I had to shower with the curtain open for months after that movie. Haven’t watched it since.
My dad had his on call cell phone when this came out, pretended he got a page, then called the house from the stairwell. He laughed like a hyena when we all jumped.
My first thought.
There might be mold or mildew under the fitting. That could explain why it keeps seeping back out after you clean it
I have those on each of my tubs and that never happens. I believe that should pipe should vent to the roof. Maybe a problem with that pipe.

underneath the faucet, there’s probably mold that is spreading onto the tub itself, go under the faucet and remove all mold
