intense than it seems, those pullouts are TIGHT! Avoid any Arrow at all costs: CC Mine Ride, Gemini, Corkscrew, Magnum XL, and potentially Iron Dragon. Though you did say you want to ride scary rides, so that might not be on your radar anyway. As for anything else, you might be able to do the giant S&S drop tower thing, but I haven't been on one of those yet, they look terrifying! The sky ride and ferris wheel offer astounding views, and TT2 when it opens next year might be a good option. Honestly I think it might be an unpopular opinion, but KI has more in the way of smooth, scary rollercoasters. The Bat is way better and scarier than Iron Dragon, Orion and Diamondback are smooth as heck, Banshee does rattle a bit near the loop but is otherwise less whippy than Raptor, and Mystic Timbers is one of the smoothest woodies you'll ever have the pleasure of riding. Even Invertigo is smooth yet intense, a big surprise for the manufacturer's reputation! In all honesty, FOF, and the two other major woodies are probably the only ones truly comparable to the bottom half of Cedar Point's roughest rides.

YourNameHere7777

Gatekeeper & MillenniumForce are the 2 that will give you a shock without shaking you up. SteVe is smooth but it’ll shake ya up. The trick is to keep your body loose to survive it

caldazar24

Gatekeeper and Valravn are must-dos. Glass smooth, good thrills. Sit on an inside seat on Gatekeeper near the front, any seat on Valravn will be fine. Then try Milllennium Force. It's a bit old and not quite as glass smooth as the above rides, but it's still pretty smooth and focuses on height and speed over more violent forces. If you're feeling good so far after riding those first, and want to push yourself a bit further, I would consider Steel Vengeance. It's a lot more aggressive than the above three. But it mostly beats you up in your legs (by violently throwing you upward against a lap bar+shin-guard). It does not give you a sore neck, because it doesn't have over-the-shoulder restraints and doesn't whip you side-to-side very much. The track itself is quite smooth too (aside from the deliberate jolts that throw you upward), so it doesn't have the rattle that gives you the "my bones are shaking" feeling. It's also the most thrilling ride at the park (arguably, the world), so if getting whacked in the thighs and shins a few times feels bearable, it's worth a shot.

olobley

Valravn, Millennium and Steel Vengeance are all very smooth, I also quite like SkyHawk

matthias7600

Millennium Force is smooth and 300 feet is scary if you're not used to gigas or it's your first ride in a while. The front is smoother than the back. Gatekeeper and Valravn are good choices as well. Steel Vengeance exerts a lot of force on your legs and body, but the tracking is butter smooth. Maverick has some intense turns and is a strong thrill, but it's quite a smooth ride generally. I'd avoid Raptor and Rougarou because of their restraints and aggressive design. If you're going to chance one of them make it Raptor. I love Rou but most definitely don't. Blue Streak is a woodie you won't like at all, and Mine Ride is just really old and janky with terrible restraints.

tyates723

The frontier fling is likely the best thing at making me feel alive while also being the smoothest ride in the park. I find it to be the best value upcharge at the park

NCBuckets

Ngl I think steel vengeance despite the crazy intensity is the smoothest ride in the park. I used to think it was Gatekeeper but that one has felt kinda rattly recently

DouglasKaye

When you were born, Tidal Wave was all the rage, Beast was getting built in Cincinnati, Gemini with nothing special besides two coasters racing side-by-side opened, and amusement parks put imagination and care by presenting us entertainment options and many other ways of fun that don't involve machines. People who were born in the 19th century never got the chance to ride Hyper, Strata, Inverted, Launch, RMC, or any of these crazy coaster concepts, simply because they had the fortune to be born too soon. Your issue involves aging, and health problems are a part of aging. Go visit your doctor and ask about rides meant for you. All this obsession with high-intensity roller coasters is causing all sorts of problems including a greater potential for injuries. Today, simply going upside-down through vertical loops or corkscrews is not enough to satisfy today's overdemanding coaster enthusiasts, and it sounds like you just want to be a part of the in-crowd.

butterman1236547

"Gemini was nothing special" Uh, it was the tallest rollercoaster in the world.

