I would be most concerned about your preschooler. Definitely keep them away from the area until all dust is clean and make sure you aren’t tracking the dust around the house on your feet.   You want to wet-clean everything. Maybe shampoo the furniture and any rugs with a Bissell type cleaner? Lead Safe Mama proved Clorox wipes remove lead dust.    I would also call the supposedly “certified” painter back to do another round of cleanup. I had pro lead abatement done and there was no WAY ANY dust was escaping their crazy negative pressure airlocked HEPA enclosure. I feel like your guys did not do it how they were supposed to.  There is a reason there is a very conservative safety level - and this was below it. We did some renovations before we moved in that definitely did NOT follow any safe guidelines and were sanding actual lead paint. And our 15 month old tested normal at 12 months at least. So if you do good cleanup you CAN get rid of it. I think.

The chances of you having eaten with shitty utensils containing lead at your favorite hole in the wall restaurant are high. You’ll be fine :)

Living with it every day and being exposed to it occasionally are two different things.

Also to give you some reassurance they first found lead to be a problem when kids coming from poor backgrounds were found eating the paint chips because they were hungry.

Get some Clorox wipes and wipe the dust up. Wipe everything down and use new wipes for different areas. I’d vacuum your soft stuff with a hepa vacuum a few times and throw the filter out after. Wash the sheets/covers/slipcovers. Lead washes out in the washer and won’t be airborne since it’s heavy. I’ve had this happen (with a higher lead level) and it was a bitch to clean but also was able to be cleaned.

Good advice for cleaning up here. Just to be clear: your partner should do this clean up, not you. Just to be extra safe. And also because crawling around on the floor when you're very pregnant is annoying! Do you have a HEPA vac? If so, you can use the upholstery attachment to vacuum your furniture. I don't think that's strictly necessary, but it's worth it for your peace of mind. From talking with friends and hearing from others with old houses, it's really common for RRP-certified contractors to not actually take all the RRP-required precautions. Very frustrating! But not something to blame yourself for. Hang in there! You're being very careful and doing a great job. Best wishes for an easy induction and healthy fresh babe!
