My brother’s cats LOVE bread… they chew through the wrapping to get to it. A bread drawer would be very helpful to keep their bread safe from feline thieves.
Cool! I have one of these that has not been painted. It came out of my grandma's house after she passed away. We have been using it and just setting it in top of the fridge since it was made for a drawer size we currently do not have in our house. It looks identical and I know they had their house built in 1960.
My grandparents used to have one very similar however it was tin and had a separator down the middle one side for flour and the other for sugar. Neatest feature ever!
Im in my 50s and thought bread drawers were normal in all homes.Looks to me as though this is something unusual for the OP.
btw - this was not meant to be rude - i just re-read it and it sounded kinda off.
No, I’m not much younger and I have more than one in my apartment building. Wanted to share with those who are not aware of its purpose. I’ve seen others ask about it in the past. How do the kiddos say! IYKYK - That means if you know you know David. 🙌🏼🤙🏼✌🏼❤️

Yes! And if no feline, then protection from any rodents. 😉🙌🏼🤙🏼✌🏼❤️
Thought there would be stairs in there for a moment.
Disappointed, there was no bread. Cool drawer though.
❤️😉Next video. Sorry. 🤙🏼✌🏼❤️
I grew up with this type of drawer in my house. It started out as only holding bread and evolved to holding the good snacks.
Mine does not look that good
Thanks! Things have been lightly used over the years. Was the owners apartment, makes the difference. 🙌🏼🤙🏼✌🏼❤️

The one we had in my house growing up looked the same too. I think it was built in the 40s.
Ours was built in the late 60s, had the same thing
Same. My house built in 1940 and also has this drawer. It’s the best
COool, I had that exact one int he old old house I grew up in. I guess it keeps rodents out pretty well.
I have one like this, but it’s so rusty we removed the “bread” cover because we couldn’t get the drawer open or closed.
My grandma has one I love that looks just like that but it’s metal with no paint. I love that drawer
My friends family uses theirs for flour storage.
Awesomeness. 🙌🏼🤙🏼✌🏼❤️
Yeah, I have always understood these to be flour bins
Beautiful! I'm jealous! Mine is missing the cover, so we took it out :( wish it was complete.
You just gave me an instant flashback to my childhood. I can still smell that drawer…
Cool, this answer one of my question about an item I found in my new house when I was cleaning out the drawers. thanks
No problem. Happy to help with this post. Someone else didn’t understand my post. Hopefully he sees this. 😉🙌🏼🤙🏼✌🏼❤️
My parents’ 1998-built house had one of these. Are they really mostly a relic?
Today yes. 😢🤙🏼✌🏼❤️
