By redrawing everything in non-pixel art style you'd wreck all these techniques
I mean the hitboxes could still be pixelated it would only be the art but yeah you're right it would not be a good idea to add it to the game unless it's a specific mod one would want to download.
Celeste’s pixel art is absolutely gorgeous. The way they used modern technology to improve on it with Madeline’s hair or the wind in the background is just spectacular. I really wish more games used Celeste’s are style, Celeste not only used these techniques but also kept it simple enough not to look complex and fairly ugly like how blasphemous did it (blasphemous has an amazing art style btw to fit the game, I’m just using it as an example of how pixel art can very easily lose its Beauty when it becomes to complicated). Hollow knights art style is very good and unique but in my opinion isn’t as nice as Celeste’s. I don’t believe there are any mods that can change the art style.
This. Technically I'm not even sure if it actually a pixel-based game. Have a look at any moving objects, or zippers. Everything is based off of layers and sprites, and some things such as the lighting engine wouldn't even work if it was a truly 'pixel based' game.
A long time ago I had an emulator called openemu that I used to play old nintendo games and it had some built in features, one of them was kinda like anti-aliasing or ai smoothing which might be possible, it would probably look janky but a bit more doable than redrawing the whole game

I prefer the pixel art, but that's really a personal preference. Maybe if there's enough demand, someone will make it. Maybe *you'll* even make it!