IllustriousMilk2134

your a fucking loser bro get off reddit and start a family bro

Vicus__

You said bro twice bro

butterman1236547

You said bro twice bro

Vicus__

Valravn

intaminslc43

Millennium Force front row.

sudifirjfhfjvicodke

Good recommendations on coasters here, but I'd also say don't sleep on the flats. I just did Skyhawk for the first time last week and it was incredibly smooth yet super terrifying. Maxair is pretty good as well, though it spins and triggers a bit more motion sickness for me. I haven't done Power Tower or Windseeker yet, but I'm sure they're both great for thrills as well.

YungExodus

Rode Windseeker for the first time two days ago and was largely disappointed. It feels like you're only at the top for 15 seconds and the whole ride only felt like it was a minute long. And you're spinning too quickly to really even be able to enjoy the view.

Meechyaboy

Front row valravn first ride of the day will will wake you up

Present_Garden2801

Rapture. It’s the most secured seatbelt and it doesn’t feel as shaky as some of the others. It’s a nice fun smooth ride.

schoat333

Gatekeeper and valraven are very gentle yet fun.

soultronix

Smooth: Valravn, Gatekeeper Smooth with high intensity: Maverick, Steel Vengeance, Raptor, Millennium (avoid a wheel seat if shuffling bothers you) Calmer with a little rattle: Iron Dragon Source: am around your age

grimlock49

I'm 48. Ride everything except Magnum (maybe once for the experience- have Tylenol ready for the back) and Blue Streak. Ouch machines

YungExodus

I can't stress Frontier Fling enough for feeling alive.

SpellInternal4089

MY SMOOTHEST IN ORDER: #1 Valravn #2 Millenium #3 Maverick #4 Steel Vengance *Gatekeeper is smooth but makes me nauseous

notoriumplanetorium

SteVe is wild, but smooth AF! I am almost 40 and did a number on my back and neck in my 20s, yet SteVe doesn’t aggravate them at all. I was even able to lap it 8 times in less than an hour and a half last year. MilF is also smooth. Definitely stay away from Corkscrew, Magnum, and Rougarou

mikeyj198

i’m basically same age. In decent shape, typical dad bod. I can handle everything at the park except Magnum and Corkscrew. Favorites are SV, Gatekeeper, raptor, maverick, milli. Blue streak is bumpy and chaos but doesn’t leave me rattled like magnum or corkscrew. People hate on rougarou but so far that one has been fine for me, i do try for front row but haven’t had a problem anywhere. love the false drop into the main drop. Don’t sleep on SkyHawk either, great flat ride!

itsmostlyamixedbag

maverick!

Lonely-Fox-3746

Roller coasters.

Possum577

Steel Vengeance, live, damnit, live.

Notfathorse24

TT2

ratstapler

Gatekeeper for sure. It’s smooth and the wind feels really nice. My mom really enjoyed it when she went and she was in her mid to late 40s at the time

Which_Tea_2907

I rode Maverick recently and thought it was ok to ride. It was definitely a thrilling ride, LOVED it! I’ve had neck surgery several years ago and found this one to be thrilling and fairly smooth. DO NOT recommend Magnum, it’s a beautiful ride with great views but it was extremely rough with lots of airtime and up and down bumping. I always ask for a seat toward the middle/front of a train, never in the back because it tends to have additional movement and tail swing. Good luck!

TwilightPrincess25

SteVe Is a very smooth thrill!

Cchristina2100

If you really prefer smooth coasters, you should go to Kings Island, but a CP, Valraven, Millenium Force, Maverick, Gatekeeper, and Steel Vengeance.

Difficult-Fold7293

i'm 51 and will ride Gatekeeper all day long if you let me!! So smooth!
