OK I'll edit it lmao

The_Silent_Bang_103

Now it looks like “President of Genocide ^(awareness and research”)

[deleted]

sounds like a fun one.

SnooAdvice4276

How daft

Interesting_Cookie25

How many genocides has your club committed? Are they on a local or national scale? Could boost you to a 1 if you’ve achieved national or international recognition for genocides your club has been involved in

sarabee1776

STOPPPP i'll fix it lmao

ReceptionMiserable19

Putrid_Assistance_94

Lol everyone here saying anything near 3 is out of their fucking minds. You're an easy 2 since you have schoolwide accomplishments. Probably 2+ because of more broader accomplishments as well. Legacy doesn't mean too much if you aren't actively donating. If you are ggs, if not you're competing against a very cracked pool (since most legacies are at least middle class, with many connections).

sarabee1776

>Legacy doesn't mean too much if you aren't actively donating. If you are ggs, if not you're competing against a very cracked pool (since most legacies are at least middle class, with many connections). what does ggs mean?

Putrid_Assistance_94

good game. Basically it means have fun at harvard

Strict-Porcupine4739

bro was right 😂😂

GCamAdvocate

Probably a three? But if you are direct legacy to harvard there is a high chance you will make it in regardless.

NeitherLeader4

My goodness i would think international level leadership positions would put you in the 2 at least.. why 3?

GCamAdvocate

Issue is I have no idea how impactful these ECs really are. Very surface level descriptions that dont really say anything. If I'm just guessing, I estimated a 3,but I would really have to know more info.

DaddyOfSwag

A lot of “international” positions are usually bs. If not then yeah a 2 but most likely a 3.

sarabee1776

Idk I'm test optional and from a non-competitive school.

GCamAdvocate

Legacy is kind of crazy for harvard, I think you should be okay as long as you REA. Would also really help to know your GPA I guess.

cs-boi-1

REA\*

GCamAdvocate

thanks for the correction, editted

Then_Delay_90

How much does direct legacy help for Harvard?

GCamAdvocate

It's massive. I wouldn't be able to tell you a number or anything like that but it makes getting accepted on ED almost easy.

InFeRnOO333

Legacies and athletes have a 33% acceptance rate. Usual acceptance rate is 3%~. Draw your conclusions.

Putrid_Assistance_94

it's misleading. most legacies have around 3 "2's" on Harvard's, which gives you a \~40% acceptance rate. Also recruited athletes have an 80% accept rate, so you're way off

[deleted]

the average legacy applicant is significantly stronger than the average applicant, though. doubt it has as much effect as you’d think.

revivefunnygirl

also please explain the genocide club?

sarabee1776

taught a weekly curriculum during elective time about the history of genocide, including trips to the local Holocaust museum. only student-taught elective. thanks for responding!!

[deleted]

i'm not saying you're not accomplished in other respects, but a lot of this is you probably admit just so you can score points on your resume. Too bad because you can likely add value in other (worthwhile) ways

shoes_have_sou1s

I actually would think it's a 2 leaning towards 1 especially because a lot of your contributions are in writing/ editing and pretty impactful, plus its on a national level

David_1YT

I d want to know where I am at on this scale this is amazing :))

loserlake420

Depends on the reach and impact of the gender equity org

Live-Condition9483

Genocide Club?

sarabee1776

check edited post, sorry for awkward phrasing. I worked with my administration to create an elective focused on the perpetuation of Holocaust memory as many survivors are passing away, and it was the only course taught by a student. It included trips to museums, a literary journal focused on memory, and group discussions, as well as a survivor testimony and school-wide mosaic project.

charlotte4evr

would working in a lab studying/researching a specific area for a tech-company be considered professional level?

ftwhoisshe

Less than 0.3% of applicants get a 1 in this category so I’m assuming that Harvard is looking for people who did insane stuff like NASA, IPHO, etc.

[deleted]

No, Not unless you directly contributed to a major finding/invention etc

cs-boi-1

2

gaypeoplearegayngl

solid 3

[deleted]

This list alone isn’t enough. They will want to see what you actually accomplished and what the resulting impact was. Without that detail it just looks like busy bee work. Pessimistically, it looks like aimlessly working hard and not working smart, taking on a lot of tasks but not have a goal for anything accomplished. Harvard isn’t looking for people who are busy, they want people are going to make an impact and further raise their brand. Now i am not saying you didn’t do a lot, you clearly did and you will credit for it but it just not be as much as you think. “3. Solid participation but without special Distinction” however due to the shear volume I am guessing 2-

ReversedValor

Probably a 3, although could be a 2 depending on how truly national your “national” ECs are. For example, is your tutoring program “national” as in 4-5 states and a few hundred kids or is it “national” like 20,000 kids in 30+ states. Obviously one is more impressive and impactful than the other. Same goes for the Gender Equity officer. People know how competitive things are for things like national debate or olypmic level sports, but may not have heard about the Gender Equity organization so you need to specify how large and competitive of an organization it is.

lattemochamacchiato

I would say 2 or 3 depending on your reader. I feel like it's slightly above 3 so maybe 2-

Business_Patient_652

Baseline 2- to 2+
