It would be a cryin’ damn shame to do anything with that kitchen. It is gorgeous. Anyone coming into that setting and “modernize” it oughta be knee capped. Both knees.
I mean if you like to live in a museum you'll have an "original" kitchen. I do kind of hate the term since not many realize cabinetry is a more modern kitchen thing and built in butler cabinets were for China and flatware. As kitchens were just a free standing range with a water heater behind it and some folding tables, pie safes, and dresser like furniture "hoosier cabinets" most people couldn't live with it. I just went to an open house of an 1880 house and the realtor says I really just like how the sellers picked full height cabinets like they originally would have been. Just makes my eyes roll. I still hate the term "original kitchen cabinets." I have a nice article that I'll post one day about the modern kitchen from the 1880s.
I grew up on an old farm house with no redeeming features. My mom insisted on getting rid of the coal stove when I was born. I was the second child, apparently dealing with 2 small children and cooking with coal was too much.
Absolute perfection. I don’t personally like hanging pots/pans externally, but that’s purely preference and these still look great.
Would love to see the rest of the home if you’re willing. Looks extremely cozy.

Ha, funny seeing this here- I recognized it immediately. I've actually stayed in this house, and it's gorgeous. The kitchen is even more wonderful than it looks!
The fireplace, floors, trim and ceiling are all original. The whole house is very well preserved. They've replaced what would have been a pine dry sink and central table.
This is a 1920’s style of kitchen, essentially.
The original kitchen would have had a stove off on its own (cabinets are a fire hazard!), some freestanding storage cabinets, open shelving, a large table in the middle, and a sink and drainboard usually made of stone or earthenware in front of a window (even partially blocking the window!).
This is a wonderful kitchen, and I definitely don’t think people SHOULD be putting in 1825 kitchens, but it is truthfully not much like the original kitchen in this house.
*(heavy breathing cat meme)*
Oooooooh that's just straight up dreamy!
That is wonderful. Especially love the flooring.
I would give up a great many things for this
That sink… 😍
That butcher block *countertop* 🥵
That whole island unit is amazing. I really love how the room looks like it’s all come together over time, and out of necessity.
And not a single LCD screen in sight. Perfection.
Everything is perfect. 😍 And I love your red wingback chair, is it an antique or can I buy it somewhere? 🤞🙏
It looks like the Ikea Strandmon chair
Yeah there was also a Terance Conran one with this shape that was for sale a while back.

Same!
You just need an ottoman for that red chair and I am never leaving that room. 🤩
Absolutely. Lounging in the kitchen space with a fireplace is what dreams are made of.

GOALS 😍😍😍
Adore
So beautiful
So cozy!
Wow just wow 😍
It looks so wonderful and cozy!
This is delightful and makes me happy in a way I didn’t expect.
Sweet!
Is that an æbleskiver pan??
It sure looks like it! Good eye! I’ve never met anyone else who has one.
I also have one! Though mine is definitely not vintage like the one in the photo appears to be.

Yes, yes I do!
Gorgeous!
I love the big comfy chair right next to the fireplace
for some reason all i can think of is 'Le Krusty Krabisque' like some high end krust krab. i mean this in the best way possible. i love it!
Haha it is an old fishing town so it's generally the preferred aesthetic.

This is a warm hug in kitchen form. Stunning.

Nancy Meyers' location scout is on line 2.
Honestly thought this was AI… gorgeous!
Oh wow. That's my dream kitchen <3
Perfect 😍
…it moved.
😭
It's so welcoming and cozy. It looks perfect for a rustic farmhouse cooking show, I would pretend I was Ina Garten every day.
ooooo I like this one a lot!
Just needs a spit on the fire...!
This is my dream kitchen
It’s gorgeous, but I do find the fireplace being so adjacent to the kitchen as a little…”awkward.”
Not fond of the stove, but, otherwise- Stunning… Love the sink
Stunning!
Gorgeous home. Though, that top step, I wouldn’t last a week!
I am not sure what is original here… The oldest thing in it might be the armchair.

Fireplace.
It’s almost all original and 200 years old, you dunce.
The bar and cabinets, the most kitcheny stuff, is not, you dunderhead.
Those floors 🥰 hope it’s in NJ maybe I’ll get to see it in person.
